I'm thinking about buying and 04 Subaru, thought of a cool engine swap, found a V10 viper engine for sale on eBay.
I've heard of someone using a viper engine in a Subaru, if i can find the video with the engine swap, I'll post it

1 ReplyI seriously doubt that engine would fit unless you put it in the backseat (if Subies have those).

10 RepliesEdited by Cobravert: 7/13/2019 8:54:19 PMAs one of the resident car guys all I can say is, if that's what you want to do, go for it. It's the oddities of our preferences in the car world that adds uniqueness to what we drove. As a practical person I will add, this sounds like one of the most monumental wastes of time, effort, resources (the Viper V10), and ginormous amounts of cash that I thinks it's insane levels of ridiculous. I can not see the drive train from a Viper remotely fitting into a Subie, let alone be safe with it's track and wheel base. The wheel wells aren't big enough to handle the meats that this kind if torque requires, let alone the body is not designed for it's amount of torque twisting. The tear end would need to be replaced,.... Bottom line is, without entirely rebuilding the entire body shell, and underside, replacing every drive train component, sub frame, strut and spring groups, let alone exhaust, fuel pump and entire fuel line system, all the computers and wiring, entire bracke packages,.... Do I really need to go on? You would be better off just ricing the heck out of the Subie with mods so once it blows you won't be out as much.

No, I find women more attractive

6 RepliesSwapping a perfectly fine Subaru engine for a massive 8.0 liter Viper engine is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of.

I personally don’t like the look of Subarus. Let alone their engines (including the boxers). I’d just get a viper in general! Talk about a turn of the century sporty icon

I want a Dodge Demon

1 ReplySorry no big car guy here. I look for a car that gets the job done.

1 ReplyEdited by Sylver: 7/14/2019 5:57:53 AMYeah, I personally think it was a great movie. Cars 3 handed it down pretty well, despite the... strange plot of Cars 2. It has good characters and some deep lore, such as the the descent of Lightning’s speed from Aezoth, the Third Demon King, or Mater’s Yakuza-fighting sub-arc in neo-imperial Japan.

I can appreciate a cool or expensive car but I personally don’t care about cars at all which is funny because of my username.

I love cars. I really do. I used to eat, sleep and breathe them. Now I just drive and pay someone else to turn a wrench to maintain the computer I drive, lol (she is purdy though). Once we get our place, if I have my way and we get property, I am going to put up a shop and get a classic or 2 to teach my kids to wrench on. Build a cool ride and enjoy.

Not really, I generally spend most of my time out of cars.

1 ReplyI'm only into cars when driving. Otherwise I'm out of them.

Cool idea sure, practical no. Subies are quality makes, run her, wrench her as need be, learn her ins and outs. After all that you should know what you want to really do and be capable of. I just helped a buddy with his 86 C10, he did the typical LS swap like most GM boys. He helped me with my 83 Jeep CJ Mopar LA swap. We aren't pros but honestly I have never met anyone who has done a swap and or custom build that doesn't continue to wrench on said vehicle.
