I’m serious I miss having full dlcs such as the taken king, forsaken. This company obviously can’t develop something that big on their own. At least with a big company backing them they won’t copy and paste as much, we’ll get more content.

Microsoft got so much money and they making more It appears they’re cornering the market tbh. I could be way off but who’s stopping them lol

1 ReplyWhy would Microsoft buy this mess?

7 RepliesI absolutely love how often the forums proclaim how dead D2 is and how Bungie mistreats it, but Bungie's been nominated for community support award twice, and even won is last year. These forums are so disconnected from the outside world. I think veterans day proved that lfmao.

10 RepliesYes, let's have Microsoft buy them so they can replace everyone at Bungie with Microsoft's people, who are consistently worse and worse every year. Let's have Microsoft buy them so their customer support will be infinitely worse, and their policies will become so convoluted and anti-user that it puts Playstation to shame. Let's have Microsoft buy them so Mr. Gates can laugh as we watch the game become totally unrecognizable in the worst possible way, because Microsoft has so many other IPs under their belt that who cares if Destiny dies, they'll just make another one and get a big boost to their wallet in the first few months from people buying it expecting better, only to find it's worse, because Microsoft can't do a sequel to save their lives. I'm an xbox player. I'm a playstation player. I'm a pc player. I'm a nintendo player, and a phone player. I play on literally all platforms. And I can say without a shadow of a doubt, Microsoft buying this game WOULD kill it off. Sure, someone better could do great things with Destiny 2 if given the chance. But Microsoft isn't someone better.
-
Why on earth would they sell at this stage. They can milk what they have for the remainder of the franchise with minimal effort and make easy $$$$$
-
No thanks, Microsoft only wants money. Thats why they bought Activision since they know the COD kids always spent a ton of money for the season passes and other stuff. COD is full monetization on top of the mess that they make you buy the game too in order to play it. You really want that cancer here on Destiny? I sure as hell don’t, ill take what we have over a game like COD any day. The ever verse is tolerable because we can purchase stuff with bright dust but any more than that and I would quit this game too. I used to be a COD die hard but the company killed it for me once they monetized every single thing.

5 RepliesMmmmmmnope Halo infinite. Nuff said.

It just comes down to price.

Edited by SomarYNot: 1/21/2022 2:16:04 AMThey wouldn't let them buy them maybe some kind of partnership where High Moon and vicarious come back to bring the game back to it's former glory (if their smart...) If Microsoft bought them they'll take the IP from them and the franchise like they did with Halo, so far rest of D2 is all digital so let's wait and see what they do when they actually have to distribute discs again: ie.D3 Matter Full ownership goes into effect June 2023 so we'll be in Light fall by then Hopefully an announcement on what's next after final shape

18 RepliesNo, there would be Xbox exclusive content ,and All future updates may be for Xbox only Microsoft is trying to monopolize the gaming industry the same way they tried to do the PC Industry

