There's no place in destiny for rng based luck when you're dealing with real money. That's basically gambling. Younger sibling (who is a minor) spent well over $80 trying to get the blue Skull mask only to not receive it.
P.s. it was his money. Nobody is arguing for a refund. However, the question of whether a minor should be allowed to basically gamble their money away is being asked here.
P.p.s. It's a scumbag system period. It preys on individuals who are too naive to know best. It is a matter of ethics and clearly that is at the bottom of the priority list for any big corporation.
P.p.p.s. Ok this is a made up scenario lol. I just love this community <3 . Everyone jumping to insult a minor... you guys are the best.
I'm sure there are people who spent this much attempting to get the mask. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it was a ftp game. However, most of us have spent $100+ for the game in its current state and bungievision still feels the need to implement a filthy cashgrab system like this? How can everyone be ok with this?
1 ReplyAll micro transactions are designed to prey on children spending their parents money. Apple was already sued for this.

Minors are prohibited from buying without parental supervision, making this an already loosing claim. Theres specific instructions that the drop is RNG so theres a point in there defense. So basically the claims made here are worthless. Recommendations: Instruct the minor not to buy and that this is a lesson learned and be an awesome sibling and buy him more boxes to get his hopes up, and you might be extremely adored if he gets it or be extremely hated for it xD
Theres a chance he is just unlucky.
Edited by Daemon Jaeger13: 10/28/2015 5:16:42 PMFirst...it's not gambling, there is no monetary gain for winning anything. Second destiny is hardly the first to do this type of business. Third if he spent that much money his parents either let him or he took the card information...either way it's on the parents for not teaching him the value of a dollar and assuming he wouldn't do something like this. Many have tried to fault a company for doing things like this...and those have failed, what makes you think this case would be any different?
your senario is bad and you should feel bad.
2 RepliesIt's not gambling because there is no dollar reward. By your logic you should be able to sue collector cards for using RNG

Autism's a bitch

TOS = End of thread.... Better parenting skills required...

If that were true cs go would be hit hard regularly by lawsuits

By your logic people could sue the makers of Pokemon cards and kid game apps with in game purchases...

If he's a child I feel sorry for him wasting his money. Perhaps a parent should control what access he has to money. If he's a young adult or a regular adult. It's his own fault and should know better.

Um what about all the IAP in mobile games?
-
Young sibling is an idiot and parents should better control their children

Well you'll lose the lawsuit so have fun in court.
