I still don't understand the huge deal. My sister has ABC on and they have teams across the Vatican, on the ground, in the air, etc. Yes, It's a big deal for Catholics. But, there doesn't need to be this amount of coverage...

  • A group of individuals acting as a unit to achieve a common goal. In this case, a news team. Derp.

  • I'm not - my sister has it on next to me with her first remarks being "I hope we get a Black Pope" In reality, it will more than likely be another old man who is dressed in flamboyant robes as a figure head for a corrupt organization. Great coverage.

  • Thats a real great attitude you have there! Theres only been 265 popes ever. Its a pretty big event when we get a new one...

  • To me, it's the equivalent of a new King or Queen for Britain. It's great infotainment, but it's not big news. And thanks, I'm just blunt. The Pope is a figurehead - he speaks at masses, and that is about all.

He really isn't. He's not a world leader, he's a spiritual leader - there is a huge difference. The Pope is a man elected, behind closed doors, to be a figurehead. There is nothing special about him.

  • There are 4 times as many catholics in the world as there are US Citizens. One could argue that makes him more important than a world leader or president. To say nothing is special about him, makes you an idiot.

  • And there are just as many Muslims. What's your point? He is a religious leader. Nothing more, nothing less. Then again, I'm antireligious so he means nothing to me. I don't listen to the masses, I don't listen to his opinions because 99% of the time they are based on a 2000 year old book.

  • It is outdated, full of contradictions and holds no basis for daily life.

Those red lines represent every contradiction in the book. Underneath, you can see what parts if you want to go see for yourself. Here It's not outdated?
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
Also, please, no clothing of mixed fabrics, no shaving of your beard, no shrimp if you please.

  • I dont take the bible literally. However, I use it everyday in my life. Let me correct myself on your first point. Some of the bible is outdated. Yes. To your 2nd point. I see no contradictions and ive read it over 10 times. Dont believe everything you see on the internet little man. And to your 3rd point. I use the bible every single day. As does billions of other people.

  •
To your 2nd point. I see no contradictions and ive read it over 10 times. Dont believe everything you see on the internet little man.
Think you may want to reread again. May I suggest using the image above as a basis?
And to your 3rd point. I use the bible every single day. As does billions of other people.
A good chunk of those only use the Bible as a basis for bigotry.

  •
I read the image. Again, dont believe everything you read on the internet young bull.
Then why should I believe you have read it 10 times? I honestly just think at this point, you just feel the need to oppose people here. In a thread where 99% of people go one way, you have to go the other.
