It's a new system, not a change, so not sure what else you were expecting

We were expending what was normal for 5 years of playing their game. There was zero clarity offered on how this change would affect game sharing. Destiny was always able to share all content and now it's not and it's not obvious for the people who were used to it. It needed to be explained better. Customer Service 101. If something is going to affect a large portion of your user base you need to make the fully aware of what the changes will impact.

Edited by residentsummer: 10/4/2019 11:13:31 AMYear has 4 seasons, so in theory, 4 seasonal things should combine into one annual, right? We had an Annual pass in Y2 that covered 4 seasons of content, and separate Season passes in Y3. Those things are still called "passes" and we still got "seasons" and there is 4 of them. How is that a new system?
-
It's not the same format, i.e a new system, like a battle pass. To call try and class the two years of "season passes" as the same thing is being pedantic and ignorant.
-
Sure, I'm being pedantic now. That's what you do when bungie goes greedy. And let me continue to prove my point. What is the season? A combination of new activities and content (armor, weapons etc). How do one get access to the season? By purchasing an individual pass for each season or an annual pass for all coming seasons this year. How to obtain a pass? Buy it through the platform store (PS Store in my case) either after the game comes out, or via pre-order (my case). Or (and its a novelty in Y3) buy it in-game via silver. So, what we have here. Seasons are the same in Y2 and Y3. Old ways to get an access to them are still present (we just got one new way). How's that a new system again? By the way, "pedantic" and "ignorant" are almost opposite of each other, so I don't get what you mean...

My replies below cover off how I disagree with you, I've not got anything else to add.

I think trying to relate it to other games' 'battle passes' rather than Destiny's own 'Annual and Expansion Passes' when no such comparison has ever been made by Bungie is being pedantic and ignorant...
-
From Wiki: In the video game industry, a battle pass is a type of monetization approach that provides additional content for a game usually through a tiered system, rewarding the player with in-game items by playing the game and completing specific challenges. I don't know what Bungie referencing has to do with anything, but if the above doesn't cover what they are now doing as the NEW system, I don't know what does. This season pass is in line with Fortnite, Apex, etc. I don't need Bungie to tell me it's so to see it.
-
Wiki is the equivalent of asking a bum the side of the road.
-
Cool. We've already established ad nauseam what it is now. But can you find anything relating to, or explaining this change from Bungie? Because for the last five years, Destiny has not worked the same way as "Fortnite, Apex, etc" and I'm failing to see why Destiny players should be familiar with other games as a prerequisite...

It's not my place or job to show why they changed- but they have. Businesses tend to follow trends that show success for other businesses, that's how they make money... We obviously don't agree on how this has played out from Bungie, which is fine. I'm not really in to going down this rabbit hole any further.

Edited by NoStatsHereMate: 10/4/2019 11:42:11 AMYou were quick to quote wikipedia. Why not Bungie's own words? Also, I'm not interested in 'why' they changed. I just want to see where they let their current customers know that there's going to be an important change to the way their game is monetised. Seems like a really important thing for a business to do.
