Hello I am 14 year old pretty hardcore destiny player I like to think I know quite a lot about the raids and nightfalls BUT! as soon as I join the party and they hear me (I am not a squeaker but you can tell I'm a kid) they automatically assume I am bad. Seriously I'm not bragging but I'm probably more experienced then them. What do you guys think ( adults or kids )

1 Replyim 13 but i sound 17...

2 RepliesI think you should stick to shopping at baby gap little guy. Destiny could hurt your fragile little mind.

Edited by Hippo_Legacy: 1/18/2015 4:58:17 PMI don't play with kids and it has nothing to do with skill or experience, it has to do with im an adult and I don't want to play with children.

11 RepliesMy sister is 12 and she had so much fun playing on my characters she saved up up and bought a ps4 for herself. I am very careful who she mics with (mostly me and my friends or her clan who are all really really nice people) because most people are not very friendly when it comes to kids playing, especially girls because her voice is extra high-pitched. She plays great, though. I helped a group of noobies through the vault of glass and she preformed way better than any of them did.

I think kids like you are the gaming elite. You have more time than us adults to devote to the game. That said, the only times I have left a group it was because of the things that were being said or inconsiderate behavior...if the person making those comments or acting that way was young as well, so be it. How did they know you were so young if you aren't a "squeaker"? Did you say or do something immature? I'm not saying that you are at fault, just food for thought.

6 RepliesI'll admit readily that I do try to avoid playing with younger teens like yourself, but I don't feel like it's out of disrespect or anything like that. First off, Destiny is better with friends, and I feel for the most part the best friends to play with are about your age, no matter how old you are. If I'm going to talk a little shit in the crucible and take a break to take a shot every once in a while, it's really kinda awkward when there's someone in the party around the age of my youngest brother. Likewise, if you're in your 30's and have kids/wife/job/whatever other responsibilities, people in a similar situation are more likely to have similar interests and challenges with getting a few hours of gaming in, and they might relate a little better. At 24, if I spend my time hanging out with 12-14 year-olds, family excepted, something's wrong. Second, people of different ages tend to have different mentalities surrounding teamwork and the like. I prefer a group of people (especially when raiding) who focus on callouts - oracle bottom right, 5 seconds on revive/time's vengeance, running to next torch now, etc - in battle, with off-topic chatting reserved for quiet sections. Younger players seem to have a bit more of an issue with talking shit or having the one twue way to beat/cheese the task at hand. Please don't take offense to that, it truly is just my own experience/opinion (otherwise known as a stereotype), but I still feel like it's true more often than not. Even if you know a better way to do something, I feel like older players are more likely to make a suggestion, and if it's ignored or doesn't work, just go with the flow and do something else. Third, whether you are skilled or not, if I run into players who I can tell are young my own experience with having 3 younger brothers between 12 and 15 says that your ability to multi-task and keep your split-second reasoning and reaction times up is not as good as it will be in five or ten years. No matter how skilled you are as an individual, the stereotype that tweens are not as good at shooters is there for a reason. Tweens, on average, are probably more likely to make minor mistakes that can contribute to a wipe. It's not your fault, it's not because I'm some kind of superior human (I have a special gift for finding the very edge of the relic bubble with my Dragon's Breath myself), it's just how the world works. Lastly, there's the little-known issue of parental controls. If the rest of the party has to cater to one member's need to have everyone else on their friends list and set up party chat in just a certain way in order to communicate, I'm going to save the hassle if I'm fireteam leader, and kick you and send out a few more invites. It's nothing personal, but having to jump through hoops in order to communicate leaves a sour taste in my mouth from the get-go. I know it's not your fault, and it's shitty to do that to someone because their parents are protective, but the fact is, it's a hassle that I don't have to go through with sites out there like destinylfg. If I end up in a party with someone who's younger I'll certainly give them a chance (as long as communication is not stunted), and sometimes there's no issues. I actually joined a group off a random invite last week for the VoG hard mode, and judging by the voices of my fireteam members, the average age in the group was probably 14 other than myself, and I stayed in the whole way and had a pretty good time (especially given my Atheon's Epilogue drop at the end). Unfortunately, that was the most painful three and a half hour run (I joined at the confluxes before the templar) that I've ever been a part of. I made a few stupid mistakes of my own, and I'm not saying the age of my fellow guardians was the only source of trouble, but given a choice between feeling like I'm carrying a group of tweens through the raid, and having a group of people I can joke about how awful PBR is and how great it is to live in Colorado, it's an obvious choice. No disrespect intended, and I'll usually give you a chance, but I absolutely understand the people who are a little less understanding and autoboot 'squeakers'. It sucks, and if they're assholes about it, they suck too, but it's the way things are.

There are some young kats that actually can carry their own weight. But there are some that are just plain... Ignorant. I'm sure you're good though. You seem good.

Joined a team of what sounded like 12-14 year olds last night. Smooth raid, no bitching if we died etc. They enjoyed playing the video game. Was a nice change, other then feeling like the old man haha

1 ReplyEvery time I read these posts I envision an old Jaba sitting in his mom's basement trolling harder than if he were sitting under a bridge. Especially when the same one pops up constantly.. But who knows
-
7 RepliesAlso i'm 14, but no one ever assumes i'm bad at any game(except COD)
-
It doesn't matter your age it's how you act. People can tell really quickly whether you're mature or not.

I'm 13 and to be honest I am better than the majority of players I play with but my fireteams are awesome and don't treat me like a little bitch :D
-
Really dont give a shit if you skilled and dont blabber over the comms anyones welcome
-
Whoa there Mr. Hardcore.
-
Same thing happened to me until I whooped all there asses in COD
-
Kids can play... my 10 year old just finished crota on my raid team last night. The important thing is for the kids to shut up and not be obnoxious.
-
I don't like playing with ''some'' older guys because if they failed , they going to rage and leave the game... For kids , I mean , if they know what to do , it okay.
-
If youre good, then play on! Though I understand why you ask this - Ive noticed a few angry snobby players lately
-
5 RepliesIf I have the chance at getting distracted by your child voice no point in playing with you. Because I will laugh the whole time and not do any work
-
What really matters is how mature you are. But hey....... That's just a theory...... A GAME THEORY!!!!!!

Edited by tuster56: 1/18/2015 2:25:44 PMI'm 13 and play on ps4. Psn is tuster56. I have 3 character, 2 Titans, ones 30 and the other is 31(11 shards away from 32) And I have a hunter that is level 29 but almost level 30. I've never had trouble getting a raid team, however a lot of people the people I play with are from my clan but even When I play with randoms they don't mind me.

met a boy yesterday, typical sqeaker, BUT he is a GOD with the sword in Crota.. Downs Cota in almost ONE Sword.. 5 hits per sword, level 32.. not bad! awesum guy
-
I don't typically like squeakers, but it's nothing against them. I'm over 30, and I used to be in the Army. I don't swear much in daily life, but when I'm gaming, I go back to that old mindset, where the F-bomb, C-bomb, and all the rest of the bombs get dropped on the regular. I wouldn't want someone doing that around my son, so I don't do it around anyone else's. Not to mention, game chat with a bunch of adults can have questionable subject matter, depending on how many beers are down the hatch.

3 RepliesGo play Call of 'Doodie' and make your parents proud with your colorful use of curse words.
