well I finally got it, but...
finally got the damn thorn bounty after countless hours of submitting boatloads of bounties, and I'm up to the get 500pts with void weapons against Guardians part. I thought I was "ok" at multiplayer, and then I realized I had to use a shotgun or rocket launcher (my only void weapons) and that I absolutely suck d@#$ with those weapons. my K/Ds yesterday were horrendously pathetic, anyone have tips on doing this part of the bounty?

Basically play like an a$$hole
Camp with shottys or snipes with void burn
quit if you die more than a few times
Get Word of Crota or Epilogue
Git Gud (lol)
Rare Void secondaries work too
Upgrade my Part Crasher +1
practice the blink shotty combo
Camp around heavy ammo
play control
play rumble with friends willing to die for you
Might use fusion rifles instead of shottys

A good void heavy machine gun can go a long way. Basically get heavy and hide for 1-2 minutes. Counting rockets fired, then unleash hell on your victims, because they are no longer enemies but your victims! Also control, once team caps two points stand off to the side of one point protecting it. Try and stay crouched, keeps you somewhat off radar

I had been sitting on my Thorn bounty since October up until mid - July. My overall K/D is between .89 and .91 and I only had a Hunter at the time. Never got Atheon's Epilogue so until I got WoC I wouldn't attempt it. So I picked up the HoW HMG and ascended the void New Monarchy shotgun and went for it. Also switched between the WoC and the HoW void scout rifle. Took me two days when I finally said I would do it but it felt good. Once I maxed it out, I could see why people use it so much. Just keep at it; you'll get there.

Don't rush the bounty and play as you would normally. Playing with an auto rifle can be fun, i really recommend using arheon's epilogue. As a bonus you'll get better at aiming / suppressing the recoil. Every shot matters. Void secondary / heavy aren't a must have but make things easier. I got my second thorn by using atheon's only

get a machine gun with void like BTRD I used: Word of Crota Felwinters BTRD on my hunter and got it done pretty quick

honestly, it should be easier now a days really. like Litteraly when I first started I had it on my main which was a hunter, and I had Litteraly nothing that was void at all. I believe I got a void trolley problem and used that while it wasn't even upgraded. so took me a while and this was when I was bad at pvp/not as good. you'll get it done man. now a days should be even easier.

2 RepliesAvoiding death is at least as important as kills. Play back. Camp. Multi-kills with fewer deaths will speed the process up. I did the entire bounty in one day. I got the bounty on my Warlock and had all void weapons (Word of Crota, void Marador, void The Fear) and it still took me 20+ matches. I have much respect for people that earned it using their Hunter. I needed every advantage I could get.

Try to get a decent void machine gun. I find I can get a lot of kills with a good MG with decent stability.

It's not "play like an a-hole," but just play conservatively. If you're not dominating an engagement, withdraw. If you focus more on k/d and assists over sheer volume, its helpful. Use a "nightfall mentality."

Play more conservatively, snipe if you can. Run away when you are outnumbered. Take it slow and easy. I'm not a PvP player and I did it with a rare sniper and Atheon's epilogue back in the vanilla days as a Hunter. It can be done. Always run with a group, don't go on your own.

I was in the same boat when I got my first Thorn back in November (Gunslinger - was my only character at that point). I'd suggest a void shotgun (something with good range and impact) and an MG. Watch your radar, don't play defensively but not too aggressively. Good luck!

2 RepliesHave one in each character. And done by each one if them. On my titan didn't even used a void primary. Void shotgun/sniper and void rocket/mg...Did it in 3 fun hours on control. Just play as you play best but try to play it more conservative. I mean try not to die to many times :p. Keep that k/D positive
