Greetings Guardians of Bungie.net. We would like to hear from all you PVP players out there on what kinds of changes to the Crucible you would like to see in the future. We have a short update from the team on our PVP plans going live in the TWID shortly calling for everyone to share their feedback to help us prioritize what changes we work on to continue to improve the Crucible experience. Whether it’s playlist preferences, matchmaking settings, Trials, comp, or anything else that affects the way Guardians battle each other, please post your feedback below.

Matchmaking wouldn’t take so long if you brought back 4v4 in the Crucible, which was the original format for D2, as well as change Comp to 2v2. Keep trials at 3v3. This would make matchmaking’s time much quicker. Plus Crimson Days was one of the best Crucible game modes. The Comp scoring needs fixed ASAP!!! Don’t wait until the next season or DLC, it is so frustrating only getting 30-80 points for a win, and losing 150-210 points for a loss!!! These changes might actually get more people to play Competitive so I’m not waiting 3-4 minutes just to get a match started.

necro as you climb the ranks. A lot like how LH and NF did but start small and let it grow into a solid adept. Maybe tie the trials one to that flawless 3,5,7 and then have the adept version drop after 2 or three flawless cards. I’ll admit I’m not a good a trial’s anymore, I had my time with it and a huge part of leaving trials for me was the lack of card based matchmaking. I shouldn’t have to lose or stomp the same team 3 times just because neither team has gotten 3 wins. I’ve towered, reset, reque; or finished a loss, reset, reque; into the same team so many times that I just don’t see a value in the existing matchmaking for trials anymore. For pc controller players we need to know that we can tune our deadzones and controllers the same way mice and keyboards can be, but I’m seeing blatant speed and ability hacks these days, that go unpunished meanwhile all my pc pals who prefer DualShock controllers are terrified that bungie will ban them for ds4windows and make them have to hard wire or buy new controllers whenever stick drift comes into play.

Take crossplay out of crucible

Edited by mxgreg: 9/7/2023 11:09:38 PM***Iron Banner*** -) Rumble Iron banner. -) IB with with rotating modes. clash, control, mayhem, etc. -) IB Craftable weapons and gear. -) IB exotic weapons -) IB Adept weapons. ( I would like "some" way to start with "ok" stats and build those stats by completing matches or a currency/kiosk ). -) A way to increase IB armor/weapon stats by playing IB. (Currency) -) Or give us a way to target 2 or 3 stats for armor. IB used to be a good way to get high-stat armor. -) More upgrade materials and a ghost mod to target those materials such as bright dust, ASCENDANT ALLOY, etc. Or make a longer rank-up rewards series similar to the seasonal rewards, but shorter and IB rank-based. -) Even point for wins and losses or better team balancing. I get you can't account for lag but talk to one of the ELO sites to better gauge a player's ability. -) Remove win requirements from title guiding -) Solo queue but give some indication of population levels, so you can make an informed decision. Or have the solo queue be the larger icon when the population numbers support it. ***Other*** new maps, Rotate maps every season new game modes. a mode with modifiers, such as or more: no radar, -/+melee, -/+grenade, -/+class, -/+sidearm, -/+scout, -/+hc, additional damage when away from teammates, etc. more modes with no radar. A way to unlock exotics that would only otherwise be available doing solo lost sectors. (Rotate weekly arms, chest, etc. maybe a quest?) Less crossplay... I'm on xbox to play with other xbox players, not PS. Make crossplay opt-in or at least occasionally have matches of the same platform.

the most important change, REMOVE SBMM
-
3 RepliesPut way more emphasis on movement/agility skills when using skill based matchmaking Also on repeat head shots with high recoil weapons at outside ranges Put peeps with mouse adapters against other mouse players on pc instead of controller players Boot players with laggy connections instead of letting them ruin matches
-
Remove AE and cancel the characteristics of stomp-ee5 and dodge binding. Based on the current weakened high-end battle situation, the performance of hunters is too weak.
-
I know many of you use Keyboard and Mouse, but please help your Space exploring peers using controllers improve how gunplay feels. Deadzones in Destiny are large by default. Much like input lag from a TV it adds a disconnect between what your doing and what is happening on screen. How this is fixed is by having a Deadzone slider for the controller settings where you can shrink the Deadzone to your liking. This makes it so as soon as your analog stick is pushed in a direction, your character is replicating that action instantly.

