You're wrong, it takes a lot of programming to do even this stuff, people like you have been saying this stuff since vanilla destiny, and anything less than a full expansion won't be enough to convince you. If they gave you that full expansion now, they would have had to take programmers away from more important things like this falls expansion and destiny 2. This is a ten year game, and they are trying to finish destiny 2 so that they can move forward as fast as pissible so they won't have to deal with last gen consoles anymore like in the current destiny.

the engine bethesda uses is meant for the modding community, it's easy to mod. But even so, those mods can take a long time to make, and the modders don't have to worry about online multiplayer, so their mods don't require the same level of stability. or coding depth that takes into account not only the player of that specific system but the actions and consequences of all the other human player connections in the game. This whole gamer vs developer war is ridiculous because gamers feel entitled to free stuff out the wazoo, when programmers have families to feed and producers to please.

Not because it's a late addition to TTK but because if you didn't complete TTK and kill oryx, you couldn't start the questline to defeat Malok his would be successor.
