The biggest slap the in the face is TWAB. I don't want a -BLAM-ing blog about how your week went, or what you want to say to the community, or even what you're working on. The live game is all that matters and right now, frankly, it sucks. Progression for the new dlc was finished within a week, even for casuals. Adding emblems after the fact isn't going to make people care about old content again.
Side rant: this forum needs to stfu about bungie catering to "casuals." Sure, they simplified the grind, but casuals aren't interested in any sort of grind to begin with.
LSS: Fire some PR people and hire some programmers to fix your game.

Side rant: this forum needs to stfu about bungie catering to "casuals." Sure, they simplified the grind, but casuals aren't interested in any sort of grind to begin with.
What you don't seem to realize is that games nowadays need both short and long term players to survive. While casuals drive launch sales, hobbyists drive future sales such as season passes, DLC, map packs, and MTXs. So a well balanced game will offer something for short and long term players. Destiny 2 falls quite short for the vast majority of long term players.
Side rant: this forum needs to stfu about bungie catering to "casuals." Sure, they simplified the grind, but casuals aren't interested in any sort of grind to begin with.
That's exactly the point. Casuals don't play games like this. Certainly not for long. So never ever pander to them. But guess what D2 did? Man, the subclass menu in particular is downright offensive. Does bungie really think people were too stupid to understand and pick abilities from a matrix-layout? Anyone should feel insulted by a reduction this ridiculous.
-
But they did cater to casuals. Problem was, they had a BIG misconception on what casuals were. They merely assumed folks that were too stupid to understand the game’s mechanics. In truth, they can get the mechanics, if explained in a intuitive manner. They just don’t have a lot of time to invest into and play the game. Bungie still wants to play the mysterious and coy schtick, which might have worked for Halo with its many Easter eggs, but isn’t working here. So they decide to dumb things down, which isn’t working for anyone but their sandbox team.

Hmmm PC elitist telling us to stfu I’ll agree with the PR statement but I’ll also like to add, stfu yourself seeing as your new to the series you have no idea just how simplified this game has become and just how ‘casual’ it is now that’s it’s devoid of ‘any’ grind! Take your elitist self back to whence you came, as all I see is an arrogant pled wanting some limelight on what they ‘think’ is right! Don’t wave the finger at those that have been following Destiny for years, soft lad!

Edited by Deception.exe: 3/4/2018 2:25:21 PMI’ve played it on the Xbox 360 before. But didn’t complete it. I still have a PS4 but play mostly on PC, because I don’t like the subscription fee you have to pay on the platform for PS.

21 RepliesIf you didn't play D1, you likely don't know that most D1 DLC took most of an afternoon. If you add the Raid, maybe a day or two to grind for leveled gear and a couple hours to run it. Rumours of Destiny 1's greatness are highly exaggerated around here (from a bunch of people who liked it a lot less at the time...but hey, bandwagons are fun to jump on). I started this account (my fifth) 2 months before D2 dropped, maxed 3 characters, re-rolled one of them for funsies, did everything but the Raids (and Trials) and got ~90% of all available gear (missing a few Exotics, I believe) in about two weeks per character after work, including multiple "god rolls" of the one gun I ever actually used. Nightfalls, Exotic Sword quests, all the optional quests, and did it all solo. It was fun, and I enjoyed D1, but outside of "the grind" it was just a game with, tops, a couple hundred hours of "real" content spread out over 3 years. Timed releases, Light caps, all that stuff drew out playability, but the hardcores could pretty well wrap up a DLC 24 hours after launch, and even most casuals couldn't stretch it out more than a week or two. (In Year 1, there were some time-gated mechanics that capped weekly progression, if you count that.) I'm in the minority around here, but I'm enjoying D2 as much as I ever enjoyed D1. The lack of a random roll mechanic for weapons means I already have good guns (after plenty of work - there are a LOT) that I get to use when I play, rather than spending my nights getting bad roll after bad roll of a gun that should be better. For my preference, I would rather have a lot of guns with set builds than a few guns with randomized perks and stats - but that's just my opinion. I spend most of my time in non-endgame PvE, and I haven't gotten bored yet - I like shooting stuff with cool guns, Destiny 2 accomplishes that. Job done. If you think the game sucks, it's not likely to get any better - and if you've been reading the forums, they'll give you a thousand opinions agreeing with that sentiment. The hardcores in D1 managed to stretch ~200 hours into 5,000+ hours of playtime, whatever their justifications - they don't see D2 as providing that possibility, so they feel "cheated" by the couple hundred hours they actually got and want the game and Bungie to fail as as result. Cheery audience, that. I paid for, received, and am enjoying exactly what I expected - a fun FPS that sometimes pretends to be an RPG, with more weapon variety than D1 had, more things to do with those weapons, and the potential to expand. If it doesn't, I got my money's worth - if it does, bonus. Just a second perspective, since you won't find many who feel that way around here. :)

