Replace Weapon Telemetry with Mod Components

Weapon telemetry seems quite pointless due to how much you need in order to rank up with Banshee and since gunsmith materials are easier to get and are ideal for ranking up, why do we need Weapon Telemetry? Would it be better to replace it with mod components? Because the Source of finding or getting Mod Components is impossible at this time. • Seriously a brilliant idea. I get 5-10 of these a week n that seems like a perfect economy for mod components. Hope they listen.

Just get rid of Telemetry FFS. .... or give more slots to fill this useless crap with and those rubbish things that give more telemetry over four hours. So basically there could be five sections called "Consumables", "Inventory", "Mods", "Shaders" and "Useless -blam!-ing Crap that noone will ever use as it's -blam!-ing pointless!"

  • At first I wasnt really paying attention to the mod economy. I had a decent amount of components from dismantling all my old mods. Well or so I thought. I dismantled probably over a 100 mods to be able to get what. 10 mods in this new system. Mods can be rare, mods can be hard to get. I'm fine with that. But the current system sucks. Banshee should reward a few components with each rank up. Also I should be able to get more components back than 1 for dismantling an old mod. I should get atleast 5. Then I can dismantle 2 mods I'll never use to get a new one. Mods do drop in the wild, but it sucks. As rare as mods are. Why cant I just remove it from a weapon without dismantling said weapon. Also as rare as they are. I should be able to swap out mods without loosing the one swapped out. TLDR: Its fine if mods are rare, but the system around components needs work.

  • I def have no idea how we are supposed to get any amount of mod components worth using in this game. I think the only reason there hasn't been more outcry about this was people were sitting on a stockpile of them early on, but now people are running out. I play a LOT and have gotten maybe ten since Forsaken dropped?

    • Farm planet material using legendary shards from Spider. Use those planet mats for packages or year 1 items. These items, when dismantled, have a chance to drop mod components. This is also the only way you can reliably farm for masterwork cores. The only issue is the time it takes to buy the mats......1 shard at a time is ridiculous.

      •
Replace Weapon Telemetry with Mod Components
A great idea. Considering the telemetries are completely pointless, and the mod economy is bone-dry, this would be a good solution all around. We can also update the ghosts which cause the telemetries to drop, and give them a buff to mod component drops instead. I also like the idea of telemetries being used to re-roll perks.

or maybe Weapon Telemetry is used to re-roll one perk on a gun the amount of weapon parts it takes to get a drop from banshee** is ridiculous and if they dont change it; we should get mod components as well as a gun and then getting to a certain rank(s) gives master work cores and more mod components or weapon telemetry (using my idea of using them to re-roll a perk) Banshee needs a buff edit; maybe i should be more clear on what i meant. you can only do it once and in only one slot. after that it locks.

        • Totally agree. Weapon Telemetries are useless and Mod Components are not dropping from new sources. I have no idea how new players with no Y1 gear to dismantle get ANY mod components I think Mod Components will be the next thing Bungie has to review and conclude they are not dropping as expected

          • I love that consumable that gives you a small chance of getting a weapon telemetry on precision kills... If you're lucky you get one or two and they do absolutely nothing. I love the mod components idea. I'm starting get sick of the whole mod thing... It's taking too long to get what I want. Applying mods should be a thoughtful thing but I think it's a bit too much at the moment.

          • Hey, crazy idea. What if we could still cash in telemetries for standing, OR. We can use them as a currency to buy weapon mod parts? or spend even more to obtain a random mod. Also we should be getting way more telemetries and or telemetries should be worth much more standing.

          • I've wondered what the point of Weapon Telemetry was since Destiny 2 launched. It has never really given big boost like the rare versions of planetary materials before they removed those (I mean really, did you have to remove those? total slap in face of the player base.) With Weapon Telemetry being basically equal 1-to-1 of a Gunsmith material is pointless since most are swimming in some amount of Gunsmith materials far beyond the paltry reward of Telemetries acquired over same span of time. Someone further down mentioned Masterwork cores on top of mod components are horrendously under provided in game, the chance of 1 Masterwork core dropping from the consumable that is so rare to get is appalling. And only for 1 core. 1 Core is not a -blam!-ing goddamn exotic reward like from the 3-of-Coins that you removed. The consumable for Masterwork chances should drop more, reward more often, and should be for a 4 hour period like every other Glimmer, Telemetry, and Fireteam Token thingy. Telemetry maybe should be used for Mod Components, and for Masterwork cores. Or just -blam!-ing remove Telemetry from Destiny 2 since you half assed implemented it as some stupid material.

We should cash in telemetries for mod components or materials. With how little they give in standing, and how much you can get without noticing, they might as well be used for something useful. Maybe they could replace those for the infusion cost rather than masterworks. At least then I'll know where to get them.

          • here's an idea they should do, since there are ghost perks that increase chances of weapon telemetry dropping, bungie should have that as infusion materials instead of masterwork cores, or whatever their name will be. weapon telemetry's are useless, so they should give telemetries that work for specific elements, and increase the drop rate by alot more then what it is now. that way the telemetries would be more useful and they wouldn't have to do anything to masterwork cores.

          • I mean... the description says they are used to modify weapons. What if they let us modify our weapon’s Magazine options, Ballistics/Scopes/Sights, and Masterwork stats with them? I’d grind out enough to give my near perfect rolls my favorite scopes and magazine options; to give them a stamp of investment attachment. The only conflict with being used for mod components is that they don’t record armor “performance data that could prove useful in modifying armor”.

          • Not a bad idea. Especially since it takes, what, like 500 Telemetries to level up a Gunsmith Rank? +1