14 RepliesBuff us Hunters in PVP, bring back flawless pool, nerf juggernaut, please for the love of god, us Hunters are weak in pvp, flawless pool made Trials better, and Juggernaut is just overpowered making Titans able to take so much damage

As a player going on 5K hrs in the game, I's glad that someone is reaching out for feedback. Here are my 2cents. -We really need volume on footsteps increased 10 fold. There is zero reason I should hear reloading, jumps, supers, someone swinging a sword, and even emotes going on several rooms away, yet I can't ever hear some chunky guardian running full steam behind me until I hear the shotgun go off. -I know the game is centered around abilities and classes, but I would love to see a PvP mode that only allowed your jump and your gunplay. No supers, no grenades, no special abilities, just pure map knowledge and shooting skills. Maybe call it "Gunslinger" in honor of Cayde? -Special ammo drops should only come from primary kills. Nothing is more frustrating that to have a perpetual cycle of whatever broken fusion or shotty is meta in any given cycle, just roll around able to rinse and repeat a whole squad. Or, no more special drops at all, you only get what you spawn with, forcing you to be more selective in its use. -I feel movement is ok between Warlocks and Hunters, each having abilities that let let have some evasive moves in battle, but the titans do not. These moves also come instantly, as compared to a dash that a titan would have to charge up before being used -Maps. Sore subject I know, but more maps are needed. You are making some strides, but 1 a year, after a very long hiatus from anything, after vaulting a bunch of maps, just doesn't seem right. If it is at a point where Bungie can't/won't put effort into it, perhaps open up map development to the community is in order. Not to date myself, but that was one of the things that Id software did well with Quake1/2/3 so well. Players had the toolkits to make their own, and the community took it over and made amazing maps. -Match balancing. I feel the main issues here are not SBMM or CBMM, but rather the ability to have a round with too large a deviation of skill, in a match. So for example, change it so you don't have a team of (0.0/1.0/1.0/1.5/.8/4.5) go against a team that is (1.5/1.5/1.5/1.5/1.5/1.5). Even though they average out to the same skill, these matches always end up way lopsided. I'd suggest a max deviation of .3-.4 across the board. I think this alone would go a long way to solving the amount of mercies you would see. -Sliding and accuracy. I feel that any shots while sliding, should take a hit in accuracy. I know some strides have been made in regards to sliding sniper headshots, but this should also apply to all weapons. Sliding to give yourself a surprise/lower hit box while you engage, should have a cost to it. -Flinch. Make it relevant again. Across the board, every weapon should take, and dish out way more flinch on an opponent. -Lastly, this is more of a general shift in classes and what they mean, but if this is supposed to be a game that has different classes, there should be more differences in their attributes and benefits. Each need consideration as there should also be drawbacks. One example, referencing my above observation of a lack of equality in movement for titans. Maybe it should stay that way, and because they aren't as agile in battle, they have a bump in resilience as a trade off. Hunters, when invisible, should be the proverbial glass cannon, while they can sneak up on someone and have reduced visibility, they should be able to be killed more easily as it's trade off. I appreciate the optics here, and I hope it's genuine. I think everyone wants this to just be the best pvp that can be had, and listening to the player base is a great way to get that feedback. I hope to see some of my suggestions implemented at some point. Keep up the good work.

1 Reply1. Fix the lobby balancing. Please, can you look into making the games more even instead of the constant blowouts we see? This has been an issue for years now. It needs to be addressed finally. Lobby balancing is the biggest issue in Crucible. 2. Remove SBMM 3. Remove AE 4. Remove overshields. 5. Remove all melee lunges so that nobody can melee further than anyone else.

You made Halo. Make destiny pvp more like Halo pvp. Pretty simple
-
Edited by dannibal: 9/11/2023 3:49:27 AM1. Flinch is too high. Rewards perks over gun skill. 2. AE - remove 3. Antaeus Wards - c'mon. That is way OP. 4. SMGs still need tuning. Effective range is too far imo. 5. Connection based matchmaking in party modes. 6. Bows - you can still quick swap. Very cheesy. That's all for one thought.

