For people who help others through the raid

What are things that you look for when deciding what teams to help? What are things that annoy you? What are things that you like to see in raid teams you opt to help? I've seen a lot of people complaining about others not willing to help, I've always been of the mindset that the person has the choice of if they want to help. My goal of this post is to get a conversation going so people who are looking for help can see what players are looking for as they decide to help others. ***This is not meant as an advisement to carry*** ***If you disagree with something posted its okay, just keep it respectful***

  • We took a 351 through last and she did awesome. Its all how you talk to ppl. The way i look at it everyone was once new to the raid. There is no need to judge anyone or tell them they arent raid ready. I am happy to help anyone through the raid. If it takes 3 hours at least it will be done and they will have a complete understanding. Im on xbox one for anyone who needs help id be more then happy

  • I always rely on LFG for every raid I've done. I don't mind if someone needs to learn something because I was there once too. What do not like? I hate when I get into a group and of course the post says "know what to do, we want to get this done fast" and then we drop into the raid and of course someone needs to leave for some mundane reason. Leaving us there waiting. I don't get why someone asks for a quick run only to have everyone in the fireteam running off after every boss to do dishes or walk the dog. Wtf! Also, and this is a new rule for me, if there's anyone that is obviously 16 or less, I'm leaving. These kids are the rudest punks in the community with the worst mouths I've ever heard. And they're also real tough while sitting safety in their mommy's house. What I wouldn't give to be able to find this one specific Brat I played with last week...

  • I don't do helps, me and a couple buddies just find 3 more on LFG. All you need is people that don't get loud and/or rage. Any kid is a no-no. I know there are chill ones out there but the majority are scum and I hate them on a personal level. There only needs to be one chief. 2 or more chiefs doesn't work. When I run I just want to play with cool people, whether we beat it that run or not. If you are scum and come in swinging I'm swinging harder and one way or another I will shut you up.

  • People that listen rather than say "I saw it done differently on YouTube" etc. That's nice, go and raid with the YouTuber then. People that can remain calm and not lose it when someone else stuffs up, sometimes for the 10th time. You try being gaze holder then. People that own their mistakes, admit to it, and realise what they did wrong. Then try to do it different. People that actually have time to do the raid, not have to leave every ten minutes for whatever reason. Life happens, but don't try to raid when you're babysitting a tribe of three year olds. People that will try to do the hard parts - relic, sword, gaze, etc. There is no point being the passenger, because eventually you will hear the dreaded, deafening silence that gives rookies nightmares - I'm talking about what comes after asking the question "Who can take gaze/relic/sword/etc?"

    • I'll help people who haven't done it and are pretty chill. Prefer NOT to deal with kiddies who like to shout at each other. No try-hards. Casual players. You don't NEED to know what to do as we/I will walk you through step-by-step. Just know that having your Light Level be at least 365 or 380 (Normal or HM) is ideal. I don't mind if there are 1 or 2 that aren't. DON'T BE AN ASS!
-QA Test Engineer (a.k.a. AR IS4 NUBS)
• To be honest, I'd be grateful to any sherpa's that would guide through the raids. Want to get light level up first, but have not done a single one yet.

        • I don't mind teaching a newer raider the mechanics. That doesn't bother me one bit. In fact I rather enjoy it. Helping someone out for their first time? Awesome. Hopefully they enjoy themselves. What annoys me is a lack of effort. Like a "carry me" mentality. Not doing much during the encounters. Always dying. Not paying attention. Disregarding the directions I very clearly just gave. That sort of thing annoys me the most. I get it, some people aren't as skilled at other players. I am also aware of the fact that it takes some time to get used to something new like a raid mechanic. Timing. Stuff like that. There is a clear difference between trying to learn and just being a slacker "carry me" type raider.

          • I like to raid with others on my same level of experience. We almost finished the raid on normal on Tuesday. we just need to practice some more on the final boss to get it right.

I used to Sherpa for kings fall and here are the things I look for. 1. Time and patience 2. Respectfulness to other players 3. Able to listen and follow directions 4. No rage quitting 5. Communication 6. Meet the minimum light level requirement. I remembered sherpaing 5 new players through normal kings fall, and it took us literally 14 hours. We started Saturday and called it a night and finished it Sunday. It was brutal. Since then I told myself I will never try to carry five new players through a raid. But their excitement after beating a boss was an experienced I will never forget.

