Scouts are very far away from competitive choices in PvP right now.
Trust can fire just about as far as most pulses, Ace of Spades and Bygones are running rampant. With Polaris Lance bug, Jade Rabbit time to kill being to slow to fight against pulses right now, and MIDA kicking all over the place...
Can we revamp scout rifles damage and play for PvP a bit?
EDIT:: Just saw the post that they are looking into 150RPM scouts firing slower than intended - that's awesome for the #scoutriflegang here, but I agree with many in the comments, scouts need to be more range dominant (especially speaking about pulse rifles) to make them more viable.

15 RepliesThe issue is pulse rifle range. Pulse rifles need a massive reduction in range so Scouts can be a pseudo-sniper option from range. Pulse rifles are just too good right now.
-
2 RepliesDamage is fine, it is the respective ranges of other classes that is an issue. That and the lack of maps with long enough sight lines to validate the use of a scout over pulse.
-
2 RepliesI would like to start using jade rabbit with the catalyst that I worked so hard for again.....
-
5 RepliesI tried mine in pve after the buff then put them right back in the vault. I rarely use them in pvp so never even tried them in pvp for a while. Bungie has sadly always had a hard on for pulse rifles and want them to be the best thing around for some really strange reason. Destiny is literally the only game I have ever used a pulse rifle in and I almost feel like I have to use one to compete at all in crucible.

And the issue with Bygones and Ace, they both have high cals, so your recoil goes all over if they get a few shots on you first.
-
I've been doing pretty well with Jade Rabbit the last few days - and Distant Relation with the right roll can be pretty devastating three tap kill with crits - and the gun seems to get them for you TBH. Scouts are okay at the minute as long as they're not uses like an auto rifle.

12 RepliesScouts are weak across the board.. There is also not enough of them. I used to use scouts all the time in D1. Loved my hung jury with the original vendor roll.. have not found any to match it in D2.. The nameless midnight is boring, and the model is ugly. There are no omolon kinetic scouts, and none were brought forward even for the energy slot. We need some good scouts again..

8 RepliesScout rifles ruled in the early seasons of Destiny. Bungie doesn't feel they need a comeback yet. There is no balance in this game. There is only what Bungie wants to see used more and that's what they balance towards. Right now it just happens to be hand canons and pulse rifles. Maybe next season we will see scouts come back. Maybe assault rifles. Only Bungie knows what they feel like seeing each season.

1 ReplyI find scouts to be underwhelming in pve as well.
-
1 ReplyIs that really it or is it the design of the encounters in the game now? I now see you are talking pvp which is something they didn't touch. In PVP they have set up scouts to fail. There are only two maps that a scout can work well on. That alone rings the alarm bells to me. Add that to the TTK and ease of use of the pulse rifles and they are dead.
-
3 RepliesThe only reason you want to use a scout is so you can sit in the back of the map like an idiot
-
Wait there are other weapons aside from bygones? I haven't been killed by any other weapon aside from that, heavy or a shotgun in weeks.
-
Its because they make Bow. The Bow competing with Scout. And I think they use Scout Riffle's programming subroutine to make Bow. That's why Scout get screwed. And again...Bungie only focus in the new thingy and nerf the old thingy.
-
5 RepliesNot a fan of PvP but it's the same in PvE. Scouts were my go to in yr 1. I don't believe they buffed them at all last week. Fifteen percent my arse. They feel exactly the same...weak. They're redundant in yr 2.
-
so what if a weapon type doesn't work well in PVP. there are plenty of others to choose from. you don't see many people using duel pistols in counterstrike unless its for a joke.
-
Indeed. I remember One-Shotting Acolytes with my Conspirator before Forsaken. Now I have to shoot twice what the actual -blam!-.
-
ace of spades is nothing special in pvp, because of this lack of argument go ahead and /thread
-
They actually received a nerf again, because reddit users compared damage numbers before and after their buff. Bungie, please, just remove them if you aren't ever going to make them viable across the board.
-
Yes, Scout Rifles are still too weak to be viable. I find very little use for any of them. I've tried. It's a very niche weapon. It works pretty good in PvP Equinox Map, but few others. I used it Gambit to fight Invaders at long range, but it's only marginally effective. It's no match for the Sleeper or a competent sniper.

In my opinion scout rifles should have the same high damage as hand cannons, but have mechanics built into them that limit their performance at close and mid range, such as making aim assist on scout rifles work at range but not at all up close. Or it might not make any logical sense, but make the scout rifle’s damage at range work the opposite of a handcannon’s. The closer you are to target the less damage it does, but the further you are up to a certain distance the more it does.

2 RepliesThe buff was for PvE only, and yea, it wasn't enough. As for PvP, Jade Rabbit is meant for long range, and I mean LONG range. It is not meant to compete against pulse rifles or hand cannons. High impact scout rifles are meant to be used similar to sniper rifles. Mida and Nameless Midnight are pretty good just past medium range against pulse rifles.
-
Wow, I disn’t realise they even buffed scouts. I guess the buff was negligable.
-
I agree scouts are still not worth using
-
I also made a post about this today. I thought the patch for scouts was today so got excited and grabbed all my scouts. Turns out they didn’t do duck and it was the patch before. Not that it made a difference then either!

If ace had the recoil it did, people would be crying more than they are for the nerf police to come. Another reason why you see ace so much is because it's probably one of the easiest quest Forsaken exotics to get. If ace was literally any other weapon, you'd see that weapon because of ease of availability.

2 RepliesEdited by msqar: 10/30/2018 3:18:12 PMWhy need scouts when pulse rifles are the easiest weapons to do kills with... it's literally for dummies.. just stay on the edge of the map, behind your whole team, playing passive, and stealing kills... 2-burst to the head kills, easy peasy bro. That's what PvP is nowadays... pure pulse rifle passive teamshooting teams, boring af. And anyone can use a pulse rifle, requires no skill at all XD
