Better step up your anti-cheat game.
No one is talking about this but F2P = cancer for PvP.
There are people who are absolute shite at PvP who will create accounts just to ruin it for everyone else, this will become an epidemic unless you step up your AC game.
Reporting individuals will not work, you have too large of a player base, also temp banning on suspicion is nothing you can do, you need to stomp on network manipulation and external hacks immediately.
Look at CSGO, prime example of what the F happens when a game goes from paid to F2P ( hint, it's absolute trash and expecting players to report the cheaters hundres of times before getting reviewed... By players ), leading example of how to handle it is Apex Legends though, HWID/IP ban + account ban is the way to go.

i'm on console. i can create multiple accounts. teach me how to cheat?
-
Yeah comp will be pretty bad. People can just make free accounts, go into comp, ddos everyone until they get banned, make new account rinse and repeat. See how far they can go, and all along nothing is traced back to their main paid for account. Bungie doesn’t IP ban so what is stopping them?
-
Edited by reenry: 9/17/2019 10:50:10 PMThats not how it works lol. Destiny has no cheaters, at least from my part and I played console for 3 years. Ddossing is rare as shit and can only happen if you let them grab your IP or you just have unprotected shit. Also steam has great anti cheat so ye. Also CSGO? They havent updated there anti cheat at all for the f2p playlists. But if you go into comp that shit can get shutdown but its possible to find it. CSGO is also just old. Destiny 2 was free on PC 2 years ago. Cheaters? Nope. The game is also 15 bucks back then and 5 now. Cheaters nope? Dont assume f2p = cheaters. And if they are legitimate cheater? Shit Bungie knows how to shut it down and distribute acording
-
Shame they ever opened the game up to PC. All cheaters over there anyway
-
Nah, PC = Cheaters
-
I believe that you have to pay money to have the ability to get into PVP. I think that the free stuff is all PVE.
-
Mostly on PC, unfortunately. As much as people complain about paying for online play on consoles, at least it provides a monetary barrier to cheaters.
-
So glad I play on console so I don't that to deal with this behaviour.
-
This was the first thing I thought about after reading the TW@B that announced New Light.
-
This is why I’d gladly take 30 FPS over constant cheaters, hackers, and AFKers.
-
But i thought they were removing auto reload with luna and rally so you can't cheat anymore. Too soon?

Someone needs a waaaambulance

Free to play has 9 letters, xur is an agent of the nine, what if all the legendary shards we have been farming are taking by xur and converted into crypto currency and that is how they are funding the new improved ftp model of destiny.
-
I am making my cheat public so that cheaters will not have unfair adventage. Features: 1) Infinite Super energy Activation: Use titan arc bottom tree. 2) Increased damage, wallhack, overshield, health regeneration Activation: Equip OEM. 3) Infinite special ammo, one-hit kill Activation: Equip shotgun. 4) Aimbot Activation: Equip Truth or Jotunn Credits: All credits go to Bungie. Thank you for your hard work!

They'll be mostly matching with other kinderguardians. Bungie said they are gonna keep the pools separate for a while and I'd imagine that time period is based on when the account starts playing. By the point of full integration the account will more than likely have been caught and stopped. If not then it wont take long for it to be caught afterward. Bungie seems to have an absolute crazy amount of oversight into every little interaction in the game by every player. Hell I bet they can drop the number of bullets fired on any particular day in any particular place. I wouldn't worry too much about it all tbh. The legitimate cheaters will be caught fast.
-
It won’t make any difference to people being able to create multiple accounts whether the game cost you $100000000 or be free, as if you home Xbox or have your primary PlayStation set up you can play destiny on any number of accounts for free, this will really only apply to pc, I’m also unaware if steam allows for a game share feature. So while your argument is true to an extent, it’s misplaced as far as target.
-
FTP models do invite a lot of guys like this But since this is like 99.99% a PC problem, I ain't fussed
-
Bungie doesn't mind cheaters as long as they cheat using Eververse armour and guns with all ornaments!
-
I think that it will affect PC more than consoles as you can have as many accounts on one PS4 as possible and play destiny for free as long as you have one account with the license and gold membership.
-
This is already a thing on Xbox Share your gold account with any account on your Xbox Alt accounts everywhere.
-
Apex did that? Dang I wish their game actually survived. Too bad they missed the Battle Royale hype train.
-
Not on console :)

"better step up your anti cheat game" You get insta banned for having any program that has the ability to inject any code for any reason running in the background while you play. If they "step up the anti cheat" they'll require us to run the game on a VM everytime we play. We've never had a cheater problem yet, we won't now
-
To be fair, Valve owns CS:GO and they are even worse than Bungie at communicating with their playerbase. But yea, going F2P is going to dent the game no doubt. If Bungie can at least get their anti-cheat good enough to ban the most common cheats then script kiddies shouldn't be as problematic as repeat offenders. The latter is the one to worry about the most.
