way worse than Battleborn
Ponies bragged about it, but then forgot to buy it
i realize the articles are referring to PC numbers, but do you really think there's that big a difference
Edit: I never said all the bragging was specifically from these forums people
I think the main reason this game isn't selling is it fails to differentiate itself from the competition. It's a decent game, not great but ok. But it is not nearly unique enough to succeed in a crowded sub-genre already dominated by overwatch
Edit 3: Don't act like this is a tiny tiny indie game that came and went with zero awareness. There wasn't a huge campaign. But I saw ads for it, they were there. I won't say names, but that's a weak defense and a lie

Considering that the game had barely any marketing, barely any hype, and is geared towards hardcore players (which is never a good thing for companies). It was bound to flop terribly.
-
Doesn't look that bad, quite fun actually. i'm just not interested in mp only shooters.
Not even UnrealTournament alpha couldn't re-spark that interest...
Look at that zeroG movement, inplement that into a somewhat interesting PVE experience, then we're talking.
-
From what I've seem and heard it is a hard game with a high skillceiling. So quite the opposite of Overwatch.
-
It shouldn't be, it's not that bad

1 ReplyWhy the smiley face? Do you take pleasure in another's misfortune?

Too many hero shooters in such a small amount of time. Market is saturated.
-
Trailer looked awesome. I though gameplay looked boring/dumb
-
In my opinion it looks better than overwatch, I'm not a fan of overwatch for the art design and characters. I did plan on getting battleborn seeing how it was made by gearbox and I like borderlands 2. But I didn't get it because it had low player base. I'm planning on getting lawbreakers because the trailer was more eye catching then overwatch and seemed more fun (in my opinion overwatch fan boys, take that with a grain of salt)
Ponies bragged about it, but then forgot to buy it
I never saw anybody brag about it, the only thing I've heard anybody say about it was that the beta was fun.
-
There wasn't that much advertising and it's a niche game with a high skill ceiling. Games that have things such as having to learn and practice will never sell aswell as easier simple games.
-
5 RepliesNot really a big surprise. New IP from a brand new Studio. Zero marketing, zero hype. A hardcore game for hardcore gamers with a steep learning curve. The character designs looked like someone ripped off Overwatch but wanted everyone to look more edgy, and in the process they removed any semblance of personality from everyone.

9 RepliesEdited by puppyk1sses: 8/11/2017 11:10:24 PM$30 indie game that had no hype and isn't a best seller, and the Xbox Bro sees an opening to rip on it. Nice man!

I think the main reason this game isn't selling is it fails to differentiate itself from the competition
Wholeheartedly disagree. Can't think of any first person shooter with anti-gravity mechanics. The reason the game is failing to attract a massive audience is because it's a skill based shooter, and of course there are many uneducated people who just rip it as an Overwatch clone, something anybody who has played it knows is false. Literally the only similarity is that they're both hero shooters. The game is pretty good, but the problem is the skill ceiling and floor are both so high, it will only attract the hardcore audience, which isn't big.

6 RepliesNot sure why OP is celebrating the failure of a $30 multi-player only game from a stuido that isn't owned by EA, Activision, or Ubisoft. This also isn't some free-to-play bs. Personally, I want to see this studio and this price point succeed.
-
2 RepliesPeople are talking skill caps and whatnot yet Halo 5 and Rainbow six siege both have high skill ceilings and have managed to succeed.
-
It's an off brand overwatch, give it time, people will pick up on it, it'll be the same community that plays paragon and can't afford to keep up with the newer games
-
Edited by DUURJOB: 8/11/2017 8:24:11 PMI can see why. It can be fun but it's pretty flawed
-
Its a good game. And for 30 bucks its a great buy IMO. I would say the Console version of Lawbreakers is a better value than console Overwatch. But for PC I will stick to OW.
-
I never expected it to do too well, either. A lot of these titles trying to bring back decades-old genres aren't doing too well. Personally, I very much enjoy the genres, but I'm not surprised the industry and consumers are moving forwards, while Playtonic with Yooka-Laylee, and Boss Key with Lawbreakers (pretty sure Strafe fits in here too, as a twitch arena shooter), aren't having the success they hoped for.
-
Never really knew much about it...sucks to watch a game tank tho.

8 RepliesEdited by ABeardedViking: 8/11/2017 5:39:52 AM"Ponies bragged about it, but then forgot to buy it" Ponies haven't been hyping the game. Up to about 2 months ago when they officially announced it was going to be on PS4 it was only a PC game. 2 months isn't really much time to hype up game. also not sure why you want it to flop as Cliff B said that he wants to bring it to Xbox as well LawBreakers is a great game but its not going to be for everyone because it has a High Skill ceiling its all objective based modes no Team Death match. No Radar, No Ads longer TTK Titanfall 2 sales were not that great either but one of the best FPS this generation

Screw Nexon.

Probably because of the hordes of idiots "waiting" for destiny 1.5

2 RepliesHellblade is a great game at least.

12 RepliesThat's what CliffyB gets for abandoning the fanbase that made him so successful.

9 RepliesEdited by D34N0000: 8/11/2017 12:34:02 AMOf course that game will never appeal to the masses, its simply too hard. I can more than hold my own in most pfs games but not lawbreakers. I'm new to pc in fairness but I've won matches in csgo while being massively out numbered so I'm obviously competent. But lawbreakers I got absolutely smashed 😂 uninstalled it after two games. very high skill gap that simply don't have the time to improve enough. So if I struggle your average gamer is going to have a very hard time.
