I am very interested as to see what other peoples opinions are. I constantly hear from other guardians that wiping and staying up top on oracles/templar is a "cheese". Here are the reasons, I don't believe its a cheese.
1. You're not glitching or cheating the game in any way.
2. Why do the oracles seem to spawn in the perfect locations for your guardians to spread out on top? Not a cheese.
3. Templar ONLY spawns in places where he can be easy seen and damaged.
4. All hob goblins can easily be hit from up top.
5. Templar can still do damage to you, now matter where you stand up top.
6. Detainment shields still form on top.
7. Why would Bungie respawn you on top if everyone dies at the oracle/templar check point.
8. Why would there be multiple routes to get back up to the top after jumping down to "start" the oracles/templar.
9. Why would there be a scout rifle with oracle disrupter if oracles weren't meant to also be hit from a distance.
10. You can still be marked by oracles.
There are a few arguments though such as,
1. If you have to jump down to start, you are meant to jump down to do it the correct way.
2. Its a down right "cheese" playing the game how its not meant to be played.
In my opinion, wiping and staying up top is not a cheese. You aren't glitching, lagging, or cheating in any way. I'd like to know the opinions of other guardians. If you believe this is Cheesing, let me know why. Thanks for your time!
Edit 1: Many peoples opinions are that if it was a cheese, Bungie would have patched it... What do you think?
Edit 2: Another thing to think about is that how can this be a cheese if you are still having to do the same amount of work both ways?
Edit 3: I will be posting hard evidence for #5 since some people seem to think that I'm wrong.

1 ReplyAsk the guy soloing the relic if he feels like he's cheesing it. Not like its super hard but still not cheesing it.
-
If bungie didn't want us doing it they would fix it. They might not agree with what we do but they'll defend to the death our right to do it
-
9 RepliesDid Leonidas cheese by staying in a narrow space between mountains to fend of waves of enemies in an outnumbered situation, instead of facing his enemy in the open? No it was called strategy. Why is this any different?
-
Edited by iMoto Bro: 3/5/2015 9:08:02 AMIt's a strategy not a "cheese". Just like having the 3 people you want teleported during the Atheon fight to stand at the back... But Bungie claimed it was a glitch and patched it. I missed those days before that.

1 ReplyWell to me cheesing is glitching the mechanics of the game, whether through lag or Unforseen variable, like the bridge cheese where you can de spawn the thralls by wiping or going up to the top of the pillar and jumping in Crota at bridge, even that may just be an oopsie more than a cheese. The oracle/Templar is not a cheese, they can still shoot you, you can still be marked, and none of the game mechanics change from being up top
-
1 Replynot a cheese, but it is insanely boring. ive fallen asleep during the oracles before...
-
Raid weapons with Oracle disruptor are for the gatekeeper and Atheon CPs. As it states, the increases damage done to oracles INSIDE the Vault of Glass. You are technically not in the Vault of Glass yet until the gatekeeper CP. Oh and I don't think it's a cheese also. But it's debatable.

10 RepliesIt is complete cheese, and #5 is not true at all.
-
4 RepliesYour not doing It the way it was designed so its technically cheesing
-
2 RepliesIt's not a cheese it's a tactic advantage. Reason being is not only do the oracles spawn in perfect spots for guardians up top (excluding putting one person below for the hidden bak oracle) you can CLIMB back up top after you jump down without wiping. Wiping is just faster. It is not a cheese it's a tactic. People need to know the difference because this gaming community is confused on cheese, op, an everything. Anyways, it's not cheese.

6 RepliesEdited by Rylor Threev: 3/5/2015 1:16:05 PMI think this a cheese, cheesing means that you're not doing what was supposed to do, what was intended to do, get down there and kill the oracles and kill the templar, cheesing involves good positions, easy ways to do something, when you don't have to do anything to activate it like when warlocks forced the templar to fall off, that was a cheese without cheating or glitching the game, the oracles, is just good positions

1 ReplyCheesing does not always imply glitching/cheating FYI

9. Why would there be a scout rifle with oracle disrupter if oracles weren't meant to also be hit from a distance.
Lol I think I would have chosen the sniper if I was going to put that point, but it's still a foolish one. Why would there be a shotgun with oracle disruptor if oracles weren't meant to be hit from close range?

1 ReplyWhile not a cheese, it takes the intensity out of the fight and is just more boring unless you're the relic holder. I still prefer to jump down
-
It's fu**ing bleue d'Auvergne !!!
-
It is a strategy. Nothing more.
-
I did this yesterday. I did the normal raid for some people who needed it. My and my buddy went down. I watched left he watched right. And the other 4 snipes hobs and oracles when they could.
-
see, I would be on the fence like everyone else we were looking for a quick run, and while we made an honest attempt at it, and as much as my Hunter wanted to live, there was just no way I would have been able to kill all the Oracles by myself ... and I still managed to survive for a bit after all my team mates were dead - on a hard mode I think grenade push was a cheese, o don't think sitting up top and sniping is a cheese
-
1 Replywipe and snipe is the only way to do it as far as im concerned...the snipe from up top tactic on the actual templar fight takes a very talented relic holder to accomplish though...not a cheese
-
1 ReplyWow people are still doing this? haha it's more fun and probably easier to do them both legit
-
I was going to say it's 100% a cheese, but then your post has convinced me it's not entirely a cheese. However, once you're past level 30, I feel then you should start taking on the challenge of being on the ground. The hardcore gamers can do it at level 30, the rest of us at 31/32.

3 RepliesWhy exactly is it important, whether something is cheesing or not?
-
Does it matter? After all it's no different to hiding behind boxes or rocks and jumping out to shoot enemies when doing a strike is it
-
3 RepliesIt's as cheesy as standing on the middle platform outside the glass on Crota raid...
-
6 RepliesIt's a strategy.

1. Well you kinda are. The fight starts when someone jumps down insinuating you need to go down to fight. 2. Yes perfect, like sitting all the way to the right so you can just see left hidden or when the Templar teleports in front of it, left front. 3. No shit you're on high ground overlooking the entire boss room. And sometimes he goes a bit to the back right where you can't easily see him from most of the top. 4. Yes and only 2-3 of them even shoot you. 5. Not true. There's only a couple of places where he'll damage you when he is close 6. Detainment shields also formed when trying to push off Atheon. 7. So you wouldn't have to start the fight right away. Why wouldn't bungie re spawn you on top after the checkpoint triggers without wiping if it were a normal tactic. 8. Let me guess some strange jumps are needed to get back up for which you'll need to check a yt video first to know how to do it? 9. To shoot oracles further away in case someone on the other side died because you know, down there you can die from enemies shooting at you. And for your edit 2. It isn't the same effort. Doing it legit you have to keep shooting adds or else you die. Doing it by cheesing you can wait until someone says oracles are up, shoot some bullets and go back to watching some tv serie on your laptop until someone yells oracles again. Easiest way to recognize its a cheese: It's boring as -blam!-
