I do not understand why people digitally buy console games in general.
PSN and Live are no where close to what Steam offers (good customer service and surper discounts) and you have to upgrade your console's HDD for the huge amount of storage they take up.
And if you do not want the game anymore, you are stuck with it. With a physical copy, you can atleast trade it in for a different game.

Edited by Dr Death: 8/3/2017 2:55:13 PMThe convenience of digital significantly outweighs the $5-10 I get back for a game. Plus all the reasons others stated. Edit: I'm not stuck with any game...they all delete off of my hard drive, just sayin

Well others have said, but I'll reiterate: 1) Discs get scratched and broke. 2) Convenience. changing discs means getting up off my chair, and I'm lazy 3) Game sharing. All my friends do it, halves the price. 4) I buy my games from various online Xbox stores from around the world, for example I pre-ordered Destiny 2 from the Xbox Brazil store and saved £20. Discs are soooo last decade man, like ferric tapes, 8-track and Bungie's reputation.

I'm forced to buy digitally since my optic drive has not worked in over a year. Guess the Xbox One wasn't the greatest multi-media option to watch movies on... I could send it in and get it fixed, (but I don't want to have to send it in and wait weeks for it) digital is just convenient for me until I pony up for a new console.
-
Now, the only difference between disc and digital on Xbox is that discs cost extra
-
There's really 2 main reason why I own everything digitally. First, discs suck. It's possible for them to break or get lost. Plus, it's a whole lot more of a hindrance when swapping between games. I want as little barriers between me and my various enemies as possible, and having to swap discs just adds to the amount of barriers. Secondly, game sharing is a beautiful thing. When I finally upgraded to a Xbox One about a year ago, the only game I had for it was the Division, since it came with the console. Thankfully, my best friend was willing to game share with me, and I received over 100 games and dozens or expansions/DLC to games without spending a dime, including games such as Destiny, Black Ops 3, Final Fantasy 15, and Overwatch. In all honesty, no one had ever given me a gift like that before, and it was awesome. So now I buy all my games digitally, such as For Honor, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Titanfall 2, and Destiny 2, and he also gets to play them. It's mutually beneficial, but only because we both only buy games digitally. #TitanMasterRace

Game share..

Or just add a hard drive to your console? I've got a couple that I don't even use
-
Along with all the other positive reasons people have pointed out to you - I own 4 games that Microsoft game me full refunds on - they don't take the copy of the game away from you (once you buy it it's yours) but they will still issue refunds. haven't had to call and have this done in over a year so policies may have changed but that seems like pretty good customer service to me
-
I do because I have two xbox's and I don't want to have to buy 2 discs... Plus who likes to switch out discs in general.
-
Edited by ken31cayman: 8/1/2017 1:23:32 PMSo much more convenient and no chance to lose or scratch the disk. Only buy disk when the digital version isn't sold on U.S. Store, i.e. Angry Birds, Skylanders Imaginators, for example (for my kids).
-
Now a days you have to download all games even if you have the disk and they take up the same space as a digital purchase. Then you can share games with a friend easily. You also no longer need a shelf to hold games
-
I can delete any of my digital games and download again at any time from Xboxlive. Exact same functionality as my PC steam account.... what exactly was your point again?
-
More PC elitism. Steam is probably great but you an't buy Destiny 2 from Steam. It's a Blizzard store exclusive. Meanwhile I pre-ordered Destiny 2 from PSN on my PS4 I bought for $330 back the in July of 2014. Happy spending, PC players.

Tbh pc will be the best place to play destiny 2 Better graphics, 60fps, mouse and keyboard etc. But yea steam is no different than pan store or the Xbox version
-
Steam doesn't work on my xbox
-
I buy digital when it's dirt cheap in a sale like 5$
-
It does have it advantages. With my old 360 sometimes the disc would get scratched or simply lost. Thats not a problem anymore. Also its really nice to switch between games without taking the game out putting it in the cover etc etc to each his own I guess :)
-
No risk of losing the game you bought because the disc got damaged
-
Edited by NobodyJustBrad: 8/1/2017 10:21:54 AMI have over 200 games digitally, and it's much more convenient for me to have them all on my External HD than to have all those discs.

Trade in? The price halves each day past launch
-
I just traded in breath of the wild and got 39 bucks, and that's been out over 4 months now.

Edited by xXFlameOfAnorXx: 8/1/2017 8:52:45 AMThe core reason is likely Xbox Family.... Only having to own the game once, multiple consoles in a home can play. It creates a Destiny couch co-op. When you have a wife that is great at and loves Destiny, this is perfect!!! *didn't read the post below.... What that guy said!!

2 words. Game sharing. This allows me and my gf to game at half the price.
