So in order to attempt to make toptree Dawn blade viable in PvP, they've nerfed the only non-floaty solar movement, the Burst Glide - the major PvP movement mode available to the beleaguered Warlocks here.
"We know this is a controversial change," they say, well no sh## Bungie. The already recently nerfed bottom-tree Daybreak - the only viable Solar subclass - is getting even more destroyed here. No one wants to move with "grace" like "an angel", we need to be crucible-lethal Bungie with not gracefulness. Which fantasy is being enabled here? A Hunter-Titans, again?
And for what benefit - to statistically the most underperforming PvP class in the entire game, the Warlock [ Recent source: https://guardian.gg/2/class-stats?platform=console&mode=5&start=2019-11-15&end=2019-11-22 ] - but to better float motionless in the air out of cover in toptree and so get shot to hell. All the while with Wings of Sacred Dawn so we look exactly like a guy in a six-year old girl's fairy costume - with or without the ornament$$. No thanks. So here and only here on top-tree does burst glide perform even as it does now! Not better, just as good! Holy hell. But we do get a better dodge, well we're going to need it now! Crucible does NOT lean towards valuing air superiority at all, what are you guys thinking?
The Celestial Fire - will that one shot kill as the Hunters does? No, I didn't think so. As the class rift ability, usual melee and floaty movement - all the core of the Warlock build is otherwise PvP garbage. No one thinks a rift is the equivalent of a Barricade or a Dodge-recharge. And why is its Melee slower than all others, other than to guarantee you will lose each and every melee duel? I strike first and they actually still win with two strikes. Faster reactions - you lose Warlock. Super damage resistance? Worst class by far.
Middle tree? That's all about protecting other players play THEIR game, so wonderful, and generally profoundly useless in PvP.
Look, Warlocks have long, long needed a serious PvP overhaul and this just robs a decent MAJOR subclass option that players were using to pay for another whilst not at all addressing the core problems indeed making the whole problem even MUCH worse.
EDIT: Aztecross has just posted about this very fundamental class imbalance of the Hunter D2 meta and how intractable it is. Like I titled, it's caught in a downward spiral: OP Class > Meta Dominance > High Vocality > OP Perpetuation. Link given at the end.
Quote from AZTECROSS "For me, I'm not gonna lie man, every time we make a Hunter build - despite us not even being a Hunter main - we'll get THREE or FOUR TIMES the views on our Hunter builds in comparison to our Titan and Warlock builds. So, yes, inside of Crucible there are more Hunters and for GOOD REASON: Hunters are good man. This is almost gonna be sacrilegious right now saying this but if I woke up one day and said, hey I want to become the best player I can POSSIBLY BE, the skill ceiling on a Hunter is WAAY BEYOND what we have on the Warlock or Titan classes.
And I don't see this being fixed even in the Season of the Dawn sandbox, the sandbox after it, or EVEN IN ENTIRETY OF DESTINY2. The fact is the Hunter Dodge, as well as the Hunter's mobility and agility, it's stopping go power - all of it - is BUILT TO KILL OTHER GUARDIANS."

bungie have and always will ruin anything thats good for a warlock, it is near impossible to beat a d2 hunter in pvp, all they do is nerf every other class because of pvp hunters... awful company kneeling to awful players

New forum post actually was posted here - https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/254528119/0/0

2 RepliesAm I the only one who thinks Wings of Sacred Dawn plain needs reworked? Sure there's a few times where stopping yourself mid-air to shoot someone may work, but how often is that actually going to yield good results since you're forcibly exposing yourself from multiple angles? If the enemy is a Guardian, they'll more than likely blast you out of the sky even with that damage reduction unless you surprise attack them; at best the reduction will be enough to win a 1v1 even if both sides actively engage. In PvE, multiple ads will focus you and being stuck in the air means you're open to attack from multiple angles, and this is even worse in higher difficulties where ads don't drop as fast. Imo, it should simply be a glide enhancing exotic. Increase the speed from glide, let glide last even longer, increase the vertical distance from it, some combination of the aforementioned, or something else entirely.

Bump. I’m back also!!

2 RepliesThey're pretty much undoing everything the Go Fast update implemented. Dawnblade needs to be fast to avoid sustained damage while in mid air. The super does not regenerate health per kill and the blades' splash damage aren't a guaranteed kill. With the lower super armor for supers, speed is what supers need to rely on to reduce damage as much a possible. Nova Warp is a great example of what happens when you nerf the speed of super that relied on it to close the distance of engagement. Nova Warp's main problems are its speed and charge up times.

