Is not balanced or skill based. Don't sit here and fanboy and try to explain or make excuses as to why you believe it is any competent player can tell it isn't.
Constructive feed back:
1. Supers have no place in the mp and are the biggest problem, disable them. There is no way to tell when a player is super charged or not. If there were a very clear aesthetic when there super was ready that other players could be aware of it would be somewhat fair but even then for the warlock and myself included, Titan it's just mash bumpers to win. Maybe a gold halo or sparkles around the player when their super is ready?
2. The sniper rifle damage needs to be lowered roughly 20-30% auto aim needs a severe reduction. I was doming head shots with the Gozen with no effort after 3 games. Head shot damage should remain the same.
3. Reduce auto rifle damage 5-10% buff pulse rifle damage at least 20% and reduce recoil slightly.
4. Vehicles for the most part are incredibly broken. Either a sniper takes them out of the vehicle or a super must come up. At the beginning of the game vehicles reign supreme please add heavy weapon ammo at the start of games on vehicle based maps, it would have such a positive impact on gameplay.
5. Net code seems to be intentionally noob friendly, at close quarters it is near impossible not to trade. Often I melee the person shot gunning me and they die as well. Don't even get me started about meleeing each other, it is almost guaranteed that both players die. Kill delays on many things such as snipers can be up to 3 seconds.. I have never seen this in a game before, ever. It's ridiculous.
I do however love the map designs, although moon is over vehicle saturated. The movement mechanics and aiming in this game are some of the best in any FPS I have ever touched hands down.
Edit: For good players please message me if you are interested in joining a competitive scene of players I have started a group called Got Gear looking to raid and be the premiere first raiding guild in Destiny. I used to lead 10 and 25 man WoW raids. If this game does somehow turn around it's MP we are looking to compete in tourneys as well.

10 RepliesJust to the thing about the pvp being unbalanced and bad. I disagree. I have always hated pvp. The only game I ever liked pvp in was gta v. This games pvp is good. The moon vehicles are fine, (however I think we should be able to hijack). You probably just never get to the vehicles quick enough and are a sore loser. Grenades do quite a bit of damage against vehicles. I do agree with pr buff but I also think scout rifle needs a small buff too. Or ar needs a nerf. As far as melee, melee is supposed to be a one hit kill for the anyone so yeah if you and a player hit each other at the same time you will both die. I've never liked pvp because I care more about story and single player. I've always loved coop but pvp is not my thing. Never big on CoD. I wouod get like one maybe two kills on BF. But in this game I'm usually one of the top players. Bungie is trying something different. It actually a lot like halo. You just need to learn the different system. And as far as supers, they're fun. Just keep you distance from titans.

Shotgun sucks in PVP and PVE. Its range needs a slight increase and/or a slight damage buff in both mods. It just feels underpowered. I think Players in general die to quickly in PVP. AR is way to dominate in PVP. Semi Automatic weapons need an increase rate of fire thats dependent on the how fast the players shoots. Basically they need to be like (Halo) the Carbine and less like the Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR).

Pulse Rifles could use a little love indeed. Vehicles are OK, as long as there is Heavy Ammo available from the start on maps with vehicles. Matchmaking and netcode is a joke... delayed kill indication (up to 2 full seconds), shots that never register, kill trading, This is by far the point that needs more attention on the PvP. No point in balancing anything if people can't play with a decent connection and rely on their skill. Supers are fine the way they are... the game is just a shooter, it has these elements that differentiate them from the rest and that is fine by me.

