I feel like making Primary Weapons have infinite ammo might've been bad for the game

Agree or disagree infinite primary gives many players an incentive to sidestep the ammo ammo economy at the cost of their individual effectiveness. As content design philosophy began to shift I could definitely agree that more ammo availability was necessary, but the infinite ammo fix has basically resulted in an entire generation of guardians dead set on a bad habit. In my opinion the game's design should better help players prepare for the endgame and for Destiny I understand the guidance towards that goal has been loose because the fellas at Bungie just want players to use what feels good hence all the hidden stats and lack of transparency on Bungie's behalf regarding what hidden stats do. The overall result feels more like a Kung Pow Moment because it's hard to prep players for endgame when their sole motive for item usage is feel and not viability

  • Counterarguement. It takes like 20-40 bow shots to kill a champion at GM level. And bow ammo count was 70 total ammo. If it takes up to 1/3 or half of your total ammo count it is dumb if you have limited ammo.

  • Brother nobody runs double primary. Infinite primary ammo was overall a better change because it removed the annoying aspect of running out of primary ammo

      • While I recognize that I may incur ridicule from some members of the community, I frequently run double-primaries because of the simplicity of not fretting over ammo conservation during activities, specifically the more challenging ones. Does that effectively hamstring me as far as damage output goes? Maybe, but I'd rather take my time and succeed rather than fail because I'm left with nothing but harsh language to sling at the enemy at what could be a critical moment. Plus, on the limited occasions that I play PvP, I don't like contributing to opposing players having sufficient ammo to shotgun me in the face with.

          • The problem is the special weapons. Most of them are just bad most of the time. The only reason people used double special is because of infinite heavy ammo. They should buff all special weapons to the level of D1 and then they can make a change for primary ammo if that’s really matter for you

No, screw that. It's better this way. It was a damn headache before when you'd completely run out of ammo, and had to either wait for your abilities to recharge, hide in a corner until the game decides to automatically give you ammo, or wait for your allies to get kills, so you can, hopefully, get some ammo drops from enemies. Also, the reason why some players end up running double primaries is because of the anti-champion Artifact mods, which are often for primary weapon types. They need to add more for Special and Heavy weapons, or rework the mods so they include Primary, Special, and Heavy weapons. They could, for example, take the Anti-champion mods for Autorifles, and make new ones that also include Trace Rifles. They could take the ones for Scout Rifles, and include Sniper Rifles into them, or take the ones for SMGs, and include Machine Guns.

Never seen a bigger L take in my life. Bros mad they made a good decision with ammo. Before infinite primary ammo you had so many situations where you'd run out of ammo trying to do certain high-end encounters and there's no reason to be running out of primary so you have nothing to shoot. Takes like these are why Bungie keeps making awful decisions in the game. It's just sad how wrong some people can be. Also your comment on how people ignore viability because of infinite ammo is the most smooth brained sentence I've read to date. Literally anyone doing anything of high-end difficulty will run what's best if they have it. You're actually out here trying to fight ghosts that aren't even in the same room as you. I play at the highest levels and can easily tell you that you're just wrong. It's never been about what feels good and what's viable/useful in those activities and as far as hidden stats go(which most show up in the game now) a quick google search will help you find the stats you're looking for.

The champion system along with seasonal champion mods is what influences players to run double primary, NOT because primaries have infinite ammo. Adding more champion mods or making new mods that consolidates multiple archtypes such as “precision barrier” or “scatter overload” will make players run traditional loadouts again. I will probably quit the game if primary ammo bricks return.

                • What is this bad habit you are referring to? I love having infinite primary, better than running around picking up grey bricks on the floor which ultimately didn't serve a real purpose.

                  • Primaries only have infinite ammo to stop everyone from getting free special and heavy ammo.

                  • You always had infinite ammo one way or another. If you ran out of primary ammo when it was limited, after some time, by magic, your weapons would get ammo and some ammo reserves.

                      • Would you want Primaries to have infinite ammo, but having a limited amount of special/heavy ammo, or limited primary ammo, but everyone using up all of their ammo, hide in a corner, and have their ammo back in thin air?

                      • Eh I mean the main reason the ammo thing happened was because champs and seeing as people love to solo stuff it would be basically impossible to solo any harder activity.
