Getting straight to my point, I think that the spike grenade is by far the worse grenade in this entire game.
-Its extremely slow
-Has a pitiful duration
-Disgraceful damage
-Extremely obvious
At most it serves as an entertaining light show at the end of a match when you are simply waiting for the game to end.
Out of my experience I've seen that grenade used only in the very first months of vanilla Destiny, and anyone who is aware of the meta of crucible doesn't seem to use it. Not once have I seen it used in trials. I am not saying that it's nearly non existent use in end game crucible is proof of it's lack luster properties but a indication.
Alternatively the Nightstalker could receive the suppressor grenade from the Defender subclass which I feel would work more with the new void hunter class "crowd control" like appearance. Please Bungie, reconsider this choice, seeing how TTK isn't out yet I know it is very possible to make this minor tweak to the new expansion.

Dude don't judge the Spike so easily, throw that thing into a control point and everything in it dies.

2 RepliesAs a Hunter main, I really could care less. I can kind of see the OP's point though. The entire Nightstalker grenade list is more defensive, area control than anything. Even if it was the vortex grenade that changed, Some offense grenade couldn't hurt. But really, It doesn't matter to most Hunter players I imagine. The entire loadout for the new Nightstalker seems pretty interesting, and with Hunters having mostly offensive, lone wolf style of combat in their class builds this is a refreshing change of pace that many Hunters will likely find challenging. It forces a change away from our "go it alone" combat style that so many seem to have, so will end up pushing Hunters to adapt and learn how to play more as a team. As for the ridiculous arguments all through this poll about "Hunters are the noob class, wah wah wah" which come from a number of players that don't even HAVE a Hunter, Grow up. Seriously, reading some of these comments makes me laugh. I've heard Warlocks call Titans the noob class, Hunters calling Warlocks scrubs and everything in between. I've been playing all three classes, and every one of them requires a certain level of skill, but every one can be "Pick up and play" as well. Bunch of short sighted idiots that just want to justify their choice of main by badmouthing everyone else. Just knock it off already, geeze. When did Bungie's community turn into a hole full of juvenile crap? Oh, wait. Probably when Activision's community of foul mouthed CoD 12 year olds joined in.

Spike gernades are not that bad, jeez no need for a buff.
-
biased poll. the spike grenade is fine
-
In feedback mayb
-
I actually like the spike grenade
-
No piss off that's a TITAN grenade TITAN: Lightning, suppression Hunter: tripmine, skip Warlock: firebolt, axion These stay in each class and never move
-
Bias poll.
-
1 ReplyMaybe us Hunters can use it better than the Titans. #HunterPride
-
I wanted Axion or Scatter.
-
Off topic: I want Sunbreaker titans to get the tripmine grenade On topic: suppression grenades are a better idea
-
2 RepliesA void swarm grenade is what i was looking for.
-
It should be like a tripmine, but send a wave a void energy out.
-
I was thinking about having an Axion bolt for NightStalker. Wouldn't that make sense?
-
2 RepliesSpike grenade, no buff
-
Don't be greedy.
-
I don't understand the premise of the grenade. Doesn't last any where near as long as lightning grenade or do anywhere near enough damage. I only use it on nightfalls for giggles. The supressor grenade fits the class far more and would be synergenic with the rest of the class skills and abilities.
-
I laughed so heard yesterday when I saw someone actually die by jumping into a spike grenade. He must have thought it was his teammates grenade.
-
Minor tweak=weeks of reprogramming its fine pike down l!
-
That's because night stalker is more of a support role and zone control.
-
I think they need to swap it with suppressor and swap fusion with firebolt for titans
-
9 RepliesPfftt all these hunters. As soon as they get a crap grenade its buff this or give me this! We all have a crap grenade or two. Well apart from warcocks of course.
-
1 ReplyActually, thinking about it right, you could super a group, toss any of those 3 types of grenades and a smoke, that is massive AoE damage
-
3 RepliesHypothetically if they were to buff the spike grenade, would the buff go to defenders as well?
-
It's cool as hell looking but ha it's weak af lol
-
I like the spike as it's one of the few (only?) grenades that you can't damage yourself with, plus it will synergize nicely with the super that holds everyone in place...
