In science, and on the bounds of scientific theories, skepticism is good, denial is ignorant. Disciplining your child is fine, abusing them is different than discipline. People shouldn't be able to vote, hold office, join the military, take out huge loans, or anything of the sort until they are 25. Saying an 18 year old is an "adult" and should bear all that responsibility all of the sudden is a ridiculous notion.
