Free to play good or bad?
I think i no what people r going say to my Question but lets see do You think free to play is good or bad for d2?

1 ReplyIt’s more of a demo IMO (which is perfectly fine). Most of the game is behind one paywall or another.

I say it’s good. It brings in more players for core activities. Helps keep the game alive. With the current model if a F2P player likes destiny they could buy a recent expansion and/or season and continue to enjoy themselves. People that say cheating makes F2P bad assume that there would be and never was cheating if the game was entirely pay to play. There will always be cheaters. F2P just makes it cheaper, so it can feel like it exacerbates the problem.

1 ReplyHow can Bungie make F2P better, and why haven't they done that yet? To me, those are better questions. By itself, though F2P, is good for player base. Is F2P open to exploitation? Of course. Is F2P good or bad is too simple. Why is it bad, and address those issues.

PvE goooood for playlist player count. PvP baaaaad so many cheaters using throw away accounts. Should be restricted to quick play ONLY for people trying the game out or outright no PvP for F2P

2 RepliesDespite what Bungie said, D2 isn't F2P. The wife downloaded D2 to play with me and within a 2 weeks has almost nothing left to do except patrol. You literally have to buy the DLC's and season passes in order to have any kind of fun, she said the base game feels more like a demo instead of being "free". Destiny should rebrand itself to "free to demo".

Bad. It's how cheaters work around getting banned, and it isolates people who are actually considering picking the game up because it limits what they can do severely unless the buy the expansion and the current Season Pass. Bungie goes from giving those players a free experience to immediately demanding a hundred dollars within thirty minutes.

1 ReplyBad. F2P brings nothing but cheaters and subpar "content" in the form of seasonal passes. Since D2 went F2P both the quantity and quality of viable DLC has dipped massively only to be replaced by eververse crap and 1 exotic all of which isnt even worth the $10. Then the seasonal activity is nothing more than a boring grind for subpar reskinned loot as well. Ive so tired of astral alignment i migh not even finish the quest unless something actually worth my time investment becomes available at completion like a token that give me a 25% vex drop increase on vog runs and increases until vex drops, that would be abput the only thing worth it rn 🤣 F2P is just bad no matter which way you slice it

I don't see how anything "free" can truly be bad. If you don't like the game, great, you never spent any money on it so move on. If you like the game, great, pay for the DLC(s) and you'll have more stuff to do. Don't want to do that? Don't complain then, you're not fully invested yet anyway.

I’m a free to play player and the chance for destiny to be free let me play it, even without the dlcs I loved it. I think the free to play experience is healthy for the game

5 RepliesF2P signalled the change in Game Development coupled with the introduction of the Season Pass model. Overall the game hasn’t improved whatsoever since the launch of Forsaken. Thanks to being F2P it doesn’t have to. Bungie is making money off of Eververse and the Seasons and allocating minimal studio resources to new content development. The tried and true Fortnite and WoW formula is ensuring the game remains profitable and the focus can remain on developing the new IP.

Its good for player population but not so good as far as keeping the game from feeling like too much of a transactional, wholly numbers-based experience. I'll always think it should be kept in some form or fashion though because with something that costs money it can be really easy for people who can afford it to forget that some people can't, even though that's not really the reason that f2p exists (and a good portion of the people who are f2p are probably just cheap skates). And everyone is supposed to be able to play Destiny on some level (or not, I don't decide that).

It’s a miracle that I have a clan full of irl friends who were willing to pay for the horde of dlc’s to play with me and a few others. The base game being free is a great idea given that there’s multiple paid dlc’s and season passes.

F2P is only good at making sure pve and pvp matchmaking goes quicker. The fact that f2p is only the base game detracts from the time and investment bungie put into other parts of the game. Eg bungie make a lot of cosmetics each season to entice whales to buy from eververse where as they should be using those teams to work on gameplay cosmetics from raids, strikes, trials and ib.
