Its quite unfortunate since i love them, maybe stick a hair trigger on them all? I mean.. Its the future.
Something has to be done or you will never see anyone using one besides vision and mida and everyones sayin ( demise & badger )
And before you post anything thinkin im just messin around or trolling you, think about me tearing your face off with any of my auto rifles at the same distance as you with your scouts.
I hope you will look at your kd and mine before you talk, and my grimoire score also, I have every weapon (except some new ones) under every weapon type and I've used them all. A lot

I use nothing but scouts. Mida is great, use it when I play pvp, usually voc in pve. It's just about knowing to keep your space

4 RepliesEdited by xXbrandaddyXx: 12/16/2014 2:14:31 AMOP has a point. The blue ARs get the job done in Crucible. A well rolled blue Hand Cannon with a decent magazine size will do damage too. I personally used the Big Red Chief starting out. As bad ass as the A.1, MIDA etc. are the more common scout rifles are garbage. I can't really speak on any pulse rifle as I prefer the scout rifles. I agree that the lower rank scout rifles are a mess. However, I love playing with the A.1 and MIDA as much as I do my collection of hand cannons. I've got Thorn, TDYK and Lord High Fixer.
-
Nah, I'm pretty average but last night I went on a tear with the A.1 steak sauce. The exploding critical perk proved it's worth.
-
Yeah no. I have both the Vision and Mida, and plan on picking up the new Saterienne Rapier, and would absolutely reck you at the range you are talking about. Scouts are perfectly fine where they are right now

4 RepliesFrom my experiences with all the primaries I can see why people wouldn't like scout rifles because of their play style and before the buff they really were complete crap but with the changes they are actually really good. Right now I'm primarily using multi-tool for acout rifle and I've played around with a legendary after patch as well. From what I've seen the guns work like this; Auto: half to full clip for kill (depends on rifle, and accuracy) Burst: 3-5 bursts so approximately 2 to 3/4th a clip Scout: 1/4 to half clip for kill if chest, anywhere from 3-5 shots if precision Hand cannon: half to full if torso, 1-2 if precision. The thing about scout rifle is it's a precision weapon. It's supposed to a mid step between hand cannon and burst rifle, has less damage than cannon but faster rate of fire, and higher damage than bust while slower to shoot. It's not a bad weapon but not for everyone play style.

I assume you're talking about crucible since you mentioned KD. I use scout but mostly just vision. Just like auto, I don't see many people using anything other than shadow price, SUROS, vanquishers. Actually, I don't see many auto users anymore...lots of thorn, TLW and fusion. Any scout with high impact and fire rate should do well in crucible if you can aim...lower yourself to 3 sensitivity like one of my friends and he never misses head lol. Then again, we all use vision and mida now since they're just so much better but one's a vog gear and the other an exotic. Really depends on the distance...especially on large maps...lol there's like 2 or 3. When I use scout, I always carry shotgun. If I know I'm going to be outshot by a auto, I shoot once and grenade for a trade. If they're close enough, shotgun (fusion works too but I play on 10 so fusion don't always hit 100%).

1 ReplyYour KD? what's so special about it? I've got almost a 2.0 on all my characters and I still think i'm garbage. In regards to you thinking scouts are terrible, I'd have to disagree though I understand your frustration. I found that you have to play the auto rifle and the scout rifle differently in order to be succesful with the weapons. With the auto rifle, I find that it's important to get the first shots off. Accuracy isn't incredibly important. Whereas with the scout rifle, the headshot modifier is EVERYTHING.

Edited by DragonLTD: 12/16/2014 4:48:58 PMIdk, pre dlc, the a.1f from vanguard hit like a truck and had beast perks for me. Mine had third eye and luck in the chamber. If you can aim head shots your set. I wouldn't get out fined unless it was from point blank shotguns/ fusion rifles. Used several of them for a long time before I got voc.

Vision of confluence is great with the auto upgrade

4 RepliesIn crucible they're bad.. which is a shame, but i think it's because the maps don't allow longer range firefights that scout rifles would rip up in. If they were to make them stronger for crucible they would pretty much be stable hand cannons that hold more ammo, so wouldn't really work. As for PvE i always use a scout rifle and love it!
-
I have to agree. It is a shame, because I love scout rifles too, but I always get outgunned by assault rifles. The only really effective place for them (at least for me) is pvp. Sometimes for fun I'll pull one out in pve, but for the most part it's assault rifles.
-
I like my scouts. Mida RYL VoC Demise and the new one from crucible are the ones I use. 3 shots from my RYL and your a firery explosion :)
-
I've been running crypt dweller since the beginning of the game and without a doubt is my favorite scout rifle, lower impact but range and high rate of fire makes this thing a beast. Too bad the legendary that's being sold by dead orbit post dlc has crappier perks than my previous crypt dwellers. I might just wait from a random roll from the faction.
-
I LOVE scout rifles .... Vision of Confluence .... I still run mine because it's elemental despite a max 300 damage. I also run Ghelion's Demise (FIREFLY!!!) and the new Badger CCL that will replace it once leveled up. If you don't have Ice Breaker and need some sniping rounds, this is the ticket.

6 RepliesExplosive rounds make scout rifles pretty amazing. Deals almost double the damage.

1 ReplyEdited by HumanTitan8: 12/16/2014 3:55:47 PMVoC isn't terrible.

3 RepliesThey aren't. My main problem tho is how much less precision damage they deal compared to handcannons. I'd be okay if handcannons dealt more damage but couldn't have more than 6-8 bullets per clip but that's not the case. Handcannons are ridiculous everywhere and you don't need to be good like some nerds will tell you. With the VERY generous headshot hitbox and insane auto aim, its easy AF.
-
Rock my legendary scout riffle from DO in the raid. Maybe you just aren't getting good rolls on the perks.
-
Love my 332 Mida.

My VoC and my Cryptic Dragon with explosive rounds beg to differ...

9 RepliesOh. Another PVP thread. *slowly backs out of this thread*

12 RepliesYour K/D isn't even impressive. Why is that relevant to scout rifles.