19 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 1/20/2022 12:36:06 PMDisagree. If Bungie were still under Activision's thumb, then this would be a good idea. Being bought out by MS will likely make Call of Duty BETTER (and less of a cash cow), and will give Blizzard the space they need to create the "curated" games that they like to make. (MS gave 343 6 years to make Halo Infinite...and didn't hesitate to give them an additional year when it looked like it wasn't ready). But Bungie is free of Activision, and is using that freedom to make many of the same "good" calls that MS tends to make when it comes to releasing games from their owned companies (subsidiaries). In the end, Bungie wouldn't benefit from being bought out....and MS and Bungie have danced this dance before and Bungie has made it clear that they are done with someone else tellign them what to do, and dipping into their profits. OTOH, companies like AB and Bethesda will likely get better as a result of their being owned by MS. Bethesda has gotten "lazy" (hate that word). They have gotten into the habit of releasing undercooked games, with buggy, dated gameplay on an obsolete engine. Then relying on a modding community to fix them. Being owned by MS will give them the time and space (if they choose to use it) to update their tools and even create a MODERN engine (like 343 did for Halo Infinite). Activision will no longer have to crank out CoD games every year in order to keep Wall Street happy, because its finances will now be under the MS umbrella...and shielded from that kind of growth-at-any-cost pressure. They'll have time and space to make CoD games that are better, and put them out less frequently. Like Ubisoft did with Assassin's Creed games once they fought off that hostile takeover. They started releasing them every OTHER year....and they got better as a result. They started giving them ongoing support post-launch...and they got better still. (Activision will also be freed from a CEO (Looking at you Kotick) who acted more like a corporate raider in the obscene amounts of money he was taking out of the company in compensation, rather an executive in a company he wished to see thrive. ) Blizzard was slowly being undermined by the same pressures that were facing Activision...and I think it led to the decrease in quality of World of Warcraft...and the exodus that game is now facing. Being bought out by MS also frees them up form that Wall Street pressure, and the potential to once again become that boutique/up-market game dev that long-term gamers see them as. In fact, Blizzard is a cautionary tale of being careful about you hop into bed with businesswise. The merger with Activision helped Activsion, but arguably hurt Blizzard and its reputation. Just like it did to Bungie when they did it to bring Destiny to market. The issue with Destiny is that you have a player base that expects World of Warcraft service at Fortnite prices....and that's just not going to happen. Persistent world games are expensive to make and maintain....as all of Destiny's potential competitors found out. As they failed because their creators either couldn't or wouldn't resource them properly. Bungie is hiring aggressively to increase their resources to make content. But this community needs to get real about the amount of financial support from us that is going to require if we want that kind of game.
-
Bungie has had a history of having trouble meeting deadlines while under a higher power. Before Activision with Destiny 1 and early D2, it was Microsoft with Halo.
-
Yea.......not gonna Happen. Bungie wants to stay independent. They don't want to answer to another Entity they don't have to.

3 RepliesEdited by SYKEVANDAL: 1/21/2022 2:09:51 PMThey already did that once. So, the misconception that many have is that Bungie was ‘owned’ by Activision/Blizzard. Not true, in 2010 Bungie entered into a 10 year publishing deal with Activision. In 2020, it ended and was not renewed. Microsoft bought Bungie awhile ago for the Halo franchise, rolling them into their Microsoft Studios family. Then they were spun off as a LLC (2007-Current) with Microsoft still retaining a minority stakehold. Edit: Correction - It appears the Activision distribution contract was announced as ended in January of 2019, ahead of its 2020 term date. So,…I doubt there is any interest in “reclaiming” what they already have a voice of control over. Edit: Additionally, rumor has it Bungie is working on some new intellectual property (unrelated to Destiny) that is schedule for release in 2025. I’d say Destiny has run it’s course as of 2023 and will be allowed to continue to fester while the first-string talent works diligently on learning from the mistakes of Destiny for the new project.

Someone entitled caliming beyond light was copy and paste, next?
-
If Microsoft bought Bungie, Bungie would have to reboot their servers every two days...it is the Microsoft way.
-
It wouldn't change anything unless they fired a bunch of devs.
-
Backing them is different from owning. And what has MS put out that is so great? Took years to put out Halo Infinite and it’s basically just a copy and paste with better graphics.
-
1 ReplyOh yes PLEASE. Bungie isn't remotely capable or willing to maintain this huge project Destiny. They pretty much abandoned the core game in exchange for Fortnite season passes every 3 months and throwaway seasonal content while they keep ripping it apart with the DCV. This Franchise has no competition at all. Warframe is the closest one and in that game, gunplay feels worse than that ingames from 1999. Please let a Publisher buy this franchise to actually maintain it rather than ripping it apart bit by bit and sucking the last penny possible out of their loyal fanbase, treating the game like a cash cow.

I own both xbox and ps5 so it don't matter to me if it was exclusive to Xbox.

11 RepliesThe last time Microsoft owned Bungie, $10 got you three pvp maps & nothing more.

1 ReplyEdited by TheShadow: 1/20/2022 2:30:26 PMYeah, about that. You should go play Infinite and see how great that turned out with all the wonderful support from Microsoft 👍

Microsoft now owns Vicarious Visions - even if they're not actually a studio anymore - they could help Bungie in so many ways. I agree with your post.
-
I think it might happen eventually

Bungies greed has no bounds if Microsoft throws enough money at the screen theyll bark
