How to Fix the Sunsinger and its Trash Gameplay.

[spoiler]I am a titan main but have a fair amount of time spent on my Warlock still and have tested many of the June update changes. If I got something wrong though, then please let me know.[/spoiler] As it stands right now, the Sunsinger is a pretty underwhelming subclass. The real only saving graces are Flame Shield and Fusion Grenades. There are a few issues with the subclass as a whole and I will propose a few ways to fix them. Radiance, Viking Funeral, The Grenades, The Melee, and Angel of Light. Radiance: This super is pretty underwhelming because it doesn't really do much to inhance your actual abilities. Most supers grant a powerful ability that allows you to one hit kill enemies or kill them very quickly. Sunsinger really only lets you spam grenades. Now while this may be a fun feature, it doesn't really do much when the majority of the grenades are very underwhelming. How do we fix this? My proposal would be to increase the effectiveness of these grenades. Maybe doing things like increasing duration and damage for Solar grenades, bringing Firebolts to their original Viking Funeral Touch of Flame values of pre-June update, and giving Fusion grenades more magnetism/tracking. Maybe even replace this with another perk on the skilltree like Sunburst since that perk is barely used. But to compensate for this, the amount of grenades that are throw may be reduced so that Sunsingers can't just spam overpowered grenades everywhere. Viking Funeral: I get how Bungie wanted Viking Funeral to work overall, but in practice, it is a pretty garbage perk that is pretty ineffective. The perk should function more like other damage dealing perks like Melting Point and Tether, where the damage buff actually lasts long enough to be able to pump out a considerable amount of damage. 5 seconds sounds reasonable to me. Another thing to do would be to scale the damage boost up from 5% per stack to 10% to 15% per stack to actually give a noticable increase to damage. The Grenades: The Solar grenade and Firebolt grenade are both pretty trash grenades now. Solar grenade is bugged and does very little damage at times and Firebolt grenade has gotten nerfed so badly that it is extremely easy to avoid and does negligible damage. The way to fix these issues would be to fix the bug with Solar grenades obviously and either bring Firebolts to their previous arming time/tracking length or increase the damage to compensate for those penalties. I would actually even be fine if Viking Funeral was brought to its original status if the tracking length/arming time was at what it is currently. The Melee: The overall problem of the melee is that Solar Wind and Brimstone are trash perks when compared to Flameshield. Now I know that they can still be used effectively, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are good perks. Solar Wind should get a noticable increase in the length that it pushes enemies away, and Brimstone should function more like Combustion on Golden Gun, Bloom on Voidwalkers or Explosive Pyre on Sunbreakers. All of those perks are actually noticable on their specific subclasses while on Sunsinger, for the most part, it is not. Angel of Light: This is a pretty underrated perk and always has been. There are a couple of factors for why this is. The flaming wings that ot shows, exposes you more than you already are, and it only lasts for a very limited amount of time. The flaming wings should be removed IMO even though they may look cool and this is arguable, but the abilty to remain in the air should be increased by 1-2 seconds. All or most of these changes should be included to make the Sunsinger a more viable subclass again, because as it stands, it is pretty underwhelming.

  • I'm not sure how one could tell this but I haven't played my sunsinger since the nerf.. well I played with it about 5 games and was like NOPE. Storm caller here I am. Even in trials the revive is trash if you can't fire bolt like before. There melees from radiance aren't 1 hit kill if you have a over shield from being revived. It's a big mess. I ONLY play sss when I'm raiding, and even then I'm good enough to hardly ever die so I just use SC. Agree with OP. Need to change this class to make them used in pvp more. Only classes I see are striker titans and hunters of all kinds.

    • It's a support, it's not meant to get one shot kills. As of right now, Sunsinger is completely balanced. Take that from someone who actually plays all three classes on a daily basis.

      • Sun singer is balanced right now. The game is in the best place it's ever been. Stop crying cuz you can't kill everyone with one Grenade and one bullet. Try using a primary. Git Gud scrub.

