I haven't really noticed the difference with Iron Banner, other than I went in with a more competitive mindset. I've only played 4 games but haven't lost yet, get 1.2 k/d at least each time. Still using the strangers rifle, a rare pulse rifle. But yeah no different from crucible from what I've seen, just people thinking it is, so play slightly differently in my opinion.