              • Bungie needs to add match play to the raids. Most people want to raid with a core group of experienced raiders and I get that but that leaves me sol. I have been trying to get in a raid for two weeks and it took me having a meltdown in a lfg to finaly get help. I had left my old clan because only six core guys get to raid. I know matchmaking is not ideal but for some it may at least help get them in the raid to learn how to do it since nobody wants to help others get it done.

any sherpas willing to help me out later this week on the ps4. I've completed the raid once ( have the siva emblem ) just looking for more gear. My mic isn't the best I can barely hear people in party chat but I do have the gist of what to do. 386 warlock this is for normal btw don't want the pressure of hard mode just yet

                • It annoys me when people want a carry through Heroic mode so much that they expect me to waste 2 hours (if I'm lucky) of my life... ...while they refuse to watch a 6 minute video from Byf explaining boss fight mechanics. If you want a carry, don't come into the raid completely lost.

                  • I did about 12 WotM as a sherpa so far. The only thing I ask is that you have a mic, be 360+LL and that it's actually your first time in the raid(cuz you know, it's not really a sherpa run if everyone knows what's going on...) Nothing really annoys me in begginer groups. People who get annoyed just need to lower their expectations. You're playing with begginers that see everything for the first time after all. Not experienced.

                    • I have no problem helping somebody out in the raid if I have the time. I've put in lfg to find people who were experienced and wanted a nice quick run and sometimes people are randomly like oh I haven't done this before and I usually ask if they had read the post right before I kick them.

                    • I help when and where I can, but time is an issue for me (why I can't run 100 ToO matches every weekend...more like 20ish), so I limit who I help to anyone within in my network of friends. This includes anyone who isn't on my F-List but is a friend of someone who is....who is typically added shortly thereafter.

                    • I look for the group that needs the most help, and I make sure to stick with them regardless of how long it takes, or how much help they need (assuming real life commitments don't get in the way). The most annoying thing is honestly when people blatantly ignore their responsibilities, or aren't paying attention and because of that they don't do what they are responsible for. For example, if someone is supposed to be the bomb thrower and they are nowhere near their bomb for the whole time it's there, and they don't even move towards it, even while people are saying "Someone get the bomb on right!"

                    • I can barley stand to raid with my friends because they have to be carried. most of it is common sense jumping movement playing smart and being aware of your surroundings. As far as it goes with this new raid. There's always that one guy that one guy who u just look at and say how.....

                    • I just like honesty. If it's your first time through a raid or encounter say so so I know who to put where and what area needs more support. That and some common decency through the team. Yelling at people gets no where lol

                      • I always put up posts for first time completions, basically I am looking for the people who others refuse to play with so I can try getting them through. I did it a lot more back in the days where gally was required by fireteams which was stupid to me and when people started trying to charge for completions which I saw as a cancer in the community.

                      • It's gotten harder to help/carry people thru the raid. All players need to carry their own weight. The new raids aren't like Crota where all you needed was one good Swordbearer and 5 scrubs standing on a ledge shooting rockets.

Now I'm the one needing help, I waited to do wotm after hard mode came out and now I can't find a team to do normal with cause I haven't done it yet lol will no one show a 394 warlock the ropes in normal so I can unlock hard mode on PS4

                          • Honesty and maturity. I don't care how old you are or what your skill level is. If it's your first raid, just say so. I don't care, I don't mind showing the ropes. Just don't be rude, listen to me when I tell you what to do for each encounter, and don't obsessively talk or scream. Then of course there is light level. I'm willing to take lower light levels within reason. For normal raid, it could be a bit lower, 350+ for entrance, 360+ if you intend on killing Aksis. As for hard raid, due to the restrictions of no reviving, I would say 380+ in general

I haven't done this raid too many times so not sherpa-ing yet. But did oryx a couple hundred times. The only thing that annoys me is the person that has beaten it like 5 or 10 times arguing with me on every level. If you know what you are doing, why do you need me to help out? To me it's like getting a tutor and arguing the whole session. Makes no sense.