3 RepliesA debuff needs to be put in place for the people that SPAM crouch while firing. Something like: lose accuracy when crouching while firing, stacks 10x, -100% per stack. Give people who DIDNT pay for a modded controller a chance.
-
remove heavy ammo from rumble. Next one isn't just for pvp but for all playlist. make playlist more rewarding TC shouldn't be affect by Freeze or suspend.
-
Bring back CBMM. SBMM is for non PvP players because they are always playing low tier players. We should have a casual playlist wherebwe can use weird builds and weapons outside of the meta without getting wrecked Be extremely aggressive against cheaters. Actual software cheats on PC and modding/scripting input hardware devices both on PC and console. Be so aggressive that people will be scared to even try them out. It's a plague on PvP. I think we need more maps that are meant for 6 v 6 or we need more gamemode options and regular (non COMP) 3 v 3 playlist. A casual one. A lot of people enjoy 3 v 3 but the only option is Competitive. Make a meme gamemode that forces people to use random weapons every time they die and respawn. It would be better than Relic which kinda blows...
-
1. Remove SBMM and FTMM across pvp. (You do not have the active player counts to support this). Return to PURE CBMM. 2. Major re-work of comp. Includes reputation +/-, powerful gear drops, new emblem/emote each season for ascendant and a whole lot more. (Make players WANT to play a competitive mode with increased reward). 3. Trials. Remove duo que. This has had an overall negative effect. Remove the practice pool. Stop dividing the player base. Again, referring to point 1, you do not have the player base to do this. 4. Iron Banner rewards need to be drastically increased. The drop rates for gear and weapons is pathetic. 5. Remove penalties for error codes from competitive games. 6. Remove Airborne Effectiveness. 7. Fusion rifles need adjustment. Drastically. 8. Antaeus Wards need a massive rework/adjustment. 9. Child of the old gods needs adjustment. Reduce damage range and tracking distance. 10. Address melee hit registry. 11. Endgame loot (raid/GM/lighthouse) should be all guaranteed to be a minimum of 65 stat roll. REWARD the community for accomplishing difficult feats. 12. (This is a personal idea) Buff/nerf certain subclasses every couple seasons to provide incentive to create new builds and use new subclasses. This helps keep the pvp and pve meta fresh and changing. I’m sure I can keep going, but generally, if you read through this post you will see the majority of people have the same consensus. While I understand not everyone will agree, there is no arguing what you can read for yourselves. The majority of people in this post tend to agree. On a side note, dedicated servers would be phenomenal. However, we all know this isn’t going to happen.

2 RepliesHere are some changes I'd like to see General Changes: -remove sbmm from casual crucible modes and IB, instead swap to ftbmm. you could also add protection for new players if needed -add combined arms to d2, the bug where you could ride on your sparrow on the vex net map was so fun and made me miss combined arms. In d2 it would fit really well and it could include d2 areas like the tangled shore, Europa, the throne world etc. You could also add the Drake tank as a special vehicle that spawns and maybe make the fallen walker one also, idk how or if the walker could be added but it would be awesome. - Well and bubble need a cooldown increase for crucible, also needle storm should break bubble -keep ae but make mobility give ae so we can build into it, for example 100 mobility gives a plus 30 bump to ae, similar to how resilience boosts flinch resist. Comp Changes: -some more comp rewards would be cool like rank specific shaders or a ship where parts of it change depending on your rank, for example like the dawning ship from a couple years ago where you could change the trail. For instance instance ranking up to different ranks unlocks different trails for the ship that are specific for that rank. --keep sbmm for comp placements but then swap to rank based matchmaking -Replace rift in comp with countdown, countdown always felt to me like d2s comp specific game mode and rift feels out of place in 3v3 -more comp weapons and making old comp weapons end of match rewards, this would help comp feel rewarding Trials Changes: -Old trials armor sets should drop at the end of a match regardless of win/loss, this would help trials feel more rewarding even if you didn't win the match. This was in D1 and should be implemented into d2 - I think trials should still be rewarding to none flawless players that have been putting time into the game mode. Either by rewarding an adept and ascendant shard from getting a certain amount of wins, maybe 20 or so, on their card (building on one of the focuses you guys had when revamping trials, which was encouraging playing on the same trials card) or when you reset your trials rank the first time you get an adept weapon. This would encourage keeping your cards instead of always resetting when its flawed. -More on trials cards, I think trials cards should should also give more rewards for turning them in like enhancement cores and weapons based on the number of wins. Like I mentioned above 20 gives you an adept and ascendant shard, and 7 or 10 gives you a weapon and some cores, prisms, and shards. -also add a trials emblem and or shader to rank rewards similar to IB, mainly just a shader would be fine similar to in d1 or trials of the nine when there was the general shader in trials that you earned from match wins but make it a rank reward. Keep flawless shaders as more unique and flashy like glorious patina (love the color changing). -More emblems from going flawless that change the glow or add flawless specific armor ornaments, could be one every other season/episode -Trials Modifier that restricts one Primary/special weapon type and super for that week, for example pulse rifles and shotguns get disabled in trials or well/bubble. It would be cool to test in trials labs and could allow for more weapon variation. -Make trials armor from the flawless chest artifice armor, PVP needs to have a way to get artifice armor. Currently if you play pvp a lot you're forced to farm dungeon bosses for artifice armor. Also once you go flawless you can keep playing to earn more, similar to getting adepts from playing more matches. These are all the changes I could think of off the top of my head. The trials changes are mainly centered around making time spent feel rewarding and encouraging people to play, regardless of going flawless or not. Thank you for asking us for feedback and listening.

