Bungie, you’ve done it. Destiny 2 PvP is now a glorified waiting room, where movement is punished, creativity is pointless, and gameplay has slowed to a tedious crawl. Gone are the days of high risk and high reward. Instead, we’re left with a meta that rewards players for sitting tight, relying on auto rifles and pulse rifles that map opponents from a safe distance. Why bother pushing when you can just aimlessly chip away at anything that dares to move? Truly revolutionary.
Apparently, Bungie has decided that PvP should cater to the “power fantasy” of players who, in any other shooter, wouldn’t stand a chance. Now, everyone gets to matter in the Crucible. No need for skill, timing, or precision – just sit back, shoot, and let Bungie’s vision for ease of use carry you.
Fusion rifles complete the picture, killing off any chance of close-quarters skill. Push? You die. Every attempt to move forward is met with a wave of ranged fire, making the once-dynamic battlefield a stagnant shooting gallery. And abilities – barricades, healing rifts, grenade spam – only add to the slog. PvP, once full of energy, is now a defensive grind where every fight feels the same.
This isn’t balance. This is Bungie handing everyone a free pass to power, at the expense of what made PvP thrilling. Congratulations, Bungie. You’ve turned Destiny 2 into a slow-motion, imagination-free crawl where holding down a spot is all that matters, and even the least-skilled players get to feel like gods. Well done.

7 RepliesThese fking morons keep putting me in matches where my guns feel like wet noodles firing rubber dildos and my movements and swapping are slowed way the fk down. Absolutely bullshit

Personally I feel the PvP is some of the best it’s been

Edited by Seiryoku: 11/4/2024 4:34:34 AMI agree Edit: I don't believe it's dead. It's salvageable. I just agree with much of your assessment.

11 RepliesSo you are basically saying if you can’t shotgun it unbalanced. Don’t get me wrong I can’t stand this bullshit either but it’s definitely not a fusion problem. The slide shotgun closes the gap faster than a rapid can fire

9 RepliesEdited by madman: 11/3/2024 9:59:31 PMLet's assume you are right. Why do you think that is? Maybe because most of the time if you are near anyone you just get deleted instantly due to all the bullshit movement systems you are complaining are missing. Literally people are flying across the map, teleport half a map distance when they melee you, or sliding on the floor like an idiot who wants to clean the floor up while one shotting you with a shotgun.... So, no the game is already way too fast if you get anywhere close to people. Sure, sometimes I use a sidearm for fun, but any other time, nothing below autorifle range, because I just die instantly, at least from distance it's only snipers that can one shot you and very few people use those, so not bothered.

2 Replieslol what are you expecting?! With everything that has happened of late pvp is not a focus for bungie . I play in small doses in control which is fine . Dead ….hardly ! I played last night and found games after a few minutes . Destiny 2 has had its time but dead ….the game will keep rolling on ….slowly and with minimal change .

I'm just sick of matching the same people all the time.

1 ReplyI was about to make a post about feeling morally defeated. I usually finish positive in a trials weekend, but this weekend I just felt I couldn’t get a kill ever or survive. It took me 35 games to get 7 wins.

1 ReplyI entered a few matches almost instantly today, and every other match filled up pretty quickly too. Safe to say, PvP is nowhere near dead.

Apparently I've heard that controller has better aim assist then mouse keyboard. Other than that if the damage is balanced relatively then there is skill in everything

Edited by C-a-I-l-u-m: 11/4/2024 10:39:57 AMLogged in last week for trials couldnt find a match. Couldn’t get games in as I was a hunter trying to play the “labs”. I gave up… Tried this week my teams were terrible every single game it was definitely stacked against me! The team balance was terrible. I ended up 3v1 most rounds getting farmed. I left a game cos my team were just throwing! Was down 3-0 and then lost that round (4-0) and went to orbit. Got hit with a suspension. So I turned BO6 on and had a BLAST! Got some gold camos finished off and actually had fun.. Is this the end of destiny? What can they do now?

It figures that the first time in ten years I'm enjoying using a shotgun and it's not meta.

I think this really only applies to the Highly competitive 3v3 gamemodes. Rumble and 6v6 modes don’t face the same issue because death is less of a deterrent. The way I see it is that a higher level of confidence or a lack of perceived risk will lead to a more risky and by extension, more aggressive play. Now, in 3v3, if you want to force close range engagements, you have to be fast. Not just that, but you have to understand map layout and be able to flake the opponents. This provides both support to your team who may be engaging in long range combat, but it will also stay engaging for you as you are actually doing something (or trying to). Now, once you flank someone, you have two advantages. 1. Because you are flanking them, this allows your team to also push. The pressure from two different sides is dangerous because if they and try to pick you off, they themselves will be picked off by your team and vise versa. 2. You have close range options and if they are trying to force long range engagements, then they clearly don’t. Now, some pulses are good at dueling and have decent range (BXR, Scalar Protocol, etc) but, you will have the advantage there.

My main complaint is the matchmaking and the collision mode in comp being N the worst mode ever.

Look at the casuals, utterly missing the brilliance of Bungie's PvP design in Destiny 2! They don't see that Bungie, with the patience of a saint, crafts each balance patch with the care of a master jeweler setting gems. While they whine about their favorite overpowered gun getting a "nerf," they fail to grasp they're being taught the true art of PvP, sculpted by the hands of game design deities. I, on the other hand, revel in this divine dance, while they remain in the shadows, unaware of the masterful lesson unfolding before them.

15 RepliesEdited by Northern: 11/4/2024 9:43:36 AMIt's no surprise that steam concurrent players are currently 20,600. The Destiny exodus continues....

And abilities – barricades, healing rifts, grenade spam – only add to the slog.
Titans and Warlocks still exist? I thought Bungie removed them?? Knucklehead Prism Hunter is the only one that remains. Come to your dark master, and take your place among the masses. Submit to the Prism Hunter Gods.

1 ReplyI can understand complaining about Pulses, because they're so common, but.. Autos and Fusions? Really? Fusions are used THREE TIMES LESS than shotguns. (Source: Trials Report Kills this weekend) Autos are used LESS THAN HALF as often as handcannons. (Source: Trials Report Kills this weekend) And your complaints about "playing slow" are a reflection of the game modes and maps themselves, not of the weapon meta. Pushing to CONTROL THE MIDDLE of the map has ALWAYS been the best strategy and WILL ALWAYS BE the best strategy. Once you have mid control, it's your turn to camp. It's not complicated, and nothing has changed since Day 1. Your complaints about abilities "adding to the slog" also don't make sense considering they're slower and weaker than ever before. Destiny 2 PVP is almost entirely based on primary weapon kills. Yes, abilities can be used to influence an outcome, but almost every kill is coming from a primary.

1 ReplyMy suggestion to u would be to take a long break from PVP.. I am not good in pvp never been flawless but farmed crucible a lot for the sake of some engrams loots. Tried to be better at it like effectively using covers radar etc.. but this META atm is totally team shooting and who has got the HG bygones. I also used Aishas care and it literally slapped… personally I don’t like this kinda playstyle but if you are not exceptionally good with any specific weapon u will suffer if you don’t follow this Meta specifically

wait, there is pvp in the game? xD there is several reasons people (like myselfe) give up on pvp. MM is broken. People dont play fair. Sweatlord arena. So i told myselfe, yea let these kids have it theyr way.there is other games out there, destiny is a lost cause by now.

1 ReplyLOL l'll take this pulse rifle meta over the crap people have gone through with hand cannons and shotgun apes for the last 4 years. This is a team shooting game lol maybe stop playing pvp for another year until they change the meta