3 RepliesEdited by WormChi: 11/23/2019 12:36:10 AMThe melee nerf is beyond absurd at this point. What has it been 27 months?? Also - how about a buff to Nova Warp. They gutted the shîte out of it but seem fine when balancing S tier supers like spectral blades and Striker.
-
13 RepliesIt's inevitable it seems. I'm just patiently waiting for the handheld supernova/ contraverse hold nerf to be announced. Then I'll switch back to arc web Stormcaller and wait for that to get nerfed. Hunters and Titans have had literal months of broken abilities, supers and exotics. Warlocks had what, a few weeks when Nova Warp came out before it was nerfed into the ground? Amazing.

The biggest drawback to playing a Warlock in PvP is the lack of reaction-based abilities. We can't Dodge out of the way or jetpack up and over players. Our melee is also included in this. Sure this isn't the class for that sort of thing. Yet you would think we would have more than a few counters. Grenade abilities are all good and well but....thats it?

Nova warp still sucks

23 RepliesWarlocks have some of the best set ups for pvp but okay... maybe you just don’t know how to build one.

Edited by Shiny Gengar: 11/25/2019 4:59:59 PMYa I played hunter for a solid 3 months during forsaken and ya it’s crazy how easy it is to play... oem titans on the other hand... literal training wheels

5 RepliesWelcome to what its like being a hunter lol

I've just added one EDIT to the top post with a new quote from Aztecross. Here just so some people read it. I expect only Ad Hominems to follow but it's the truth, the STATISTICAL TRUTH. ..... 1 ReplyWarlocks take a bit more work to consistently outplay other classes but I don't think they are weak in any way. The melee speed and range could do with an increase - it does feel clunky compared to a Titan. I would also increase the speed of Axion Bolts as they are so slow. And maybe a very slight decrease in the time it takes to cast your Rift. They do have the best PvP exotic in the game IMO, Ophidian Aspects.

1 ReplyCame here to see warlocks defend their OP movement and sword tracking. Get real folks.
-
25 RepliesTitle is a little click baity. Warlocks are VERY strong in PvP. THose who think otherwise do not know how to play them.

72 RepliesI love how all the warlocks are up in arms about these changes. Many of the reactions are along the lines of.... 'Waaaaah I'm quitting the game' 'Waaaaah you ruined warlocks' 'Waaaaah why are locks getting nerfed' 'Waaaaah my dress is ugly' You aren't getting nerfed - you're getting balanced. You had a super that let you traverse an entire map in seconds and fire ranged bolts of death. Anyone that was semi decent with a lock could smash a team with that so I say it's about time for a change. Also crying about the new 1 hit knifes hunters get...were you crying when locks got handheld supernova and ran about 1 shotting everyone from 20 feet? Didn't think so. At least the hunter one HAS to be a precision hit. To all the locks out there...
Dry your eyes and get on with it.
4 RepliesJust get good. Maybe I am garbage at FPS, but even I noticed that difference between first and last place on scoreboard was always my weapon choice and has nothing to do with playing Warlock.
-
*cries in Contraverse handheld supernova* But yeah, removing Warlock skating from the super is pretty stupid.
-
4 RepliesWarlocks are fine. The only glaring thing that needs changed is their melee speed needs to be fixed to be in line with the other classes. Otherwise, they are completely fine, and most good players know how to use them correctly.
-
1 ReplyI don’t see why you’re complaining...I run a warlock and still manage 40 kill games...
-
9 RepliesAfter playing some recent killer Warlock builds, I don't agree. If you are going Voidwalker, this class is fantastic in PvP. I haven't used Dawnblade much though. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
-
If bungie does Nerf warlocks... Again! Then they should buff nades and Nerf striker titan because I'm tired of seeing a Titan striker moving from one side of the map to the other by spamming shoulder charge with little to no effort. bungie nerfed Nova warp for doing that same thing.

32 RepliesEdited by Smough: 11/23/2019 6:40:08 PMI’ve said it before (far too many times) and I’ll say it again. If you think warlock is bad, then you’re just bad at using warlock. Unless you’re really terrible at bottom tree dawnblade, which you shouldn’t be after the buffs given to it, the speed nerf won’t change anything. You’ll still have the ability to yeet tracking and exploding swords at 50mph at whoever dares to oppose you. Why bungie made a ranged super like that also be able to fly at mach 5 I’ll never know, but you shouldn’t need that speed for dawnblade to work well.
The only truly bad warlock super in pvp is novawarp, for obvious reasons, everything else is either fine or really good.
1 ReplyI main a warlock and dont think it's any easier or harder to use. Admittedly its alittle slow and punches in slow motion but who doesnt after a beer or 2.. Plus let's be honest, you dont have to have 1 char, you can have one of each and on top of that, warlocks get the best exotics in the game (aspects)