2 RepliesIs it bad that Defiance 2050 is getting me excited? I feel for you as I am in the same boat.
-
Some good advice. Too bad it falls on ears that are either deaf or have no decision making power.
-
BS. Casuals love grind.
-
They made this game with a 4-years-old girl in mind, and it shows. We all have a right to complain.

2 RepliesEdited by CA$EMAN76: 3/3/2018 2:30:19 AMBro you'd have loved D1 bro...Talk about a ULTRA CHALLENGING game...You couldn't wait to get home from work/school to try and get a Gallajhorn/Hawkmoon/Last word/Mida Multi tool - LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON-And i mean you had to spend TIME to get RNG to GIFT YOU A GOD WEAPON..The entire community had no idea how to complete the raid i mean HOURS LONG SESSIONS WIPING AND WIPING.. Saving checkpoint and trying again tomorrow...Just to get ONE PIECE of armor..Raid gear that was the strongest weapons in the game!! Bro weapons that were truly EXOTIC.. Felt, looked and dominated Exotic. But to use one there was actually Trade off - (depending on play style) and you had to invest time and energy and making new friends to raid with cuz your friends absolutely couldn't wait for you to get off work to run...The absolute SATISFACTION of finally beating the Raid boss- after 40 attempts and getting the amazing exotic weapon . And the SATISFACTION of being one of the only people with that exotic for a couple weeks. Bro- this is why everybody's pissed. Destiny used to be GODLY. Quite frankly it's ehhh. I just feel let down.

I agree with this post on the grounds that I would rather get a weekly bugfix/update log over a biography.

This, D2 was created for "casuals" Is a straight out lie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZXABh6M8BA&feature=youtu.be

In response to ur issue with twab- keep in mind there are lots of people complaining about wanting more communication and openness : this is why we get these post every week I understand that many find them useless, probably because they're not happy with the news but it is what it is
-
12 RepliesYou would've loved D1. It was hyper addictive. I played around 5,500-6,000 hours. D2 isn't all bad. I enjoy it. There's plenty to do. Most just haven't figured it out yet.

Edited by devil in clogs: 3/3/2018 2:56:10 PM
LSS: Fire some PR people and hire some programmers to fix your game.
This. All hype and little to back it up. Like a joke with no punchline. What saddens me is that there is a lot of stuff in this game that could be replayable with modifiers and scoring etc, but it's just not put to use :/ There are possible rpg elements too that aren't touched on at all.
-
You're better off on CS:GO. D2 made my consoles go back to being paper weights. Lol
-
I always find it pretty interesting and made it my thursday ritual to read it.
-
2 RepliesYour side rant is exactly ehat Bungree does not understand. They need to focus on us. The people who play a lot. And then everything will come together. But honestly, D2 was probably made in such a short time its a miracle it was made at all. I hope D3 is well liked

2 Repliesstopped reading at "PC." came here to fart.
#prrt.
-
no it was created for casuals. the massive aim assist on everything proves this. it's barely like even playing a shooter
-
Well you said it...this game sucks. If they don't talk about their week, or say hi to the community, what else are they going to talk about? lol
-
Hahaha did they change the boilerplate “we moved your shit to feedback” note?

10 RepliesYou need to stfu about your opinions

Everything will be ready when it is ready-Bungie)
