What's the point of being 550?

Ok soooo I been 550 since it came out. Now I do this new dungeon and I get teir 3-4. Maybe a teir 5 lol. What a joke this is... i shouldn't have to put freats on in order teir 5. -50 power lv. Like Bungie didnt you learn that NOBODY WILL PLAY BUT YOUR DIE HARD PLAYERS. And by the looks of it. There's not very many ppl playing. Its like doing contest mode. Why would I ever play that crap. Ya I tried contest mode it was like ripping my hair out. Give me my teir 5s for hitting 550 and ill be ok with the game.

  • There isn't one. Max level was always just a number to chase. Some got there, some didn't. When people complained about not being able to reach it before the new expansion, worrying about not getting tier 5 gear and/or only getting that level gear for a short time, bungie decided to let everyone get there by not increasing the level. Since the majority should get there quickly, now people are complaining about 'having nothing to do' and 'loot drops feel meaningless'. Bungie is dammed if they do, dammed if they don't with the community.

      There was never a reason other than a "flex".. Bungie themselves said only the most dedicated would reach 550... but the 2 hour a week casual is complaining about not being able to reach 550. So Bungie let everyone be 550... and now everyone complains they are 550... cuz now they are forced into harder content. They should have definitely kept the "equipped gear" mechanic they had, but it is* what it is... ppl cry and moan to get what they want.. then cry and moan they got it.

      • When I was a kid, elders use to tell me that playing video games was a waste of time. I never agreed with them, until now, when I hit 550 😂

      • I’m a “casual”. I just hit 500 for my Warlock (main) and my Hunter. The power “grind” is just a mechanic to keep you engaged and moderately excited about new loot. I guess once you hit 550 the same gun you already have with all 50 rolls possible becomes less exciting always dropping at your power level. I think Bungie has forgotten that the best thing they have done (IMO) in recent years was when they just said “**** it” here’s all these dungeons with explore mode and match made and here’s all this gear you lone players never got. Everyone was pretty much max light level at that point cos the season had gone on forever (all three of mine were) and I could play with whatever character I wanted and try loads of different builds and weapons with lots to do. It was the most fun I’d had in PVE for years. I’d been almost exclusively a PvP player before that. For me the single biggest thing Bungie could do would be to give the option to match make or not (I’d like to do a Nightfall on my own without upping the difficulty beyond my skill set for example). And yes, some will say use fireteam finder. And a lot of lone players will say no thanks, why can’t you just make stuff match made at higher level (Or not match made at lower level)?

      • There isn't one. Like most of the game now. It's just about making things as difficult as they can do their beloved streamers still like them. Kepler is power capped to 200. But enemies are 240. I have tonnes of stuff to do there but it feels like a bullet sponge enemy filled chore. No thanks. Why on earth are they putting a -40 power delta on an old location ?? Destiny is done. Numbers are back to pre Renegades launch. Are you going to be buying another year of utter trash like this when so many other good games are out there ??, paying yet again for activities we paid for once already so they can be recycled back to us with ridiculous power deltas, speeded up enemies and Champions ?? Bungie clearly have no direction or creativity left. The portal is just a collection of old activities made difficult. They made power grind the game, then made it useless. They are still selling a 30th Anniversary Pack with Dares of Eternity, an activity that is utterly pointless. They introduced the Portaloo and are now too stubborn to admit they were wrong. The story is non existent. It's all about what's happening here and now in this one place. Where's Mara, Caitl and Savathin ?? I watched the video of the old Bungie versus the new Bungie. Explains a lot. The new Devs come across as idiots. It's not just power that is pointless. The whole game is right now.

          Ultimate Conquests Edit: The dungeon is a joke for weapon tiers. We've b3en doing 5 feats, cutthroat etc and I havent gotten a single tier 5. And cutthroat full clear takes like hours. Absolute BS system.

          • I don’t think it’s that hard but it doesn’t matter. I think the idea is to let players have a carrot on the stick so that we want to play as they gave tier 5 out last season like it was candy and it felt cheap. Honestly there is very little difference between tier 4 and tier 5 (expect shiny versions with the extra origin perk) as it just had more chances of dropping the combo’s players are looking for. I don’t think 550 alone should be the reason players get the best rewards in the game as that just sends an even worse message. Personally I feel we have massively power crept the game and the deltas we have now is to just stop us stomping the game.

          • Realistically, there isn't that much difference between tier four and tier five. Plus the red ornament for tier five is really ugly this season.

          • Exactly what I keep saying. The level system is already pointless by default when every activity caps you below the enemy even when you're supposed to be hundreds above them, and now it's completely invalidated again in raids and dungeons due to needing to activate feats to increase your reward tiers. But to unlock those feats, you need to complete these activities (the dungeon at least, I haven't even attempted the raid BECAUSE of the tier drop bs), you have to complete the dungeon with all available feat slots filled every time. So not only do you have to complete the dungeon like 5 times, but each time has to be more difficult than the last. It's a complete ******* joke. There's nothing anyone can say- they could say it slowly in smaller words as if they're trying to explain it to me like I'm a mentally challenged child, and it would still make no sense from a balance, fun, or loot grind standpoint. Why does everything at what are for all intents and purposes the "base" difficulties giving higher tier loot, but not the actual endgame activities? They already cap you below the enemy like they're not supposed by default, they're harder than probably everything else in the game by default BECAUSE they're raids and dungeons, yet your reward unless you grind PERMISSION to nerf yourself into oblivion/ buff the enemy into godhood is gear a 200 or so levels below you? Exactly why I hate the raid. It was already absolute trash if that disaster of a world's first is anything to go by, so they decided in their "infinite wisdom" to keep a hated system from that raid and bring it into the dungeon. Once I finish that dungeon quest, I can't see myself grinding the dungeon for it's weapons unless they: * Fix the feat system or level system like any logical person would have by now * Make the gear level/ rank dependent like it should be * Or if they let us upgrade our gear tiers like we should've been able to by now It's a complete waste of time and effort otherwise if your rewards is gear that's a few hundred levels too late.

          • It would be okay if you only had to put on 1 or 2 fears max for tier 5 drops @550 The epic raid should have been an indication that the majority of the player base doesn't want to be forced into playing contest level activities for tier 5's. There are so few people who achieve a contest, raid or dungeon, and the feats system essentially forces you to contest to get the tier 5. People haven't do it the epic raid why did bungie think people were going to be ok with this?

            • Bungie really wove the power number into players so that it was alway the area to chase and grind . I have gradually pulled back from destiny now . I play a few games of control every other day . I’m only a third through the campaign…I haven’t even seen the new 6 player activity. But still if I get a piece of gear higher I still react then instantly think my power mean nothing …Bungie were the masters of pulling you in and keeping you logging in daily !

              • The point was not having your @rse handed to you on Legendary difficulty during the campaign. Aztecross complained it was "too easy". Go read the forum comments from ppl getting one and two tapped in the Legendary campaign. They're ALL low light. 550's breezed through. Just be grateful Bungie let us keep our light and be on your way.

                  You do get T5 gear from grade C ultimate completions at 550, so that's something

                • The point of getting to 550 was to complete all of the conquests including the Ultimate ones and for rank 11
