Hello I am 14 year old pretty hardcore destiny player I like to think I know quite a lot about the raids and nightfalls BUT! as soon as I join the party and they hear me (I am not a squeaker but you can tell I'm a kid) they automatically assume I am bad. Seriously I'm not bragging but I'm probably more experienced then them. What do you guys think ( adults or kids )

41 RepliesEdited by i3thDisciple: 1/15/2015 7:45:13 PMMy son has the same issue. Don't worry about it, they would have been jerks anyway, keep looking. My son had cancer and lost his left leg to it at the age of 12, he is 14 now and has been through more than 90% of the players out there and faced it with a bravery not even the top .5% elite density players could even imagine having. To you young man, I say don't let the shit stick to your boots as you claw your way to the top. Be proud of your voice, it is YOUR voice... don't jabber, be informative, if you know how to do something, before it starts speak up... NEVER EVER let the words of a stranger insult you to the point of not using that voice. Sorry for the responsible answer, but my son has been been through Hell and back and I promise you, he will regret nothing in life when his time on this earth is done, be it 80 years or 18... Live life like your dying young man! You'll enjoy it much more! #AmputeesKickAss btw

I'd have been a so much more hardcore player at 14. I had hours and hours to play and master games. Pretty much 6 hours a night of solid gaming. At 37 I don't have the time or really care that much any more. And if I sit down for 6 hours straight my legs hurt for a week XD

1 Reply4.93 raid kd for a hardcore Destiny player... Look out we got a badass over here
-
2 Repliesyour raid kd is under 5 id leave based on that alone
-
6 RepliesLOL I'm barely 15 and people think of me (based of my voice) that I'm like 25 hahah, so glad I never had that problem, way to take a stand though, if they can pull their own weight in a raid, I don't care their age, so long as my ears remain unbleeding.

11 Replies44yo here. I try not judge people on thier age, but thier maturity. I've played with plenty of kids that are more mature than some adults. And I have played with some adults who metally and emotionally never got beyond puberty. My maturity "Pro Tips": Don't try to act "hard" by using excessive profanity or bashing on women, gays, minorities, etc. Sure there are plenty of adults who do this, but you know what? Those adults are losers in life who are not worth knowing or emulating. You know what successful, well-adjusted adults do? They have self-respect for themselves and have respect for each other, even those who are "different". You will not go very far in life if you cannot deal with people who are different than you in a civil manner. Don't inundate people with "hipster talk" (i.e. YOLO, SWAG, HASHTAG_____, etc...) or "Ebonics" (i.e. -blam!-, bitch, etc...). Most adults have gotten past this by understanding that the best way to "fit in" is by being yourself, not by being a caricature of "popular culture". Very little is as sad and pathetic as a teenager trying to sound like a gangster rapper. Destiny is a social game, but it's not Facebook or Twitter either. You don't need to constantly blather on about your favorite song which is blaring through your headset, your "many" girlfriends, or how bad-ass you are. Just stop.

2 RepliesWhen I was 12 I was a top 2% division master in blops 2. One of the greatest things about that game for me was that the other team be raging "SQUEAKER!! EASY WIN!! LEAVE NOW KID". And me absolutely demolishing them with my squeaker friends. The sadness in their voices after the game was pure gold. Anybody can be a competetive gamer, let your gameplay prove them wrong.

5 RepliesIt's rated T for Teen. Not PT for Pre Teen. GTFO spoiled brat
-
Im 12 and have a 32 warlock 31 titan and 27 hunter people always think im bad cause of my age
-
2 RepliesMost noobs/squeakers are below the age of 13. Sadly, more mature 14-year olds often get squeezed into their category by mistake.
-
Edited by Deemo: 1/20/2015 9:25:22 AMI'm 14 but I have a very deep voice(puberty hit early) I'm usually mistaken for a 16-20 year old but I know a decent amount about destiny and specific standards
-
It comes from the assumption that kids are very easily distracted unable to focus on specific tasks to the same degree as an adult, there is some logic behind this as kids are more susceptible to things than adults are
-
4 RepliesI was 13 when when I went through a lot of Call of Booty and Halo as a highly skilled player. I'm 15 now and I am awesome at Destiny and people keep mistaking me as a 17-19 year old due to my deep voice, even when I was thirteen people thought I was 16. It's good to be me. :)

As a 16 year old who plays with any and every age group, just do what you need to and don't be annoying, I've played with the same people for years, since I was 12(laugh it up assholes who rip on kids) but a lot of us are here to enjoy the game, so let us, you make it harder on yourselves by bashing us
-
2 RepliesDid the Vault of Glass reset? I am just asking cuz I did it last week, and I don't want to get screwed again

4 RepliesAs an adult, I try to avoid playing with younger kids. The squeaky voice dosent bother me, neither does the random things kids/teenagers say/ask. My group and I avoid kids because of our dialogue/language. I curse a lot, my friends curse even more. There's a few young ones that join my fireteam and we run them through the raids/weekly/nightfall/ect. They ask for us to not curse, so we do...or so we try. A word or 2 may slip out every so often. But we apologize. We can't help it all the time. If you don't want older people to tease or yell at you. Keep your conversations short and simple, easy questions and answers. Don't brag and be honest. Ran a 10 year old through Crota's End the other day, randomly joined our fireteam. No idea who's friend he was. He asked, hey can I raid? I asked do you have a rocket a launcher with tracking or a good sniper rifle? He said icebreaker of coarse. I then asked, any experience in the raid? He said, Never done it before. Alright, just communicate with us and let's get this done! Beat it no problem and he gets ship, shader, emblem and The hunger of Crota. Kid flips out on mic like the N64 kid! Lol hilarious and awesome to hear. Not all of us are big meanie heads you know.

1 ReplySince I'm 15, I jut play with a bunch of my school friends
-
The age is not the problem as long as you play the game without Screaming, whining and be a little mature you earn anybody's respect
-
Most of the people i come across dont kick me except for the occasional few people
-
Who cares what age you are, don't be an idiot and most people won't care.
-
2 RepliesThis is a casual rated T for teen game, it is in no way a "hardcore" game. If anyone actually has a problem with kids playing this game they are idiots.
-
I will always know more about this game than you do. #becausecollegeleveleducation
-
Agreed, I know how you feel.
-
As long as someone doesn't act a fool I'll play with them. Be mature and I won't kick you.
-
Being 15, I rarely talk during raids unless it's for the raid itself.
-
I find that most of the younger players I've encountered in most of the games I've played over the years are typically pretty good. The main reason I tend to avoid them is that most will also just talk constantly about absolutely nothing relevant, which I find insanely annoying. Furthermore, those particular types of children are not the type to listen to others when they respectfully ask them to do/stop doing something.
