I bought it from xur during week 2, even if I had to miss red death week 1 to do it
Edit: I'm surprised by how positive the comments are, thank you
Edit: If you haven't figured it out, I'm mocking the earning vs xurning argument

1 ReplyHey if its in the game to get through RNG or buying ,i will use and/or buy so i can use,i couldn't care less what some internet tryhard HC gamerZ douchebag self imposed code of gamer L33Tness has to say.I play so I can have fun i don't need some douchebag on digital ego trip approval. This earner/xurner BS is just one big nerd pissing contest IMO

4 RepliesThank God you weren't a douchbag who said: YEAH I GOT IT FROM CROTA BIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!

1 ReplyI bought one during week 2 Xúr, got one from a Nightfall and got one from a raid.. All 3 of my guys have one now :-)
-
5 RepliesYeah sadly i had to wait untill a few weeks ago to get lucky enough to get it lol
-
3 RepliesMe too It took a lot of grinding to get the coins up in that amount of time with only one guy
-
1 ReplyYou really did! Wanna know why? Because at that time you had to kick ass for coins.
protip: now you don't! Buying Ghorn ar that time was totally legit while now it would be as easy as taking a shit.

this is a spoiler

why you click on this..
1 ReplyTotally earned it. Just like everyone who saved up the coins earned Thunderlord. Whats with this obsession of earning anything on a game as long as you don't buy it? It's just a time investment, you deserve nothing for playing a game. It makes no difference wether you buy an exotic or have a lucky drop, they kill stuff and make you happy as hell.
-
7 RepliesSame.
i got red death from a legendary engram the week before

and I talked my friend out of buying Ghorn because how useful could an exotic heavy be?

he hates me
1 ReplyI got my Gjallerhorn from getting third place with a crap kd in the crucible, so I can't argue the "earned" part
-
1 ReplyI think every piece of gear in this game you earn thnx to RNGesus you grind for strange coins to buy from xur you grind marks and glimmer for vendors and you grind nightfalls / strikes and pvp. Only way you would get a piece of gear that wasn't earned is if they had trading and even then you would have pretty much earned it because the weapons you traded for the new one you had to grind to get but was just unlucky in getting what you were wanting / needing !!
-
3 RepliesI didnt earn mine. I received it from a lucky RANDOM number generator roll from nightfall a few weeks back. I EARNED my thunderlord by grinding coins through nightfalls and heroics.
-
Got my first from deathsinger and second from VOG chest
-
1 ReplyCool story bro

1 ReplyHaha! I never had enough strange coins. So I missed out. I finally received my Gjallarhorn today - over half a year later - in a wee altercation with Crota. I'd like to think it was earned! All exotic weapons are 'earned' by playing the game. I never understood the whole 'Buying from Xur is NOT earning!' arguement because the strange coins are earned, through completing quests. And gaining Exotic weapons otherwise is through... you guessed it, completing quests! So, uh... yeah.

Finally someone with a brain posts the real meaning behind the word "earn"

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.
