Heavy in Survival is ridiculous

How in hell is heavy ammo spawning in the first 30 seconds of a round in Survival a good thing? This is what an average round goes like: Spawn run straight to where heavy spawns and control it, take heavy and punish the other team. Seriously? Yes I understand "It speeds up the rounds so they don't last forever" but 30 seconds is way too early. Heavy should be a last resort to keep the games flowing, perhaps in the last 30 seconds or something. Countless times I've had dumb teammates who don't fight for heavy and end up losing a round due to 1 person on the enemy team constantly picking up heavy and "outgunning" everyone. 30 seconds is way too early to spawn when the round has just started and most lives are up instead of a finisher to the round. TLDR - Heavy spawns way too early and should be adjusted to spawn at the end of the round to end dead locks

  • What do you think of widows court? Its literally a criss cross of sniping past the heavy ammo brick every single round.

      Bungie hasn’t decided on another way to incentivize people not to camp. However, as it stand heavy is easily locked down with the proper loadouts and strategies. Snipers can prevent a ninja grab, stickies and any trap can buy time, and making use of class abilities such as the shield and/or a rift to support. [spoiler]but if you have bad teammates then there is nothing you can do[/spoiler]

    • I'd just like to see heavy spawns reverted to D1 standards across all playlists. Once per match, if you're at the chest when it opens, you get some. I've never liked the heavy system in D2.

        Not a fan of the heavy but with no focal point in map to force engagements people would just camp with snipers and scouts making the game worse than it already is.

      • On the flip side, heavy can also save a round. My team has done it. I have also been on a team that was up 3-0 in lives for the round, pushed to hard didn’t control heavy and they used it to come back. I have clutched 1v3 rounds by myself, something I’m not known for, with nothing but heavy and a super. Plus, on the occasion matchmaking decides you WILL lose this game, you know those games😂. Heavy speeds up the misery! Remove it, reduce it, doesn’t matter to me I don’t crutch on it. But just know removing it, will slow down gameplay.

          • Completely correct. Heavy has little place in a "competitive" game mode because anybody going against a rocket or even a mg like 21% delirium is more than likely fixin to lose. There is nothing "competitive" about heavy. And for those who say there needs to be a point for teams to fight over for advantage, I continue to rest my case that they should have salvage from destiny 1 be the comp game mode.

          • No. The point of heavy ammo is incentive for teams to control a point that can turn the tide of battle. If there wasn’t heavy ammo the “meta” would be to get an early sniper pick, and camp out the rest of the round. Then we’d see a million posts about the camping in survival.

                  I camp heavy for kills. Its useless to go after it and be a sitting duck. Now, if we just wiped the entire team, and they are waiting to spawn back in, sure I'll grab it before they do. By my heavy slot is pretty much meaningless to me, I don't even focus on it. I feel it's more to draw people out and fight.

                • I think they should rotate the heavy. Much like how they rotate the spawn points, heavy should be rotated. This would make for an interesting tactic, and have it be COMPLETELY RANDOM just any freakin place. Let’s see a Revoker camper wait on that lol! Camping heavy had always been a game winning tactic, you take that away; now all of a sudden people 1. Have to search for it, 2. They have to better think of which weapons they want to use. Having the scout rifle pinnacle has been awesome, I’ve gotten so sick of a RIFLE being out gunned by a Hand Cannon. I know we fight aliens and crap in this game so I won’t challenge realism, but come on, Luna/NFG are hard to get, we all know this, but a [u]RIFLE[/u] should always out-gun a small hand cannon, other than Vow. Close quarters, I got you; Luna and NFG up, but if I’m using Jade Rabbit at what looks like 100 yards away, your hand cannon shouldn’t be able to obtain precision hits. It’s just not possible. That went off topic at the end, but yeah rotate the Heavy to random locations and make people work for their sniper kills please 😉

                  Heavy shouldn't even be in comp. How is heavy a skill? I can shoot a truth rocket across the map and kill someone. That's not highly skilled, that's just good tracking. What I really hate too, is being killed by a machine gun instantly across the map. But when I am 15 feet from the person, they slide shotgun kill me. Another thing that is stupid. It takes two dawn blades to kill a hunter or titan in their super. It takes one dawn blade to kill a stormcaller in their super. It takes one hammer or blade strike from a hunter to kill a warlock in their super. The balance in this game is terrible. Another thing I learned, and most of you titans will do this now. But on certain maps, if your titan is leveled up right, he can get high enough where he can float at the top of the map and stay there for 10-15 seconds. Some can even get on ledges and hide above everyone else. The cheap shit I've seen lately.

                    Nah, it seems fine to me. If they don't do that, teams will just play hide and seek. Heck, even with heavy ammo, I still run into this. Besides it DOES take skill to secure/control the heavy ammo. The team that does it is obviously the better team. Isn't that supposed to be how it works in comp?

                      I would be fine with heavy being 1-2 rounds per game. I believe the intention was to create an incentive for people to move and to stop a sniper pick camping meta (and snipers in high level comp, even on console, are kind of out of control already). The problem is that not all maps are created equal or balanced when it comes to heavy ammo. Some spawns are better than others on certain maps. In a way, the current system still encourages camping. But this time next to a purple box of destruction. The fix is to tune heavy ammo so you get less ammo (again) and to make it spawn at maximum 1 time per round. If you have long rounds you can see heavy twice, which is kind of stupid and takes any tension out of overtime flag captures. Machine guns should give enough ammo for 2 kills. I believe hammerhead gives 42 right now? Way too much. Truth gives 2 rockets. I think it should be reduced to 1. Exotic heavies in general are somewhat of an issue, but if wardcliff coil only gets 1, the same should apply to truth. You can either have super good tracking, or a big AoE. One or the other. As far as other heavies: I think most of them are fine. They give about enough to make a difference in a match (apart from swords, because you know, it’s a sword) but not totally turn a match around.

                      • Bungie just needs to remove comp and replace it with either trials of the nine or trials of Osiris. I don’t understand why they refuse to put trials of any type back into the game, but the lack of a rewarding crucible gamemode with competition in it is really underwhelming.

                        • Also ammo per brick still too much. 42 rounds for a machine gun or 2 rockets for wardcliff are too much. They made good job about supers and heavy needs a rework now.
