I feel like my time as a player is finally being respected in this game mode, I’ve earned loot, had tough matches and fun matches. No I’m not getting adept loot and that’s not my expectation, yes I’ve gotten stomped by stacked teams because this isn’t freelance. Yes, I’ve had some blueberries screw up matches but they’re one and done.
I used to engage with trials by using the Destiny app LFG looking specifically for “chill trials, bounty grind no mic” or even worse “bounty, jumping off map” depending on the 3 win reward lol. Then there’s the awkward step of needing to add the players as friends on PS5 then removing them once the bounty was over or they randomly quit. Now I can just hop in, grind at my own pace, listen to podcasts and not get stressed about card resets. Great change so far!
Edit: I’m loving the positive feedback from everyone!!! I’m excited to keep ranking up with Saint today, got up to 6 wins before I called it a night last night. 6 wins is huge for me, second time I’ve ever gotten 6 wins! Next week I’ll grind my alt characters and unlock their armor.
Edit2: teamed up with clan mates and got my first flawless ever today, enjoyed that so much I got a second flawless card done!

Its nice to see the game mode to be taken less seriously finally. But its gonna die out again once all the non-pvp folk get their weapon roles they want. Competitive Destiny just ain't it.

3 RepliesI'm a bad to average player who never touched trials because there was no reason. I've solo queued this weekend and had the exact same experience as you, I love it!
-
1 ReplySame map, same spawns. I don’t see the fun of doing the same thing over and over again. That’s just me.

16 RepliesTrials/Crucible Need To Be Removed From The Game. Trials/Crucible Has Been And Will Always Be The Reason Destiny Is Held Back. Because Toxic Crucible/Trials Players -blam!- And Complain Too Much And It Effects PvE. Also Have PvP Also Take Time That Could Be Spent On Improving PvE And The Story.

15 RepliesEdited by Gilgamesh: 9/12/2021 10:53:33 PMSo you are a Non-pvp player Farmed bounties by killing youself And you feel like you were owed? You aren’t a PvP player why TF are you owed endgame PvP gear if you dont want to work for it? Are you okay with bungue making GMs easy enough to where someone whos never been in a GM at all to get it done on the first try with two randoms they met on lfg? (How about add matchmaking to make it even better)

9 RepliesEdited by AVID_Eurobeat: 9/12/2021 9:09:55 PMI get the impression it’s easier than before. My friend, that never touched trials, and I went flawless without even trying, we had one close game. But, I still believe that those change were for the best because my friend now likes trials lol.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 9/12/2021 3:41:14 PMI tried it out a bit both solo and with a friend who’s new to the game. It was pretty fun this time around. It isn’t perfect but much less stressful and more welcoming in regards to getting loot. I might actually try running trials every week now (assuming it stays this good or improves). Congrats on going flawless btw

I actually quit playing this game all together almost 4 months ago after losing 2 cards in a row at game 5 with mercy. Matched every game to teams that were ranked top 100 players on the planet. Absolutely pointless for me to play a game mode that matches a 43 year old Dad with the top players on the planet! Just literally quit Destiny on the spot and sold all of my video game stuff. I’m glad devs actually figured it out and made their game playable again, though. It’s really awesome to see the positivity on the forums. Better late than never.

2 RepliesTry solo queuing.

50 RepliesI'm loving it. I'm not doing very well but I expected that because I'm a fairly mediocre player who has the occasional decent performance. Unlike seemingly most of the commentors I'm seeing I do quite enjoy being matched against better players, as it's a learning experience and I can passively pick up tips and tricks.
-
2 RepliesJust spent the last hour and a half trying to get 7 individual wins for my hunter. I'll admit I'm not great at pvp but not terrible. Didn't get a single one. Won maybe 10 rounds. If bungie thinks the matchmaking is balanced based off card and performance, they're full of -blam!-.

4 RepliesThe loot is good, not having to LFG is good. It’s just that destiny PvP sucks. Must agree that this is infinitely better than it was before, I would like to see how freelance plays, it’s disheartening when you see a triple stack with triple 100 stats top meta weapons and your team has double ARs and not one stat point over 50.
-
1 ReplyIs it me, or people who want to go flawless can just quit and it doesn’t count as a loss? I’m only asking because a few people quit on me today, even wound up alone. Just curious.
-
3 RepliesThis is what they should have done from the very beginning. It’s so obvious. I remember the Company defenders who were against matchmaking for the sake of being contrarians, throwing around BS excuses like ppl having a bad experience, no mics, etc. all of which r so du%# and speak to their personal false perceptions that they want to force everyone to obey. Now that matchmaking has finally arrived, it is doing what I long said would happen: encourage more playing and rejuvenate the playlist. It’s funny how the Bungie defenders that were against matchmaking have now went into hiding and nowhere to be found lol as if their precious company can never make bad calls

Wish i had the same experience. Trials has killed my mental health and I still don't have fun with all the sweaty Xbox players and the next gen bs. I wish trials was possible to enjoy but the matchmaking and player base make it impossible

Edited by Kirka: 9/12/2021 4:03:08 AMI never play Trials but last night I drank 24 beers and some a-hole asked me to play.. Wasn't as bad as expected but stil horrible. Only saving grace was my drunken state.

Its endgame pvp, it is supposed to be hard. Dont never listen players who like to shoot big yellow add with ar and ofcourse pay for removed content and ofcourse pay for old content. Destiny 2 is now dead finally.
-
6 RepliesI went in for the first time in a while and almost accidentally went flawless, I'd say its way better than before now.
-
Agreed. I hated trials before. This actually feels way more fun for some reason. I'm not facing the same 50 players on PC over and over anymore. Im facing Xbox players, Playstation, Stadia, the loot feels way more rewarding.
-
Happy to see people finally enjoying this mode.
-
It is so fun for people that can run around getting shot and take no damage. Fun to one shot with primary. The network with cross play is garbage
-
i been having a blast i suck but having a great time

1 ReplyThis trials system is so fair to me I love it as a player who sucks at pvp. I finally can play the mode without wasting my time. This new system incentivizes me to play more pvp and get better so that I can eventually go flawless one day but it’s not essential anymore. You can still play and get rewards. It’s almost perfect. Only thing we need is a solo queue but still you don’t even need it to get the normal engrams you’ll get a boat load of them for losing
-
I agree this is the change it needed. Trials is finally fun. Yeah we get stomped by stacked teams from time to time but, I feel my time invested is worth the rewards and if you get to 7 wins without flawless it's fine. You are still being greatly rewarded for the time and effort into doing so!
-
I'll tell you what, and there are some of you here that I've had arguments about this as well 😂 I adamantly used to believe...that the only people who deserved to go flawless were those who could get there by contributing to every victory on a card. That trials was no place for casual "peasants" if you will. But over time...I've come to realize the truth. Destiny 2 PvP fundamentally... isn't competitive. At least not enough to warrant that type of mindset. The changes to Trials did not "Casualify it" either, but made it more bearable, and the loot more accessable for a larger pool of players. It's still not the best experience obviously, but it's 1000% a better experience than what it was until now, as well as a step in the right direction.

I ran Trials for the first time in D2 today. I'm still tuning how I play and weapon choices, but playing solo MM I was happy to experience more competitive matches than I have read about in the forums from the past. I still ended up playing dedicated Trails teams that cleared us without a sweat, but it was not very often. Typically if we won, it was earned and if we lost it was a fair loss in most cases.