        • I used to main storm caller, but now I main sun singer with fusion grenades, praxic Fire, and Angel of light (perfect for hand cannons). The melees are trash, and fusion grenades are the only ones worth using. Touch and funeral I don't even touch for pve. Trash. I'd say the warlock needs a buff honestly, in most classes except caller. Caller's melee with impulse and super is the only saving grace for it though. Hunters and Titans both have pvp instakill grenades in more than one class, while warlock only has one period, and that's on sun singer. Striker is ridiculous period. Blade dancer's skip grenades have op as heck tracking... Balance needs to be made, and I agree with everything op has stated.

        • Rework Viking Funeral again, I notice no difference in damage after tagging an enemy with ignite. Viking Funeral needs to burn, but not quite as long as it used to. Also, the delay on the flame shield is absolutely ridiculous, if No Backup Plans provide Force Barrier without a delay then Flame shield should be the same. Everyone cries about everything, but be serious, sunsinger has a super consisting of decreased ability cooldowns, not a panic smash, or a tether that leaves you a sitting duck.

        • If it's supposed to be a support Subclass (which is everyone's rebuttal to anyone complaining about it now being utterly underpowered), then it should be redesigned to reflect that. --Solar Grenades need to be brought up to Vortex Grenade strength --Sunburst needs to do more than just granting an Orb of Light on Scorch kills; something along the lines of increasing the size of the explosion caused by Solar Grenade, Brimstone, and Fusion Grenade --Brimstone needs an increase in the explosive radius on kill, or the ability to blind/disorient nearby enemies with the explosion --Solar Wind needs a drastic increase to its knock-back effect (something like [url=https://45.media.tumblr.com/ebf76273ee429da3f722c280e01e3094/tumblr_nzdyx0s2Ih1tslewgo1_500.gif]this[/url]), and possibly the ability to push several nearby enemies at once --Viking Funeral's Debuff effect needs to be 10% per stack, or 20% and no stack, for 5-7 seconds --Song of Flame should grant a 10-15% damage increase to you and your allies' abilities in addition to speeding up their cooldowns --Radiant Skin should grant increased armor to your allies while granting increased damage resistance to yourself --Flame Shield should be a solar projectile that creates a ring of fire wherever it's thrown. You or your allies standing in it gain an overshield. Enemies are damaged by it. It'll be similar to a Sunbreaker standing in a Sunspot with the Fire Keeper perk active. --Radiant Will should allow Radiance to charge faster while allies are nearby, similar to Electrostatic Mind, and increase the effects of Radiant Skin and Song of Flame on allies. Flame Shield's ring of fire lasts longer.

          • There was never a problem with sunsinger it was like that for almost 2 years. there however was a problem with players skill dealing with sunsinger. The little babies did not like damage over time. Im using a sunbreaker and not only is its super better then sunsinger it has better grenades. Incendiary grenades are so powerful and effective compared to firebolt. hell incendiary grenades are just as good as old firebolt and viking funeral was in my opinion. Give sunsinger incendiary grenades to replace firebolts. make them just as powerful as sunbreakers. i can toss incendiary grenades into a crowd and kill two maybe 3 guardians with my hand cannon after they are damaged by the grenade. I hear titans complain there grenades are not good. bull crap they have alot better grenades then sunsinger. I even like there grenades better then hunters also. until this problem is solved giving sunsingers incendiary grenades is a good start!!! get rid of firebolt.

                • It's just that firebolt grenades were actually just too good. Did over 160 damage. Kept anyone out of a fight for about 12 secs. And can hit up to 3 people around the corner.

                      • As I've mentioned previously. The only way this will probably happen is if most stop using the subclass. Until they figure out these balance issues, I won't be purchasing the new expansion. Bungee works hard to find the balance but sometimes you do more damage by tampering with something that is already fixed.

                        • Dude all solar burn damage is bugged, if you punch an opponent with sunbreakers melee active or hit them with gunslingers throwing blade sometimes they regain health instead of losing it, I think they -blam!-edup in the way burn damage works, not just in the sunsinger subclass, but being the one that relies the most on it, well

                              • The way to fix it is simple reverse the nerf but for whatever crazy reason bungie just wont do that, and the sad part is everyone makes mistakes. Its ok for bungie to say "hey we goofed up this was a misstep and we are going to undo it". That would garner them much more respect than just obstinately refusing to budge, but here we are people dropping from the game like flies because they are tired of grinding for gear or leveling up subclasses that just get nerfed into uselessness. How is this fun in any way?
