To the remove pvp crowd, I think anthem proves not having pvp doesn't guarantee good pve

Reminds me of destiny when it first came out.

I thought it was pretty fun, and while it’s a bit lacking in content, Bioware’s got a pretty good track record so I’m confident they’ll do good with it.

13 RepliesDude. Games are like food. Just because YOU don't like the taste of a particular dish, doesn't mean that other people don't enjoy it. My father used to love German Chocolate cake. I hate any baked good with nuts or coconut on it....and I DESPISE any with **both**. I'm loving what BioWare has done with Anthem, and am legitimately having more fun playing their game than I have had in months playing Destiny. Doesn't make me a "fanboy", because----after pushing 80 hours----I'm well aware of the game's flaws and limitations. But those flaws do not affect MY enjoyment. ...and after 20 years of playing loot-based games, I can honestly tell you----from a design standpoint----Anthem is a better loot-based game than Destiny 1 or 2 were at lauch... ....and arguably better than Destiny 2 still is. Which is why I find playing Anthem fun...and I've grown to find playing Destiny 2 at this point a joyless chore from an RPG standpoint. Destiny is an the world's best **arcade** game in my eyes, at this point.

2 RepliesThe game never looked good to me, and upon seeing more of it I feel completely justified in saying as much and trying to dissuade people from buying the game. I would honestly recommend Destiny 2 over it, because despite the flaws it has, I actually enjoyed parts of Destiny 2. I’ve seen nothing in Anthem that would make me say the same.

What kind of modern multiplayer game comes out with no PvP? That’s probably the dumbest decision ever made by a video game company.

Anthem is already discounted at Amazon. The people who say it’s good are ones that are generally bad players at Destiny and are in denial about spending $60 on a turd. You know what happens when you try to polish a turd?

You're right. But I bet fixing anthem won't be as bad as trying to balance destiny. Bungie has to balance weapons for both. Anthem just needs pve. Things can get a bit overpowering in a pve game better than pvp. Usually if you're sick of having strong weapons in pve all you got to do is switch to something less powerful. Most games have had rocky releases. I remember battlefield 4 was bad when it came out. But it got fixed and it's one of my favorite games.

11 RepliesI spend a lot of time on other forums, and one thing I've noticed bout Anthem is that the people who touted it as a "Destiny killer" are using the same defenses that they previously mocked Destiny players for using. I don't ask for perfection, but given the fact that Anthem had been in development for so long and had so many examples of what not to do provided to it, it's hard to justify the current state of the game. You shouldn't need time to grow when you've been provided a road map of what to do and what not to do. Will it improve? Probably. But there is no excuse for the game we got when you've been so many examples of what not to do.

6 RepliesI'm loving Anthem and not missing D2 at all. When not playing Anthem I play AC Odyssey, D2 is so boring I have no wish to play to receive garbage I just dismantle. I dislike gambit so next season is gonna be avoided. I may level up but I can always do that in season 7. Before I get shit off the bungo fanatics I've almost 2800hrs on D2, I've done it all and I'm still lacking items due to the shit rng system

There are no guarantees in life ( beyond death ), and as such the absence of a PVP mode from a shooter game doesn’t automatically guarantee great PVE. However, the thing that no PVP in Anthem guarantees, is that BioWare will have to work harder on the state of Anthem’s PVE since they don’t have a PVP mode to fall back on. For better and for worse, all their time and effort has to go to making PVE content. There will be no distractions from making new content, and no conflicts of interests when balancing PVE power for PVP parity.[/i]

I feel like so many reviewers out there just pick one side and blow it out of proportion. I saw a guy bashing the facial animation...but after playing I realized he picked the WORST moment in animation in the game, and zoomed in to degrade quality. There are parts that look awesome, are acted well, and have a ton of life! He could’ve picked that, but no, you have to hyperbolize everything. “ApEx iS BesT GaMe evEr!!!! REEEE!” No it’s not...it’s okay...pretty good. So much that people were bashing and complaining about is just stupid if you let yourself enjoy it for what it is, which has the potential to be something pretty special. Sorry mini rant, but I’m enjoying it. I won’t change many peoples minds, but I have a feeling when people FINALLY get into Anthem in a year or so, they’re gonna be like “why am I just now playing this?!”

But that doesn’t mean PVP doesn’t often detract from PVE. Destiny is an example. Imagine if borderlands had suddenly a heavy pvp focus. Character abilities and weapons would suddenly be regulated into boring spectrums. And half the development would be towards that instead of the awesome co-op. I like my pvp games. I just don’t like when a bad pvp game detracts from what could have been a good pve game.

In Destiny's case, for example, I think the "remove PvP crowd" feel as if the story and game play [i]could [/i] be really good, but balancing weapons, among a few other things, feel as if they are altering the PvP experience negatively. So I dont think that the sentiment is that PvP should be removed altogether, more that PvP should not negatively impact the solo or PvE experience.

28 RepliesI'm glad you think that but your wrong in every way possible. The PvE for anthem is great. It's balanced even with a full team of four. An oh loom at that no PvP PvE hybrid gameplay ruining it with an imbalance bleeding effect where if it's nerfed in one it will need in the other holy shit. Yea that's right if you weren't around for Destiny 1 apprently you don't understand that if something was nerfed in PvP it effected the PvE gameplay and the same has been happening in Destiny 2 especially since the weapon system update which ultimately was the final nail in the coffin. So how about you actually play anthem instead of only playing PvP based games or playing competitive all the damn time.
