I see that a lotta people only play PVE. I just don't understand how you can willingly ignore such a huge part of the game. I'm curious as to why.
Edit: I'm really not hating. I'm just looking for different points of view. To each his own.
Game on!
Edit: Come on guys lets not start a civil war here. Weather it's PVP or PVE we are all playing the same game here.
Btw: holy crap approaching 500 responses. Haha

Edited by Dan J Huls: 2/7/2015 7:08:33 PMPvP in general is for competition, PvE can be relaxing or exciting with cooperative elements, I've played out PvP in other games and lost interest in the entire premise. The coalescing attempt of balancing weapons, abilities and ranges to seem fair, competitive, and functionally it is inherently flawed with compromises detract from actual strategy for most, though when practiced can be accomplished. The most impressive thing I recall seeing was in an MGO tournament where a team of 6 set a brilliant feint as a distraction, sent 1 to capture and return, then the other 5 barricaded the pursuit route, sounds simple, but their utilization of terrain and timing were well practiced, and it was in a snowstorm setting. Just doesn't interest me anymore, no hate, have fun.

Why would they have raids and nighfall and weekly heroic strikes if PvP was a bigger part of the game?

1 ReplyBecause I suck in PvP

I would say I am really good at pvp. Got into it from Halo 2 when I was young then Halo 3 during high school then CoD with k/d's of 2.7 and what not. I am VERY competitive when it comes to matchmaking but I just wasn't drawn into the idea of PVP in the crucible. It's so unbalanced. I could put up with CoD barely but this isn't really a game for pvp. It's just something they threw in here to appease those who like pvp. Yes I do play pvp sometimes but rarely.

3 RepliesIMO. Some people are unwilling to push and challenge themselves. They get obliterated in a few games and then give up, and then post on the forum saying the Crucible is trash and unbalanced. In reality they have not developed the skill set required to react, strategize and play in a different way than PVE mode... If only they would push themselves, ignore the posts about K/D, I guarantee you that they would enjoy the game 10x over. FYI. That was me until I was determined to push myself. Now I love PVP just as much as story mode.

Pvp isn't a huge part. Kinda just a bonus mode. Basically I wouldn't buy destiny for pvp. If you want a game that only focuses on pvp balance then literally buy any game aside from destiny. Cod, battlefield, halo, titanfall, evolve, etc
-
It offers me nothing for the time invested. I played IB til I got the guns I wanted and the shader though.
-
It all runs down to people not liking pvp my mate hates it he only plays pve in any game. I enjoy both pve is more relaxed where as pvp is a true test of skills
-
2 RepliesI feel like there is nothing to work towards in pvp.
-
I find PVP pretty dull to be honest.....I just don't see it as a huge part of the game (it only has 6 playlists, 2 of which are DLC). I find PVE much more fun and relaxed..... try-hards etc on PVP are just annoying.
-
I like pvp in titanfall as you have a fair amount of health, and even if you get in a scrape - with a bit of luck and skill, you can survive Pvp in destiny, one shot kills. Revive Spawn and bang your dead. Spawn Rinse repeat I get this isn't the case for people who can play Just seems to be run and gun and I find it boring and a bit repetitive I know it's similar to pve re: repetitive I'm not hating pvp and wish I could get into it more, you're right I'm missing alot of the game But spawn die repeat is a bit of a killer for me...sorry

I just find PvP incredibly boring for the most part. It's just not my thing. I'm not bad at it. In fact, I'm usually in the top three on the team. I just find it mind numbing most of the time. People say it's more challenging because you're going against other real people with ever evolving tactics, but I don't see that as the case. Everyone runs to the same spots, and uses the same weapons and tactics over and over again ... It's just all on a much smaller scale than PvE. If they came up with a massive PvP, I might be able to get into that. It doesn't help that the rewards are so pathetic 99.9% of the time. The crucible marks rewards are particularly bad.
-
I played a bit yesterday on my hunter. For me it's fun in small doses. Two maybe three matches at a time. And I play clash. Clash has been the most fun for me in crucible. I think it comes down to what gives the player the most fun in Destiny, that's what they're going to do.
-
Because I'm not a fan of pvp
-
Mainly because there's less bullshit moments in PvE and I find it more engaging to hang with friends in a cooperative fashion. I will play crucible from time to time and I perform above average. Just prefer more coop style gameplay.
-
PvP is fun, but PvE gives better rewards. I guess it just depends if you're more of a short term or long term payoff kind of guy.
-
The resano I bought destiny was to play PvE, not their PvP. I do thing it's fun and I play it once in a great while but honestly I think it's a waste of time.
-
It doesn't feel like a very large portion to me. I typically don't end up enjoying PVP in any game (Titanfall is an weird exception along with Halo). While Destiny isn't bad, I would just so much rather kill aliens. I sneak into the crucible every now and then.

58 RepliesEdited by BluRam1: 2/7/2015 3:39:53 PMPeople play only PVE because they get demolished in the crucible. It takes time to adapt to your ever changing opponents, ones that don't think like the predictable AI that they can easily beat. Crucible is very competitive, far more than anything in PVE. Naturally, people don't like to lose, especially when they know it's at the hands of a real person on the opposite end. Online pvp multilayer is what brought Bungie to the dance. Edit: PVE is fun no doubt, but it's for the girls.
-
I'm more of a story mode player. I've always hated playing online. Team deathmatch and all that bullshit gets so old so quick. Atleast destiny gives you bounties and opportunities to get gear from crucible but it's just not for me. Please, noone respond and say "that's cuz you suck at it" I already know that and do not really care lol
-
I never like pvp. It was only fun if you had people over so you could switch games between friends. But other than that it's pve is awesome. The raids and strikes make it amazing. I'm one of those people who can do absolutely horrible in pvp or be leader of the team hahah there's no in between with me. But I just think teaming up against the computer is more fun. And if I want to play a fun pvp I'll bust out my Titanfall!
-
When this game was advertised, pvp was barely mentioned and shouldn't be half of the game, there should be about 3 times as much pve content...that being said, I used to pvp but the lag and frustration that comes along with it pushed me away. Pve is just more fun imo
-
I never played PvP until I got Destiny. It was just too hollow for my taste. But I found out that it's pretty fun. I don't play it too much, but it's a nice break from the grinding in PvE. I would urge people who don't play crucible to give it a try, keep doing it and gradually you'll get better and hopefully get as much enjoyment out of it as I have.
-
My personal opinion pve is better and i dont think pvp is a huge part of the game, i think pve is. Also this is my opinion im not saying anything against people who love pvp. I play pvp but its more annoying than fun, pve is to me is funner and easier, but like i said its my opinion. If u hate pve and love pvp good for you idc lol.

1 ReplyDont like cod fags running with shotguns

Pvp is boring to me. I only play to get marks and bounties done. I like raiding with my buddies. Always a good time and still challenging. Seems like when I play pvp, it doesn't matter how I play or what weapons I use, people always get mad. I'm not into that.
