I am not arguing for or against that point. If you cannot grasp that fundamentally they both are PRIDE for their groups, then I am unsure what to tell YOU. What those groups say or do or even represent is moot. I agree that White Pride nationalist groups are Sh1t and that gays have been repressed through out time. HOWEVER, neither of those points negates that fact they are both pride groups lol.
White pride is a far right ideology to oppress minorities.
So you're comparing a group that advocates equal rights for people who do not fit in the gender/sexual norms, with a group that attacks anything that's different.
So can you point me to the news stories where white people are beaten up in their own nebiergoods for being white?
Because it happens to gay and trans people on a daily basis usually by those espousing white pride ideals.
If you're not trolling I would be seriously concerned about you. Because you're excusing violence against minorities by trying to excuse a majority hate group.
Why are people so afraid of things that are different?

That's not the original argument. That's a strawman. The original argument was to whether or not the White pride is considered a "Pride" group. To which they absolutely are. Not once did i excuse violence anyone. 2nd, I have people close to me in my life that are in fact gay. You speak like an entitled brat with very little to no world experience when you assume things in that nature.

Well that shows everyone what you really are, oh and the "some of my best friends are" comment is just.... I am 49 years old well travelled lived in other countries senior professional and because I disagree with you I am a self entitled brat? I would so love to meet you just so I can feel superior. Anyway muted for being a bigot apologist. Oh and because I'm a brat waaaa waaaa. /facepalm

Edited by Tactical Barbi: 10/7/2019 6:17:20 PMReading these posts are quite eye opening. I wonder if someone made a group Male Privilege what the response might be? I think people on the base of perceived power as status quo cannot see the forest for the trees. It doesn't mean they are racist or homophobic hence the argument why is white pride bad. It isn't in itself necessarily. But it leaves out the context and there is the issue. I posted somewhere in here the article Understanding White Privilege by Francis Kendell. It is a good article to explain WP because I don't think most really know what it is. It's just some word the media throws around and it seems unfair for those that aren't inherently racist. That being said, I understand why you think Gay Pride and White Pride are different . Well as much as I think I can. I have brothers but can't say I understand what it is to be male exactly.

I appreciate your reply however this is from an article on medium.com, this is not just me saying this this is a widely held stance:
No, “black pride” isn’t racist, and yes, “white pride” is. Why? Because racism is a power dynamic in which the politically dominant race (in most of the world, whites) oppress others in ways that include creating and maintaining the narrative that being non-white is intrinsically inferior, less civilized, more barbaric, and generally something that one should be ashamed of. The corollary to that is that white people are better. In that climate, pride movements for oppressed people (Gay Pride, Chicano Pride, what have you) involve overcoming the shame and self-hatred society tells you to feel, to be proud that you are what you are and that you deserve equal treatment and respect. White pride, on the other hand, is pride in the assumed superiority of whiteness, in a society in which whites do not face oppression on account of their skin color. That’s the difference. It’s also important to note that these phrases aren’t just phrases, they’re products of specific political ideologies and movements. Using the phrase “white pride” signals that you align with the white nationalist, white supremacist ideology that coined it, in much the same way that saying “black pride” signals an affiliation with the Black Power and other Civil Rights Era movements that popularized the term. They may sound the same, but their history and their purpose are worlds apart.
Thanks for sharing and it sheds some light on the subject. I will be honest, I am not 100% sold on groups like this. I understand how and why they are formed and and agree why they are needed or wanted. But does it create barriers at the same time? I think yes because those that don't understand WP and such, can't often see WP because it's normal. When they see groups like this the reaction is I am not racist and why can't I be proud of what I am too. Also the media or pop culture throws this term around without anyone explaining what it truly is as is evidenced by most of the reactions in this post. I think though also, the responsibility to change largely should be on the ones who hold the privilege. My world is not as racist as in these posts. But it is a good learning experience and maybe I see now why we still unfortunately need groups like Gay or Brown Pride. I appreciate the education and your willingness to politely share. Apparently I should look at better preparing my son against ignorant bias. Peace.

I never said they are the same. Again only in definition of the term Pride. Please in your old wisdom learn reading comprehension. I simply tried to explain by definition why they are both considered pride. Not the same as to what they are pursuing and or about. Also, side note, it's a family member. once again you assume.
