Now that I've spent over 2,000 tokens with Shaxx to get the mod, I don't really care. The game should just control like the Traction mod is on by default though. Making your game feel like you're controlling through tar just to add some grind is about the lowest form of game design you can have. Its amateur and pathetic.

Like OP mentioned sprint lock was the same problem which they "fixed" in RoFe with Jolder's memory
-
Yeah. Destiny 1 had sprint on a cooldown. I don't understand Bungie's choices sometimes.

i could be wrong, but i was under the impression that traction drops from Banshee. It was one of the first mods i got back at the beginning of shadowkeep.
-
I got it from Shaxx. But it could drop anywhere
-
It's more about the fact that traction is even a thing.

Most of the mods for armor that are basic dropped on engrams for me in Shadowkeep. My guess is anywhere works for core stat mods and some passives. I spent most of my resources on getting the rest of the non-enhanced mods from vendors afterward.
Spider and Brother Vance are perfect in getting the normal versions.
It could. I turned in 5k materials to him and didn't get it. Turned in 1k to Zavala, didn't get it, then the 2k to Shaxx. It definitely dropped from Shaxx for me, but could be in all 3 loot pools.

They exist for all of them just uncommon. If you have extra resources, try Spider and Vance for Sim seed donations. I got all of the normal mods that way. Took a collective time span of 3 hours because of slow console load times.
Use Legendary Shards, not Glimmer. Much more efficient.