1 ReplyEdited by Fancy: 7/25/2014 9:46:33 AMVehicles ruin the fun and amazing gun play its so different having free choice over what you use but the vehicle busts through and says haha who cares what you have and the stuff you fought long and hard to achieve here you are dead now by the free vehicle i got by simply spawning... Keep the sparrows they are good for getting around and they dont shoot beams of op

1. A player's emblem turns yellow when their Super is fully charged. Keep your distance from a fully-charged Titan. Get in the face of a fully-charged Hunter or Warlock. Anyteam gathering in large groups is just asking to get supered. 2. The Sniper rifles are fine. The way game handicaps snipers is by making their magazines very small...and the more damage the rifle does, the smaller the mag gets. 3. The AR is fine as it is. The PR, though, DOES need a buff both in damage and distance. Right now it just plays like slow-firing AR, or a less-acurate, less potent SR. Going into PvP with a PR is a good recipie for getting killed by EVERYONE, because you have no real advantage at any range, and the bullets don't do enough damage for the fire rate to overcome the SR's harder hitting bullet. 4. That the whole point. If their weren't so many ways to take them out the vehicles WOULD be "OP". Titanfall's mechs are the same way. Any There are lots of ways to take out any individual mech (to the point some people dont' get in them and just use them as walking decoys), but the team that gets them first in numbers has a huge advantage...and you get that advantage by killing more of the other teams guys.

10 RepliesSome good points. I do agree that the pulse rifle is weak when compared to the other weapons. The vehicles on the MP map are over powered and can even get into some buildings making the capture objectives difficult to get to without one yourself. They should force a dismount if a player wishes to capture a point or a building. The Titan super power is to powerful and needs to be balanced. Melee I agree with you on this one. As someone who has played quite a bit of Dust 514 I can say the pvp is in Destiny is weak when compared to that game. The maps are to small as well. Plus there is no real reason to do pvp in Destiny. There are no resources a player or clan can capture and hold and it bears no significance to the pve side of the game either. When I take part in pvp I like to have an objective other than a cosmetic thing of capture the flag to earn points. I like to see my pvp actions bear a real resemblance to the whole game world like Eve Online where players can own whole swathes of space. Maybe I am old school and just dislike battle arenas. The PvE side of the game though is very nice and I like the storyline I have seen so far.

2 RepliesSnipers damage is great, it's the aiming system that is too easy

I agree with a majority of what you said actually. I keep getting killed with the 'hulk smash' technique and the energyball throw as they're hovering in the air. I almost never get killed by the golden gun. An indication to other players that a player is using their super, should be implemented. They DON'T need to go, however. Vehicles are definitely OP and hijacking seems to be an appropriate and an almost obvious feature which needs to be implemented. But i won't be playing with vehicles so it doesn't bother me. And yes, trading at close quarters is too common. I agree on the positives.
-
You can see who has a super charged. Their rank next to their health blow glows yellow when they have one charged. I initially had the same opinion that the supers were OP because you couldn't tell who had one, but now that I know how to tell, I think they are fine.

I disagree in a lot of respects, PvP in Destiny is easily the most fun I've had in an MP environment ever. The very fact Bungie is working to create a game in which there are many things that are maybe OP but in different ways and end up balancing is what leads to the fun. Supers are glorious, meant to be OP and create some really awesome moments. Sniper Rifles I think are in a good place, I haven't been sniped from all sides at once yet. Personally I feel the shotgun is the Special that may need some attention as it seems to be the no brainer choice in a lot of cases. ARs most definitely do need attention, some simply fire too fast and do too much damage for an opponent with a different weapon to be able to beat in many circumstances. Vehicles work well I feel, again they are a little OP but not invincible it just depends how good the opponent team is at dealing with them. I've played loads of games now and I don't think its noob" friendly at all - victory requires planning and team work. Lone Wolves get slaughtered, as they should in a Team focused environment.

1 ReplyBump because anytime a good constructive topic comes up none of the 13-15 year old noobs have anything to say
-
Don't agree with any of these points
-
All the players jumping around and shooting in multiplayer has turned this into another HALO online match, but at least the campaign is great
-
The only problem I am having is the delay. Sometimes burning a whole clip into a guy with nothing happening to him or a kill happens 3 to 4 seconds later. This is the Beta so I understand it's not finished. Besides that I think the game is pretty balanced. I do wish the pulse rifle had a little less recoil but we are dealing with level 8 guns so I wont complain.

