So while I played during both the crucible moon map and the mission on the Moon, I thought to myself, why is there sound?
How do my shots carry when there is no air to carry any sound on the moon? Now I might be getting my facts completely wrong, but I think, if I'm correct, the sounds of shots being fired should be muffled or non existant at all.
Am I right? Or should I probably take a science class again?

2 RepliesThese are the recents noises in space that NASA picked up. The sounds are actually pretty terrifying...
-
the traveller came along, all that we know now is pointless, the traveller change all the rules. don't use todays logic in the game.
-
Somehow the traveler teraformed our whole solar system with its powers, this is part of what made the golden age possible. All planets now have atmosphere with breathable air.
-
So i heard that the traveler put breathable air on all planets in the solar system so that means there is air

I would assume by then we'd be using ceaseless ballistic gel rounds, ignition and power controlled internally instead of gunpowder
-
if you didnt notice at the beginning of the game it showed that the traveler changed everything even the atmospheres of the planets so there is no reason to assume that the moon doesnt have an atmosphere to produce sound anymore

4 RepliesSomeone once told George Lucas there is no sound in space. George Lucas didn't listen. Today, George Lucas is a billionaire.

I want scientific logic in a game about aliens, zombies and space magic!!
-
And how would the gunpowder ignite to launch the bullet ?
-
Oh this game goes against many other rules? That's fine. But don't you -blam!-ing dare put sound in space
-
They said on the moon map tour that the traveler gave the moon some more gravity and a light atmosphere. So like many answers to questions explaining how things work in Destiny, the answer is space magic.
-
2 RepliesSupposedly the traveler created an atmosphere similar to earth on each of the planets we can visit which is why it seems a lot like earth. And why we can can hear normally.
-
5 RepliesIf you play on first light, you can see a couple of birds flying around on the moon. It seems the moon was made livable just like mercury and Venus. Also, this is a game about aliens and magic, yet you claim sound on the moon is unrealistic? Wut?
-
Don't forget the Traveler was terraforming all the planets.
-
I'm not to sure. I expected Halo Reach type of muffling in space and the purple ball grav physics on the moon.
-
A while back in a video the hunter ' scape waved in the wind. I'm pretty sure the traveler made it habitable with some sort of atmosphere.
-
1 ReplyWe are playing a game where we colonize other planets, hunt monsters with fusion rifles, ride on sparrows. WE THROUGH PURPLE BALLS OF DEATH, OUR BODIES TURN GOLDEN AND WE CAN SLAM THE GROUND AND PRODUCE LIGHTNING..... But NOOOOOOOOO, WE CAN'T HAVE SOUNDS ON THE MOON! xD Same gravity as well btw, and twinkling stars
-
1 ReplyThe answer is witchcraft. The same witchcraft that put a man on the moon and allows the Sukhoi su-47 Berkut to fly :p

Bungie has stated they don't care about the laws of physics when it comes down to designing their game. They're making it for fun.

Edited by gestuart88: 7/30/2014 2:08:53 AMHow are there nova bombs and ... Mars and Venus are habital.... It's sound on the moon that kills the immersion for you... As a science teacher I can say There should be no sound in space (so none can hear you scream) because there is no medium to propagate the sound wave As a destiny fan Maybe after human settlement there was an atmosphere of some kind. Dunno

1 ReplyDon't over think it buddy. That's my advice. We're talking about a game with aliens, space magic, robot people and Peter Dinklage as your flying friend.
-
Magic. Deal with it and quit your bitching.
-
5 RepliesActually, since we are using an internal atmosphere to survive on the moon (with air inside and some oxigen i'm assuming), we could still hear things outside of it, because the vibrations will carry to our suits and we will hear those vibrations.

Okay there's magic. People coming back to life. A big ass orb floating on earth. Blue people, aliens, life on Venus and Mars and you're worried about sound on the moon. Lol
