For the billionth time, Thorn and The Last Word are ridiculously overpowered. Nerf them.
Do. It. Now.
It should not take this long too implement, especially given the amount of overwhelming wave of hate that has been directed at these weapons for months now.
I understand that you're busy Bungie, but rebalancing your PvP is of paramount importance to the future of Destiny.

Edit #1:
Seeing as a lot of users here are arguing that Thorn and The Last Word are not OP, but instead that I'm merely bad, please feel free to check out my KD. According to Destiny Tracker, and at the the time of this edit, I am ranked #1086 for KD in the world.
Sorry for elitist-sounding comment, but you can still be good at this game and see how blatantly overpowered Thorn and The Last Word are.
Edit #2:
Yes, I am using The Last Word on my Hunter. But no, that does not make the argument I am making in this thread invalid. Why would I limit my performances in PvP by not using the best weapons available? Out of pride? -blam!- that, I want to win - just like most of you.
Edit #3:
Dismantling the popular and rather foolish argument that there will always be an OP gun in Destiny (or even that one should always exist), by user Geoff Edwards.
"Bullshit.
The game is maths. Numbers can be balanced. TTKs, required engagement times are all measurable.
Select an optimal engagment range.
Make damage fall-off more pronounced so that it has a more important effect.
Make ranged weapons like scouts even harder to use in close combat.
Make sure RoF and Impact result in standardised TTKs across weapon classes and types .
Make weapons selection interesting. Thorns burn is interetsing - it delays recovery. Red Deaths healing is interesting. TLW's hip fire is interesting. Make these tactical choices - not the only choices.
As bungie says - there should never be one solution. All loadouts should be viable."
3 RepliesEdited by a clumsy scrub: 7/14/2015 5:48:40 PMAgreed. Heres some solid reasoning too: Dps ranges Auto rifles: 597-700 Pulse rifles: 693-761 Scout rifles: 795-821 Hand cannons: 1010-1440 (Excludes hawkmoon, which should be about 1010. Done by multiplying headshot damage with bullets shot per second. All tested thoroughly against level 2s in patrol. Perks arent used to determine DPS, these are raw firepower stats.) As we can see, hand cannons are literally unbeatable if used by a skilled player. There is no argument I haven't fought to this day (ive made this kind of post many times before), so try me. Hand cannons (yes, all) should be nerfed, and auto rifles should be buffed. This would result in all weapons being viable in crucible.

Dude! Its -blam!-ing done! Im so happy :)
-
We've done it! Just need to wait a few months.

1 ReplyAll see now when I read these post is. I get killed by this gun please nerf.
-
2 RepliesYep, Crucible is starting to get pretty boring with everyone using the same small set of weapons. It's driving a lot of players away from the game since for many players crucible is what is keeping them playing. You'd have to be blind, stupid, or rely on these guns for your "skill" to not see that they are blatantly OP.
-
they should be nerfed but not to the point the Suros was. they should just decrease range and on thorn make the d.o.t lower. or they can make the damage drop off closer and sharper
-
5 RepliesNERF YOUR MOUTH. I'M SICK OF LITTLE KIDS LIKE YOU CRYING "NERF THORN AND TLW, WAAAAAA". SERIOUSLY, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP BITCHING ABOUT IT. YOUR CRYING IS WELCOME NOWHERE

1 ReplySooner the better, until then I will abuse them just like everyone else though
-
1 ReplyDon't.do.it. There, now we both have differing opnions
-
1 ReplyEver think that maybe the developers and test teams don't agree with you? Maybe that's the reason they haven't yet! Just sayin....
-
1 Replywill never be balanced. destiny is missing some pretty important things to properly balance a game like this. a true weapon handling number. short range weapons should be faster, easier to track short range targets. long range weapons should be slower, easier to track long range targets. aiming down the sights of a scout rifle it should move slower then that of say as a handcannon. pvp needs to be separated from PVE. you can not make weapons for PVE then expect them to be balanced in PVP. there is alot more then TTK to PVE, but that is all that matters in PVP. in PVE ammo capacity and reload speed matter more then they do in pvp. if every gun had the same TTK the ones that kept you shooting longer or reloaded faster would be king. there will always be the gun thats seen as the best gun, the only way to ever truly balance PVP is to have 1 class with the same ability and the same weapon loadout. as long as there are choices where weapons are truly balanced and not just equalized thru TTK then there will be a best weapon for pvp.

Just. Eat. Them. Damn. Pies.

1 ReplyHawkmoon would be unchallenged then.
good
9 RepliesHere's a tissue for your issue.
Man, I'm gonna run out of tissues if this forum keeps going to the way it's going.
2 RepliesHow about not nerf buff the AR back to where it was along with vex and then weapons will be usable. The original thorn buff was because it sucked after buff things were ok then we nerfed autos because of suros remember that? Nerf those two more will take their place hail hydra
-
2 RepliesStop complaining and if their so op USE THEM DUMB ASS
-
7 RepliesTLW is fine. Thorn is OP.
-
15 RepliesThorn is supposed to be overpowered. Read the grimoire about it.
-
2 RepliesI would be happy if they just buff auto rifles a little bit to even the playing field across all weapon types... Don't nerf anything else!!
-
2 RepliesLike when is the hard light nerf coming. It's destroying the crucible rn. #2good4me
-
10 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 7/16/2015 3:05:36 PMNo. Don't. Ever. Seriously. The exotic hand cannons dominate now, because Bungie BROKE auto rifles responding to the LAST round of cries for annoying weapons to be nerfed. Nerf them, now....and you'll be back here in two months demanding that Red Death and other high-impact pulse rifles be nerfed.....and shotguns be banned entirely. What needs to happen is that Bungie needs to buff the damage of ARs back to their pre-patch 1.1.1 levels, and design bigger maps with more varied terrain.
-
3 RepliesThe thorn bounty is so hard for a reason and should be a great gun or no one would even bother with it, I don't always use it in pvp and when I get killed by it I'm not mad at what someone killed me with.
-
3 Repliesdoes it matter? can easily kill with other stuff too all this nerf this and that makes the game even worse
-
4 RepliesNo more nerfs, if anything de-nerf a few things!!! Maps are the problem. There is no such thing as a big map in Destiny. Name a map where one of the weapons generating calls for nerf + a shotty is a BAD load out, might not be ideal but not bad. Now try that same load out on a truly big map like Valhalla(use imagination)
