My question is why the hell are we saving Saint 14 and not going back in time to save Cayde and put Uldren Sov permanently in the ground.

Well then give us back Vex Protocol from last season and tell us to go collect a billion components for Ikora so she can build yet another useless portal in the Tower except through space magic and Todd Howard's "It just works" philosophy, you created a rift in time to right before Cayde dies and rescue him while leaving his currently dead body for your Guardian to find in the Prison of Elders during Forsaken to complete the time loop and avoid a paradox. In this way we not only get Cayde back, Bungie can recycle even more content and charge $10 for it.

Even though you’re quite obviously taking the piss, that won’t exactly work in any capacity. The portal wasn’t actually a portal itself, it simply hijacked Vex Gates to pull the Undying Mind through. All those Vex components were to calibrate the device to specifically pull the Undying Mind through from other timelines, not quite time travel.
