Please do NOT heavily nerf Telesto

Houndish recently shared a video where it quoted Cozmo saying that he is working with the sandbox team about balancing issues and that telesto, nova warp and one eyed were in the hot seat. Please Bungie, Please do not bring heavy nerfs to these items. It would be a huge mistake. (at the very least to Telesto, OEM I understand lol) I have 4 simple reasons for this. 1) We are on the cusp of a new expansion. Why would you bring nerfs before we see how the pve and pvp meta's develop? 2) In PvP where, I'm assuming, most, if any, complaints are coming from, this weapon is NO where near as prevalent as the hand cannon shotgun meta you have ushered in. The literal sweat build is Luna's, dust rock, coil or queen's. I HATE IT! By nerfing telesto, you are taking away a solution to the build that, once again, EVERYONE is using (when they aren't grinding the Mountain Top). 3) Rather than nerfing telesto, where are the buffs to scouts, autos, and smg's? 4) The weapon is one of the few viable options to countering the luna's meta. a. There is rng with the pellets b. the ttk doesnt not compete well in the current meta c. the audio cue gives anyone with half a brain the knowledge of which player you are, which weapon you are using, your location, and is then countered by sliding shotgun, or high jump shotgun, everytime. The community cried about sleeper, A weapon EVERYONE had access too, you nerfed it, and now there is no "current" answer to queen's in gambit. (Hopefully with S5 that changes). I know a nerf will likely be coming to the weapon and I 100% do not believe the weapon is without its flaws or that it could't be tweaked slightly. All I ask is that if it is to be nerfed, please do not nerf it into the ground. Please keep it competitive to the, as of this post, luna's dustrock meta.

  • Having started to use Nova Warp in Gambit and Crucible to try and see what the issue is, I think there are two things that need to be addressed. First off, A lot like Stormcaller, NW needs to be about 100% less floaty in general, but this is more a PVE buff(?). A Centurion/Minotaur/Ogre/Captain stomp should not send me flying literally 60ft away and entirely negate half of my super as I try to reposition. Secondly, holy shit does 28 seconds feel like forever. On the one hand, being dumb and not activating at the right time can actually bone the hell out of you, on the other, you half nearly half a minute to go ham. I would /like/ to see the time-cost of the charged void eruptions upped so that they have to be used a good bit more sparingly. Also, repeated teleports should incur an increasing cost as you jump. I can't tell you how many times I've been dumb, started a NW on one side of the map and really not suffered too much of a loss because of Jump -> glide -> blinkblinkblink. Outside of that, the range can be a little weird and inconsistent at times(or at least feel that way) because of the visual distortion effect and I'd like to see that toned down just a bit to help with judging when you can nab someone at the edge of the bubble. Damage wise, I think it's alright. It's mostly just a matter of how little risk there is using it. A built in teleport, two shot AOE no-aim-necessary super that you can use from one side of the map to the other and still get a kill or two is a bit... much. As for Telesto, I feel like the best way to bring it in line would be to drop the trigger-zone for the exotic perk. as it stands, you can be a pretty moderate distance away from one and still have it go off and get its damage. And OEM is a bit much. Wallhacks are fine. that's not why people use it. the whole instant fullheal+Oversheilds however... My suggestion would be to replace the full heal with regen and leave the OS that way there's more room for counterplay over "get good and kill them first or run away." The damage is whatever, though I'm iffy on if it should stack with Rampage/KC.

    • Telesto is just Crucible training wheels. You don't need to hit the person, just near them. I have a perfect solution. Make the pellets implode instead of exploding. Anything they actually touch takes the same amount of damage, no dropoff added. But absolutely no AoE damage. So if someone bumps a pellet on a wall or walks on top of one, it still hurts, and really hurts if you hit them. But you can't hit the wall beside them and kill that way if they avoid touching the wall.

        • Thank rngesus for the nerfs we are about to receive! Those 3 are cancer in pvp. I would say all supers need a damage resistance nerf but especially nova warp. Telesto needs a stability nerf so it can't map anymore or a buff n move to heavy. One eyed mask needs the wormhusk treatment bc it's just stupid compared to any other exotic.

          • What I don’t understand is Bungie gave the PvP community a giant -blam!- you with the pinnacle GL, yet they still keep nerfing things for them? I thought we got to the stage where we didn’t give a shit about PvP anymore? Why do we keep getting nerfs then? What’s it going to take to finally get the tiny little PvP community that’s left to leave this game for good?

            • This is the one thing I hate about this game. Any weapon that shines is going to get hammered. It’s a sci fi game about space magic. Let us keep a little magic. They need to quit ruining pve for the sake of pvp balance. It’s time to have only generic weapons in pvp.

                • Telesto should at least get a damage drop off. It's the only fusion rifle without one and it's really easy to kill people across the map with it. If they added a damage drop off, then it would still work well in its intended range whilst not being able to kill from across the map.

                      • As someone who used telesto with a full armor set made to improve it. Using it since forsakens release i cant wait for it to be tweaked, the gun counters everything when used smartly. Kill someone of ress, block a chokepoint, deny heavy, punish players who group up, shotgunners, people far far away who stand close to walls.With this gun alone you can do so much.

                          I would agree that we might want to see how the expansion might change the meta (i highly doubt it). You can buff autos, scouts and SMGs all you want, they are not gonna save you from being sprayed to death by a Telesto. Coming from someone who has abused Telesto to it's fullest, they might want to do something about it. It's an insanely fun weapon to use and with 2 scavenger perks there isn't a corner of the map i haven't sprayed with Telesto shots to kill large groups of opponents - which ultimately results in me getting tbagged into eternity when people finally got to me through my thick layer of Telesto mines, but that's okay. I deserved it. The reason people aren't using it, is because it's a scumbag weapon. It's a weapon you put on once in a while for the shits and giggles, when you just want easy kills. In my opinion they can actually leave it as it is, and instead buff the rest of the fusion rifles, seeing as Erentil is the only viable option at the moment.
