Why no Crossbows?
Kinetic lightweight frame primary-
Solar precision frame energy- Semi-Auto - 3 bolt burst (yes a guy in Germany designed a semi auto crossbow , videos on YouTube.
Heavy adaptive frame Void - volatile bolts

3 RepliesHonestly, I like the idea of a Crossbow, the problem is that a weapon that is a one and done thing until you load the next bolt and pull back the tension string doesn't fit the kind of game Destiny is. Regular bows are the same way, they really don't have a purpose nor play well (unless you use Le Monarque) into the meta. Tell me, when was the last time you actually SEEN a bow outside of Wish Ender or Trinity Ghoul? Probably never, and that's just because full auto weapons dominate the close to mid ranges, Scouts, Pulses and Hand Cannons fill the the mid to longer ranges (Hand Cannons can achieve this if the range stat is pretty high and the player is willing to take it slow on engagements) Bows are supposed to be an alternative, but they're just so weak in their current state (excluding Le Monarque) and they have no use case in the general gameplay loop of Destiny.

I always thought that crossbows could just be an archetype of bows. Still in the same family, but a "Trigger" frame (like how some GLs are Wave frame). They'd be just like bows, only that they're already ready to fire (no draw time needed) and you instead reload the next shot after firing in the downtime after

I wish bows had a slower projectile in this game but with the ability to one shot. Not only would bows now be higher skill but also be extremely rewarding for having that skill. It would make more sense to have crossbows that plays out how current bows play out with hitscan arrows that dish out a ton of damage but unable to one tap.

Thinking like single shot, special ammo, similar to a Grenade Launcher. Blinding Bolts, Suspending Bolts, Jolt Bolts, Fusion Grenade-like Bolts. Maybe one with Bleed effects. But idk

Not really a need for it. It would basically be a single shot sniper or a worse version of the bow due to its slow reload.
