1 ReplyI feel like he shouldn't get his gear or characters back. Bungie reserve the right to take no responsibility from your actions over Shareplay. He should have realised this risk as he was going it. He didn't at the time, but he has learnt now. However, Kermit should be banned I feel. As, unlike many people have been saying, he did violate the TOS.
You are also prohibited from engaging in any of the following: a. Deceptive or misleading practices;
He lied to the kid offering help to cheat, gained access then went back on his word.

If you inspect him now, you see he's been run though CE hard, and isn't doing too bad. I don't think he needs any help, and has learned a hard but valuable lesson...the other guy however, needs a damn good thrashing (fawlty towers reference)

28 RepliesKermit doing this was a dick move and a terrible thing to do. However, I think the community is overreacting here. The kid WAS trying to cheat, WAS streaming on the internet and playing a T rated game at the age of 11, and DID give his controller to Kermit of his own free will. The following deletions were not violating the ToS, because Kermit did actions permitted in game on an account he was formally allowed to use. Kermit is not bannable, he didn't break ANY rules. Also, bungie can't give the kid his exotics back. They say on their Share Play page that it is dangerous to share the controller, and it can result in "dire consequences" that they cannot reverse. This is sad but hopefully the kid learned his lesson about trusting strangers and cheating, which is honestly worth the lost exotics. Thankfully it didn't happen with his SSN later in life. So, just move on and don't freak out about this. Those helping him get his stuff back, great and all, but keep in mind the train of bad choices leading to this situation. Kids have to learn lessons the hard way, and this is just a game. Some people have real problems. I posted this elsewhere but I feel that people need to calm down and use their heads before having a gut reaction.

1 ReplyBungie knows it's in there update learn how to read

1. This is Sony's problem, not Bungie's. Share Play is a Playstation feature and this could have happened with any game that allows multiple character saves. 2. The kid took the risk trusting his account with a stranger so they have no grounds to complain about someone messing with their account. They asked for it, they paid the price.

Stop trying to feel better about yourself for thinking about this. No rules were broken and common sense was absent

I'm just going to hide this post.
