On top of ur screen there's a white bar.
The more damage the more of the white will fate.
At one point it will blink red which means ur almost dead.
If u sit behind cover with the red health it will slowly go back to white and a complete bar.
Inspect other players at the top of the standings in your pool post - match. I believe you'll find there are a lot of ways to skin the cat. Some go against conventional wisdom you might see here. I've seen very creative builds..
Play to your strengths and mitigate / minimize your weaknesses. There are plenty of instructional videos out there on crafting builds if you need a start point. Go with what you can handle and are good with....then make the most of it. There are plenty of ways to synergize your build in these videos.
Keep in mind you have to cover engagement distance. You need a close quarters answer and a more ranged engagement answer. Whatever you decide to run, I recommend getting fairly proficient with it before you evolve into different loadouts for different (either more CQ or ranged centric) maps. You can also focus on playing sections of maps that suit you best. Leverage what you're good at.
Practice practice practice. Learn the range your weapons will cover. Never unequip them.....use them on patrol or while leveling up on limitless targets at Sorrows Harbor. This will be especially true if you evolve into something specialized like slug shotguns (Chaperone and Gunnora's Axe).
If you're not aware, you can queue Private Match alone and set the timer for as long as you like - 30min or more. Learn the maps. Single best thing you can do. I did a lot of this while I learned basics.
I also recommend tactics tutorial videos you can look up.. I learned a lot from True Vanguard most particularly in my early days but he's always been relevant - shooting from the strong side of cover, never peek a lane twice, never cross a doorway or passage at head level, use of cover offensively and defensively, leveraging and prioritizing 1v1, 1v2 and 1v3s, the list goes on and on. These days I like Saywallahbruh. There are other great players out there to check out.
Live what you learn. Develop and practice good habits religiously and your game will transform.
Edit to add - if you're not aware, you can look up charts on diminishing returns on different armor stats. They're not all created equal.
There's also a massive Destiny weapons time to kill (ttk) chart / table you can access. Also....lightgg.com is very useful for viewing weapons perk rolls and options for both PvP and PvE to help you along.
Agreed with others.
Higher stats in Resilience and Recovery.
The other things I would suggest if you aren’t doing so well.
1. Get familiar with the maps. That way you know what kind of weapons work best for your play style, compared to the map. You’LL learn the best routes to take, or where the other side comes from.
2. Don’t hesitate to try different Load-outs.
3. Try a game like Control or Clash. That way you have 5 other guardians on your side. You can see how they handle situations.
4. Find weapons you are comfortable using, it doesn’t have to be what everyone else is using.
5. Watch you play style. Maybe there’s something you do often that gets you killed. Maybe try a different path or tactic.
Hope this is helpful.
