Though what you addressed is not nearly what my own priority & interests are ( i play crucible, but secondary to PVE), I do greatly appreciate the sit down & chat approach. Since the SOTG I've been under a STRONG impression that Bungie just doesn't care and sees their players as nothing but money bags. Though your efforts did not change that fully, it helps knowing you're willing to face the very angry player base. Please keep doing that, and please keep listening.
There is still plenty of opportunity for improvement & additions and a lot of us understand that its not easy going one direction or another, But I know I'm not the only one that strongly believes that Destiny is game with a vast, limitless potential.

Next time champ, when you're playing PvP and none of your teammates don't play objective. Do what I do, don't give them commendations for losing. That is what I do when teammates that just came over from playing a CoD match.

I watched that after I’d joined X to hear Joe speak without the opinions of others constantly interrupting. 🙄 IMHO: I enjoyed his fireside chat; those things aren’t easy when one is facing an upset audience, even when it’s behind the forth wall. Kudos to him for that! 👍 FWIW: like many, I’ve no issues with the worker bees at BHQ; otoh, I have zero warm fuzzies for the BHQ misManagement ‘architects’ - possibly the single biggest slayer in the Destiny universe! Destiny - Killed by The Architects 🗿 SMH 🙄 As an old tortoise, I’m hanging on by a few strands as it is…The Final Straw might be it, but whatever it is, there will be no further ten-year marathon run by this old tortoise, only a few snickers, perhaps?! 😏 Finally: Destiny’s untapped potential still remains…if only the right hands were charting Destiny’s future…if only?! 👈 Cheers! 🫡

Jesus… 🤦🏾♂️ Yeah the video explained some good things happening like the free map pack, PvP strike team, the free ritual armor set from Eververse, etc., BUT Bungie had took so many hits from their past decisions that their words don’t mean -blam!- anymore. Even from their Game Director. For starters, he said at the beginning of the video that the August 22 showcase was already recorded and that the ONLY thing they are focusing on in there was the STORY. There would be NOTHING about the SOTG or what they think about the community’s reaction to it. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind that since story had [i]clearly[/i] took a back seat in Lightfall and I wanna see how they could tie this 10 year saga together. But picture this: [i][u][b]What if Joe Blackburn DIDN’T send that video at all before the showcase? What would the community’s reaction to the showcase be then?[/b][/u][/i] For so many players, that showcase was the last thing that Bungie had left to convince them to buy their next expansion. There will be some stuff for PvE players to be excited about (if they care about story beats). For PvP players, however? Good luck trying to keep them around. The last point I want you to think about is the video itself. I will give him some credit, it takes some serious balls to go out and address the biggest issues that the community have with the game. But I just can’t help but think that he is ONLY doing this because of the whole community’s reaction to the SOTG article last week. The whole video just feels kinda forced in that regard, but maybe that’s just me. 🤷🏿♂️ I’m not trying to bash your stance, OP. I’m just VERY cautious right now due to Bungie’s track record of their words saying one thing and their actions proving another and I’m just sick of it. If they want me to buy anymore of their products, their ACTIONS must be louder than their words and right now, I don’t see any action.

I used to wonder how people can be duped into parting with their money in schemes like the recent bitcoin/SBF fiasco. I guess all they needed to be fooled was to be asked nicely and with a smile 😃

It was strictly damage control. They will be back to their old ways once Final Shape sells a ton of preorders on overhype. Blizzard did this same thing with OW2, promising more comms, etc. only to basically go radio silent.

[spoiler]I'm sorry, can you please let me do it again.[/spoiler] Barrett did it with the fist Dawning in year 1 of D2. They deliberately made the shop end-game content. Luke attempted to do it being fully aware he turned D2 base game into a microtransaction games. And here were are with Joe, same nonsense different day. The I'm sorry nonsense doesn't work anymore, all of them knew why ahead of time what they were doing was wrong, but they did it anyway. People make mistakes but when they refuse to learn from them mistakes, that's just BS, and that BS has been going on since the day D1 was released.

I never thought anyone would do a worse job than Luke Smith, but this guy actually has actively downgraded every single portion of the game, and is STILL consistently making changes that take it in an even more tedious direction. You're talking about a guy who believes "forever 29" was the golden age of the franchise. A guy who thinks less content equals more fun. A guy who thinks it should take 7 direct hit with a special grenade launcher to take out a yellow bar knight is perfect in a matchmade seasonal weekly activity. And that isn't even the half of the stupid, inane changes this "Joe" has made. It would take me an hour to list all of the things this "Joe" guy has made to the detriment of the Destiny franchise. It's at the point where on the rare occasion I feel like logging in I get disgusted and log out within one hour. Develop some standards.

Bungie has completely missed the mark when it comes to PvP. They had a game mode with a huge following that could give the game legs well beyond the PvE content and they didn't capitalise on that. The PvE mains also didn't help by constantly justifying Bungie's complete abandonment of PvP by repeating that this was a PvE-centric game and gaslighting those who prefer PvP.

5 RepliesWhy thank them? This isn't even a minimum effort yet. They have a long way to go to win back trust. You think one set of armor and a few pvp maps are good enough? Don't listen to what people say, watch what they do. Bungie has burned all the good will that most have for them and have to do a total rebuild.

after the dmg thing . bungie pulled back from speaking to us . and while im all for people voicing their opinions the fact that the dudes person and family got threatened over a video game is beyond me . so for me this silence is well deserved . i also think that bungie blamed the tubers behind closed door because i mean the tubers and streamers literally control community sentiment . think about how many vids and neg comments came behind the aztecross vid . and im not saying hes wrong but he did start a witch hunt . i believe the last 6 months has been -blam!- because they wanted to clean out the closet so to speak . and now all of a sudden when there is a content drought and streamers are dropping like flies from this game now joe is gonna have a weekly/ monthly? pod cast to talk to us . he will become the most famous streamer in this game over night . its bungie taking back control of the narrative so that they can control community sentiment . now for me this line of thought worries me because is it that they want to give us real feedback and open up actual communication to make a better game ?( im hoping ) or is it they just want us to be happy with the dog -blam!- they dish out . im just saying think about it ,someone like joe thats out there saying everything is good and okay .and the communtiy will say ahhh yeah we dont agree but okay joe . nownif someone like aztecross say the game is a dumpster fire and everyone should or do this or not do that . and the community is up in arms and ready to fight . these are the same tactics use in politics and people just keep going for that crap . i say this to say that we all need to stary having our own mind about things and not listening to some tuber or game direct tell us whats good and bad .it creates rifts in the community and factions of people with opposing ideas and nothing ever gets accomplished like that.