eliteg👍 - old
posted this on its own just pasting here: Me: ---New Light.. would have never checked out d2 without f2p.. hung around for ~ 2 yrs then paid for Witch Queen/BeyondLight/30th aniv combo pack as thx before I left for almost a year before returning. ---I am not a farmable D1 fanboy. ---Started as PVE only.. PVP was very tough.. but PVP became my #1 thing to go to D2 for. ---Also am SftwProdMgr ------------------------------------------ (yes I would pay for the following changes) #1 Solo Que or Solo Adjusted for EVERYTHING. IN. THE. GAME. I am sure that there are very nice folks that choose to spend their time in the same game as me.. but I DO. NOT. CARE. I want every playlist, Raid, Dungeon, Mission..etc where there are, unfortunately, my PVP weapons.. to be scalable for just me to play or vs other solos as PVP. I do not care about LFG.. or your future fire team finder. Why would I ever pay for a game I cannot fully play myself after forking over cash? I am sure your TAM is mostly solos so this a no brainer and will fix so many issues. #2 Keep the PVE "gimmicks" out of PVP. (I hope I am not alone on this) --- no exotic weapons specifically.. but armor can be cracked as well.. should never take over the game. --- a mode or modes dedicated to weapons with> less abilities, no abilities, same abilities, armor does not matter, mods do not matter, weapons test mode, special meta mode and as above no exotics, no heavy and personally for me no shotgun :) For me Bungie your genius is/was > the weapons.. the balance.. the movement within a space fantasy setting. Even the RNG was fine as I wanted to the best I could even with a shitty weapon.. it was a doable challenge and fun.. but now everyone needs to play the unbalanced meta and go with godrolls. I like to change my weapons every game testing out what I can do well with.. quickly changing when I find out the map is longer range or trying to quit when its a horrible non skill frenzy like Anomaly. I think the armor and armor/weapon mods are a remnant of PVE/RPG that shouldn't play a factor in my weapons mode PVP.. and seem like a silly waste of time. In my opinion you have 2 different games now PVE and PVP... but you can still be successful with them both but have been ruining your credibility with total lack of focus for a big part of your community. I know its a long shot and you need to monetize it.. so put together a plan and do it.. c'mon! I did want to mention >> it is amazing, however, that a 6v6 match with different classes/abilities/supers/weapons.. can sometimes be balanced but its a rare and fleeting thing nowadays. Some extras: ---To freeze or slow me is not a PVP skill it is a PVE ability being used to frustrate a PVP dedicated player ---Give us the stats that matter for the matches! ---Stop the meta changes and balance all weapons ---Some of your maps are good give us more Remember PVE world stuff stays over there.. PVP world is different. Hope this helps!! -
Change to mobility and resilience. Current system favors titans and warlocks who can ignore mobility and still be faster then hunters from point A to B. In the case of the titan they actually are rewarded for having the mobility stat as low as possible. Make it easier to build into all three stats (mobility, resilience, and recovery) or add something to the mobility stat that makes it more worthwhile (actual running speed increase or airborne effectiveness for example). Also resilience should only affect ttk in pvp at the extremely low levels. Tier 10 resilience takes 4 shots to kill with Forerunner so a hunter and titan both using that weapon is a foregone conclusion. It just feels bad and with the new perk precision instrument this problem is going to become more prevalent. A hunter and titan both using the same weapon with the same perks but the hunter needs one more bullet to kill. That's not fun. Also nerf antaeus wards, have CBMM in the social Playlist, and add more rewards for playing pvp. I would literally be happy if I could focus my pvp engrams for world drops for the current season - which for some reason are the most rare weapons in the game. I get 100's of crucible engrams each season but only one new weapon outside of trials and the comp reward. Just dismantling all of them for legendary shards is not fun.

bring elimination backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
-
1 ReplyI have a simple suggestion bring elimination back I have felt like it would just be a good mode on its own or even a replacement for the other comp modes.

Abilities are very fun in pvp but they are really frustrating to fight. They are very easy to use and effective. They could be less free, more consistent and more skilful. For example, shield throw flying straight with a big hitbox but having limited tracking, knifes removed tracking but a cooldown buff or shoulder charge reduce tracking angle(mabye some other melees) but reduced energy consumed when moving. This could allow more counterplay unless the powerspike more appropriate (super, kill streak, cornered, etc). I would like to see if ways to get buffs before combat can be be reworked instead of nerfed/buffed eg:(bastion, cyrtarachne's, juggernaut, Antaeus, vanishing step, etc ). These are just examples but if they had stronger but riskier/limited(eg: icefall) functionality they would feel more impact full and fair. New fun modes and maps are very cool but they take time so I wanted to recommend the idea of more earned and fightable power spikes as a design strategy(Not necessarily less often). I'm not a game dev and don't know how much more fun this would be but I wish this strategy could be tried at least. RIP sword guard in pvp(it was fun while it was good) thanks Bungie for this feedback opportunity even if i'm ignored
