There's no place in destiny for rng based luck when you're dealing with real money. That's basically gambling. Younger sibling (who is a minor) spent well over $80 trying to get the blue Skull mask only to not receive it.
P.s. it was his money. Nobody is arguing for a refund. However, the question of whether a minor should be allowed to basically gamble their money away is being asked here.
P.p.s. It's a scumbag system period. It preys on individuals who are too naive to know best. It is a matter of ethics and clearly that is at the bottom of the priority list for any big corporation.
P.p.p.s. Ok this is a made up scenario lol. I just love this community <3 . Everyone jumping to insult a minor... you guys are the best.
I'm sure there are people who spent this much attempting to get the mask. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it was a ftp game. However, most of us have spent $100+ for the game in its current state and bungievision still feels the need to implement a filthy cashgrab system like this? How can everyone be ok with this?
So if you go to Walmart to buy a pack of trading cards, hoping for the one you need, and don't get it, can you sue Walmart? No! Stop with this bullshit. You have the right to buy the pack, you're guaranteed a mask, you're getting one. Just because it's not the one you wanted, doesn't mean it's illegal.

Edited by Malfeitor: 10/29/2015 4:05:36 PMNot gambling. If it was, Pokemon cards wouldn't be around.
-
Sure, your "brother" Sounds like someone's butthurt about not getting a mask.

1 ReplyMade up scenario or not responsibility starts with the parents. BTW skull mask is not behind a paywall, people are either not reading the numerous posts or intentionally propagating misinformation.

Parents fault

Are you 7? 8? 2?

6 Replies>Minor >Rated T for Teen Okay.

2 RepliesThis case has been done to death already. It's legal because there's no laws against it
-
Well technically speaking you have to be able to have a checking account in your own name, minors cant have that. So for him it wasn't technically his money. No way your argue will last in court especially aginst a billion dollar company.
-
Why would you say lawsuit though? No way in hell you could sue Destiny for that...
-
keep me posted on this developing situation

10 RepliesThe spoiler is just the truth and the reason why I'm slowly leaving Destiny. Battleborn will be released soon enough.

Hearthstone and magic the gathering must have law suits coming the way to then right?

1 ReplyWhy are you on here pretending that you sibling spent money? It was you and you feel DUMB!
-
Such a troll.
-
1 ReplyYou have to claim to be over 18 to purchase shit on psn I'm pretty sure. It'll let anyone do it, but somewhere in the terms you agree to claim you're not a minor.
-
attention seeking scum
-
6 RepliesLol "lawsuit incoming"?!?! I would love to see a lawyer take this case. Good luck with that. Lol
-
2 RepliesIf you allowed a minor to even possess all of that cash, he/she's supposed to know how to properly spend it. If he/she didn't, why even let them have the money at all?
-
1 ReplyPeople wouldn't be so quick to roast you if you didn't make a totally immature title for this post.
It is a matter of ethics and clearly that is at the bottom of the priority list for any big corporation.
While the original posting was done in jest, this statement is probably the best in describing micro-transactions in general.
