We kill the Conductive Mind for our "own source of Arc."
Or will there be another plot hole?

1 ReplyThey have access to arc the same as any subclass has access to their ability, but without light they can't use any abilities bc all are based around light.
-
1 ReplySo why are we back to two subclasses again?

We kill the Conductive Mind for our "own source of Arc."
*Canonically, Warlocks should have access to an Arc Subclass in D2.* Fixed it.

1 ReplyWhat if stormcaller warlocks had access to a canon.

Well according to the Grimoire cards all three types of light are fundamental forces of the universe so our source of power can come from anywhere. The prupose of the travelers light is that it gives us the ability to use those forces in supernatural ways, it's just difficult for each class to harness certain forces for different reasons. For Warlocks the hardest light to use is solar because in the Sunsinger quest here are few that can feel the force of sol and fewer who can sing it's song. There are few Hunter Nightstalkers because according to Tevis in order to use the void you must have no fear. As for Titans to my knowledge it has not been stated which force is hard to use just that Sunbreakers are not around because the techniques to use them left the city.

9 RepliesStormcallers, just as Sunbreakers and Nightstalkers, all require the Traveller's Light. A Stormcaller uses their Light to create Arc Light just as a Striker uses their Light to create Arc Light. Arc Light, Solar Light, and Void Light are just differing types of the Light that we channel. As Toland says it is Light seen through a prism.

I sort-of agree that the third subclasses should be unlocked for Destiny 2, because I was under the impression that it would be our character from the first game.

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 7/28/2017 10:24:21 AMA lot of people think that. The answer is the Ghost. Like the worm larvae of the Hive give them immortality and paracausal powers, our Ghost is what lets us tap into the Light of the Traveler. No Traveler no Light. No Ghost no Light. Guardians with a dead Ghost have Light inside of them but it fades and when it's gone they are normalish people. All powers relate to a basic energy of the cosmos. Regardless of how people learn to tap into new powers all Gurdians trace their connection to these powers by their link to the Traveler. Lose the link lose the power.
-
2 RepliesDarling, regardless of how you learn the subclass, it all comes from the traveller.

4 RepliesEdited by aboniks: 7/26/2017 6:27:28 PMI'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they probably just won't bother to explain the stuff they retcon. They never really tied to explain any of the original game mechanics through the story until it came time to introduce new subclasses. Like: "Hey y'all can obviously time travel at will to relive these missions whenever you want but we're never ever going to discuss that even though time travel is a central feature of the plot in several areas." If they're as focused on 'simplifying' as they seem to be, then they're unlikely to get fancy about narrative justifications for anything. They mostly just do stuff.

We kill the Conductive Mind for our "own source of Arc." Or will there be another plot hole?
Edit: it's simply poor continuity. The light Gaul cuts us off of is only that of the traveler. Sunbreakers, stormcallers, and Nightstalkers are independent of the traveler. Canonically, we should still have them. Just saying.

I think eventually we will have all 3 sunglasses. I think we start with 2 only because its going to take time to fully upgrade these 2 and since we have new or updated subclasses we will have to learn them. It gives us time to learn a little instead of feeling overwhelmed like omg I have to learn 3 subclasses (or 9 total) 6 is easier than 9. Also maybe we do start with 3 subclasses per class and they want it to be a surprise just like a lot of other unknown things in the game.
-
1 ReplyIt seems safe to assume that d2 will not have all three at start but how cool would it be if they were like by the way here are the other subclasses and all this other stuff? I think the big problem with the D1 launch was is they pretty much showed everything in the beta and people were expecting a ton more content at launch and were severely disappointed. Maybe they will flip the script this time.

I guess you missed the part where we lost our light?
-
Emperor Palpatine is dead, sorry. Without the Emperor we lost our only source of Force Lightning.

1 ReplyIf we don't have access to all 3 subclasses from the full release of Destiny 2, before expansions, it just goes to show what a mess of things this "sequel" is. There's no reason for us to not have our 3 subclasses back right now. It's still our guardian, the story continues to progress through the Oryx story. But they ha vent shown any hint of a third subclass in game yet. Which is more than worrisome. Hiding it behind some paywall, again, deserves a lot of hate from fans. Destiny 2 is a shrunken down version of Destiny 1 in a lot of ways. The lack of our 3rd Subclass doesn't alleviate any hate this game is getting. And only makes it more justifiable.
-
2 RepliesIf you watched your guardian's hand in the beta, you could see all 3 versions of light in their hand when selecting your weapons/armor. I'd say that we're gonna have all 3 at some point.
-
5 RepliesSorry but they all need light. But agian they havnt said a flat out no on them returning. Bugie atleast says flat no on stuff. They may be at release or first dlc
-
Presumably, the stemmed flow of light makes something like stormtrance impractical/impossible. Same goes for each super, which is why we have diminished versions
-
It's still activated from the light of the traveler
-
Um we lose our light? We have to basically restart our abilities... but there are hints all 3 sub classes will be in D2. It is already confirmed there is MORE CUTSCENES (As they have said, the story will be in the game, no more grimoire) in D2 vanilla game, then in the entire 3 years of D1 all together. So that info alone plus the other content shown in the IGN exclusive videos, it is probably going to be in there somewhere. But even then, do not get your hopes up for all 3 sub-classes...
