Speaking of design, PvP maps in D2 are bad in general, imho.
Firebase Echo, Gambler's Ruins and The Fortress are probably the worst. I've played only few matches on Fragment so I can't really judge it, but I've notied some parts that made me think: "Who the hell thought this was a good idea for a PvP map?".

Fragment = good... you can play different styles and you can’t really get spawn camped Gamblers Ruin = trash because it’s nothing but a spawn camp fest. Died within 2 seconds of spawning several times... died within one second of spawning by erentil several times. Mixed with the exponential curve of light advantage ( master at arms procing is useless if someone is just 9 light levels above you ) and it’s just a crap fest

Never played Halo so I really can't make a comparison about that, but I understand the feeling =) pretty positive indeed!
