Destiny 2: Season of Trials (Curious Food for Thought)

I've seen a couple names rumored for the next season's title and even more data-mined information about "Trials of Osiris" returning. And there's so many people excited about it. I have to ask something, though... Why? It's still going to be Trials in Destiny 2. The name of it doesn't matter and it wasn't exactly great when it arrived as Trials of The Nine. So why do so many people think slapping a different name on the same thing will suddenly make it better? I don't get it. I've seen tweets about it and I've seen posts in my Facebook feed on articles relating to this rumored information. I don't understand why calling it "Osiris" instead of "The Nine" makes a difference. Maybe the reward system will return to what it was like in Destiny? Is that the hopeful thought on this? I'll admit, I suck like a Dyson when it comes to PvP in this game. In OG "Modern Warfare" I was probably above average, still not top tier but I never tried to be, but this game I know I'm worse at. Not sure why. Don't really care. Bringing it back around, I did play around in Trials in D1 and had some people to run for funsies and, I think, my best was five wins before getting my ass handed to me. Something like that, I think. It was.... Fine. Got some fun weapons out of it. It was just fine. I can't think of another reason to feel this next season will involve a somehow better version of Trials in D2 that would get people excited. The matches are going to be the same. The weapon loadouts are going to be what you've seen in quick and comp, already. You know this. Most of you hate this. So it has to be the potential for a better reward system and loot pool. But look at what they did with Banner. They added a completely unnecessary "quest" (you know it's just another chore) before you can redeem tokens. Why? Because people stockpiled so many of them? And? Delete them each season. Done. Those bounties should reward high-level armor, not RNG anything and everybody gets four energy weapons in a row. Then the match completions should have RNG with weapons while tokens earned redeem packages that are also weapons. Wanna make it unique? Certain weapons only drop after a win in Banner, if luck is on your side. And package weapons from tokens are just basic seasonal refreshed stock. I know, that doesn't exist, but I'm saying it should in addition to how rewards are, well, rewarded. So what makes you think there won't be some arbitrary chore list before you can start having even the potential of earning the things you want if and when Trials of Osiris should come to D2? Won't that be fun? Forced to play with specific weapons, again, in the most die-hard of die-hard competitive PvP that Destiny has to offer. Looking forward to needing twenty linear fusion rifle precision kills in a couple months, are we? Hmm? Look, if you like the current system of Destiny 2 and how they handle.....everything....then this was a waste of your time to read. It might still be a waste of your time to read but, then, there's just no pleasing you. Regardless, if more bloated chores lists are what you want then I hope you love every second of it. I do. Have a blast. If you're not and you know this is likely what they're going to do then I bring it back to my original point... Why? Why are you excited about Trials returning? Or, if this made you question some things, what are you going to do come next season?

  • Well, trials of the nine was 4v4 survival/countdown no radar with double primaries. (Atleast at launch). Trials of osiris is 3v3 elimintion. So just the game Modes are aren't even close to the same thing. That's probably the biggest reason. People are hyped, trials of the nine never caught on the same as ToO did, and the decline of trials post rise of iron was simply do to the horrible special balance in pvp. However, most people that are somewhat good in pvp realize we need an sandbox update before trials launches aswell as a pay-wall or anti-cheat. If not its gonna just be a shit show. Since elimination is very unforgiving. I'm also curious If they cap light levels or if the artifacts -blam!-s it up, you would think that was a given, but idk with bungie anymore.