3 RepliesIm pretty sure if you see a glowing hunter thats pretty much a dead giveaway hes using a super
-
I think its tough to judge and balance a game that's not at its real end. I'm not making excuses or being a fan boy (even though I am) I just think that's the truth. Yes I've had some issues with lag, that I don't really think are evident of netcode issues but rather just Bungie pushing their servers beyond capacity. I'm not too worried because usually these things are ironed out. Supers are fine IMO, though guns may need some balancing. Maybe an auto rifle nerf. I think snipers are OK though. I actually used the hand cannon and scout rifle and did about average, however the auto rifle is so much easier. I feel that vehicles (after a few more matches under my belt) are easier to deal with. Honestly it bugs me more when the same people take them than the vehicle itself. Kill trading does happen quite a bit and this does seem to be a net code problem. However in close quarters my hunter knifes pretty fast, so it usually favors me. This still should be fixed though.

8 RepliesEdited by Cordic_Cyberpunk: 7/25/2014 7:14:36 AMI love destiny so far. Beta is much smaller then i thought and has me worried for how big the whole game actually will be. Pvp is ( player vs player ) NOT pvv ( player vs vehicles ) or pvt ( player vs turrets ). Pvp holds all most no fun for me and at best i will go only for points to get gear that is better then what i currently would have equiped. Also if you think pvp is bad now wait till the already favored pvp class hunters get the Arc subclass. Read up on it, going to ruin pvp with that subclass i think. Take out vehicles and supers then maybe it can start getting fair or " balanced".
-
Yeah the net code has some SERIOUS problems right now with getting delays on hits and sometimes the hits don't register at all!
-
Personally, I didn't really mind the multiplayer, though I'll have to agree that it feels like the game is not skill based what so ever. Venus was cool because of that maze type of feel with plenty of cover. The moon was a dreadful experience for me though. I think it all just depends on what map is being played.
-
1 ReplyThe game us Obviously different from other FPS games. Like the fact that your equipments are based on what you get from missions/explorations. No other games are like this. They should keep it like this because of its unique ways. As for the vehicles, i do think that the huge 1 should really be lowered. The best way to destroy that thing is by a supper charge or heavy weapons. I've also had MANY scenarios were both players melee each other and they both die. Also, i have been having late reactions, like when i shoot someone, they wont get hurt by the shoots a couple seconds later which gives them just enough time to get some hits on me and end up defeating me.
-
Dude its a beta of course its not balanced yet, CoD is never balanced when that first comes out. Its trail and error with multiplayer games.
-
I feel that once the full game is out the super abilities will not hinder PvP as you have said. The use of the other 3 subclasses will add just another element to gameplay strategy IMO.
-
1 ReplyDont like the PVP but love the coop. I dont like the fact that you can only use weapons you own. I can only imagine what the full game will be like. People who play casually & dont put as much time in will have weaker equipment & will just get smashed by the nerds that drill the game cos they have all the epic loot. Maps are pretty small, there's no big vehicles & heavy ammo pickups are poo. Im no halo fanboy but it seems like a step down to me.
-
You make some good points, but I believe that supers should stay. The only good way to really tackle this issue is by keeping your distance with your targets when you attack unless you have an excellent close quarters weapons. And you're right that players with supers are unknown to other player, except for the Hunter who obviously has his glowing golden gun.

3 RepliesI'm fine with the PvP, I first tried it and sucked, i found it was because i was using a Semi Auto Scout Rifle that didn't fire fast enough. And a sniper i wasn't skilled enough with. But when I switched to an Auto Rifle, and Fusion Rifle, i started slowly getting better and better K/D's. As for vehicles, nothing a well timed grenade wont fix, just lob it where they're going to be, not where they are. Depending on the grenade type, they could be blown up, blinded, have the vehicle destroyed, or all of the above. And if you want to level up in Crucible without ever PvPing, just find loads n loads of Spinmetal and trade it to the Crucible Vanguard Bot-Guy, you get Reputation, marks, and some glimmer...
