I agree with the premise of ranked playlists but I don't think it's as dire as you make it out to be. As a below average pvp player I can still have fun with their matchmaking and I'm always working on improving. I think it's different for you because you are a competitive person and very skilled at this game. You are probably very difficult to matchmake because of your skill level and geographic proximity to other players of your caliber. Dedicated servers and ranked playlists would solve the issue you're having but for someone like me the existing matchmaking is just fine.

I genuinely do not see why people remain ignorant to this idea. It is a fact that if there was not competitive in many games that those games would not have even come close to how big they are now. League of Legends, Counter Strike, Dota: prime examples of this topic. Although the communities of these games are very toxic, some of which more toxic than Call of Duty, the competitive aspect implemented in those games increased growth exponentially. Look at Call of Duty for instance. Black ops 2 introduced League Play which allowed players to play in competitive style matches formed and modeled around the call of duty esports rules and community. Although that playlist was in the game and a big reason why many enjoyed black ops 2, the normal pubs scene was still much more massive. Skip to the next year with ghosts. Ghosts is hated by most for its drab look, feel (i personally liked the feel of ghosts, just the maps were too big and many of the weapons were underwhelming to say the least), and lack of a proper competitive playlist. this made many stick to an older generation game: Black ops 2. Now with the current, Call of Duty: Advanced warfare, there is a competitive playlist, but the reason why Sledgehammer was not successful with it is because they allowed variant weapons into that playlist. This gave people unfair advantages, making the competitive playlist of AW just another pubs playlist with poor ranking and banned perks/ score streaks. This brings me to the next topic on this post. People are telling Mtashed to play Trials of Osiris when it comes back. Yes, Trials is the dedicated "competitive" playlist for Destiny, along with iron banner, but it is not set on a level playing field. In trials, the gear you have dictates your performance more than that of your individual gun skill. Remember year one thorn and how if anyone had it in his or her hand they were instantly a god? A competitive playlist in destiny would need to introduce not only weapon balancing and possibly new weapons entirely made specifically for this competitive playlist, but also skilled based matchmaking would be a NECESSITY because nobody likes to be completely wiped by another team because they are complete gods compared to your team. Also, LAN events would benefit Destiny a ton too, like Mtashed had said. Not only is it already possible, because there are LAN events, not for competitive play however, for whenever people play the game live at a gaming event like e3 or games com, but it would and should be easy for activision and bungie to pull this off with activation being the biggest console multiplayer production company there is and bungie was able to do it with Halo when competitive esports was not anywhere close to where it is today. If LAN's are for some reason out of the question, then at least have the ability to create private multiplayer matches for the crucible for goodness sake. That should be something so incredibly easy for Bungie and Activision to pull off. The only reason why i can think that they have not added that ability is because they are plain lazy. I am not bashing on destiny pvp multiplayer at all, the game and playlist are great. It is just that when you are consistently decimating your opponent or vice versa, there needs to be a better way of getting better matches. I personally hope that they would do a competitive playlist for Destiny because it will make Call of Duty push and try harder with its new Arena mode being introduced in black ops 3 (CoD is my love in fps, nothing can change that). And besides, if you don't like the competitive playlist if it's introduced, don't play it. You aren't being forced to even play multiplayer anyways.

Why are people constantly making 5, 10 minute videos on this? THIS GAME IS NOT COMPETITIVE. If you want to play a balanced shooter play something else. End of story.

Destiny isn't all about competitive goals or ranks, it mostly about gear, gameplay, and rpg elements. Crucible also is mostly about all that stuff, people want to do Osiris for a reason. Gear.

Agreed. It boggles the mind why the PvP side of this game does not have proper in-game leaderboards or ranking/stat tracking. The crucible is a brilliantly original take on MP and could easily become properly competitive. Maybe come Destiny 2 things will change.
