There's too much negativity and complaining on the forums these days; so lets all take a moment to reflect on things we actually like about Destiny.
I'll go first:
The skyboxes are beautiful.

They didn't make it easy. I've put over 100 hours in and barely attented the raid, this game is thoroughly difficult and I love it. With the new purples update it'll be less hard to gear up to that point but still beyond that point is going to be challenging.

I read through all the responses, and there are so many good ones - the music, the sound effects, the beautiful scenery and graphics. I myself have not yet progressed past the moon storywise, but so far I love it - like all the Halo games, Bungie is carefully layering out details a bit at a time. Just as we had no idea what the Covenants deal was in Halo:CE, and more and more was revealed about them in each new game - the way their hierarchy worked, what the reason for their goals was, why they did what they did. Even more info about the vast universe was uncovered in hidden terminals and tidbits scattered around, to say nothing of the novels that REALLY opened the can of worms wide (and no, I am not talking about the Mgalekgolo). If you really look around at the surroundings, both in the tower and else where, if you read the flavor text on all the weapons armor and class items, if you read the Grimoire cards - it is clear that the same approach to story is happening here. Bungie has crafted a rich, deep fully realized world, but is feeding it to us slowly, teasing far more than is revealed. Honestly, I would personally prefer more story sooner - more detail on the factions, the Consensus, the Speaker and so on. I hope that the future holds the ability to interact with the tower's inhabitants more, hear their stories, and perhaps even interact with enemies who have gone rogue and are either serving as mercenaries for the humans or just neutral parties. But while I want more than the taste I have gotten, I still see potential, not disappointment. My apologies that this is so long already - but I also want to point out something from a technical perspective that FLOORS me. Maybe it is not as revolutionary as I think it is... but the seamless, behind the scenes "matchmaking" that happens anytime you are in the field. Be it on a mission, patrol, or even a strike (from the selection I have done, and I have no doubt the rest is the same), other players enter and exit your "instance" without any effort on your part or even sign that it is happening. You just encounter fellow guardians in the field. Some of the coolest moments I have had in the open world are public events that I was struggling to make headway, when a fellow guardian added his firepower and skills to mine, and... GOLD!!! We then part ways and continue on what we were doing, or tag along with each other, or even join forces fireteam style. It all happens in the background, but it is impressive. As a side note - I have seen people lobby for bringing PVP to patrols, and I hate the idea. Not only does it make no sense in the fiction (whereas the Crucible does), but people do NOT need more ways to bring grief to fellow players. I know that things have needed and continue to need adjustment, replacement, and even outright repair. But I love what is here, and with Bungie's history of TRULY listening to the community, my hopes are just as high as they have ever been for the future of this universe. Destiny may not be Legend, yet... but I am confident it will be.

1 ReplyI've been playing the game since it came out (whenever I can since I have a job and stuff). Obviously that means I like the game. I didn't pay attention to the hype. I wasn't even going to buy the game, but I did.

It's a delicious appetizer.

It's better than anything out there right now. And everything out there right now should feel about that.

1 ReplyThe music. Marty is a genius.

One positive thing about Destiny.

Looks great! Also plays well and I like getting loot. Just a thought...It would be nice if you could sell items rather than dismantle. I'm only level 9 so I don't know if that changes. I like the idea of having a live marketplace like WOW and other MMOs.

Absolutely fantastic movement.

The movement and shooting is balletic. Combat is frenetic and kinetic. The visuals are outstanding, as is the sound. Most of the players are cool. Now I need a clan.

2 RepliesBeating the raid felt better than anything from software has to offer.

The PvE gameplay is solid.
